THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH, ROB HUBBARD, FOR MAKING MY CHILDHOOD SOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER, COZ OF YER MUSIC..! I -STILL- LISTEN TO YOUR OLD C64 GAMES' MUSIC; THEY BRING ME BACK TO -MY- "HAPPY-PLACE," THE GOOOD, OLD 80'S..! ;->>>
Spot on! :D
You don’t need to shout.
@@uriituw he played his music too loud, now he DOES need to shout
Me too. That commando music is awesome
You my friend are a legend in my eyes.
And mine.
Me too! I still use some of your SIDs for my ring tones and alarms in the morning. Awesome!
Mr. Hubbard is a true Musical Master, a true inspiration to millions of people. I adore listening to 6 hour playlists of C64 and SID chip music, always have always will. Get this man knighted :)
Hero!
Many thanks to Rob Hubbard. So many great tunes!
Thank you for some of the greatest video game music ever created...and I mean that.
What a legend, too bad the generations after C64 are missing out on so much. Monty's my favorite btw, amazing!
Ron, you are a frickin' SID Chip Genius - great insight! The musical notations with the corresponding code...wicked! I sample his stuff regularly ... ace!
One of the greatest composer of video games music. Thanks Mr Hubbard.
Thrust is still my all time favorite tune. Hubbard was a SID master.
Rob Hubbard for the win! I grew up with this man's music in the 80s on our C64 and played many games, often just for Rob Hubbards music! Those were the greatest times for games, 8bit and 16bit, golden age of gaming! Fantastic! I also remixed Last V8 from Rob Hubbard :) Cheers, Fabian aka Rapture
My old time favorite when I bought Commando for my C64 way back in the 80's! And to think this was made with only 3 channels, unbelievable! Still today it's a great soundtrack.
One of my fave Rob Hubbard soundtracks was The Immortal (1990 for NES, 1991 for Genesis/MD). The original Apple IIGS music was done by Douglas Fulton and sounded good too, but Rob's soundtrack had great new compositions especially the title music for the NES version, which was reused in the Genesis version as the Arabic merchant/bard's music.
Not heard that one, got it playing now. Nice track. I think Monty on the Run music is literally beyond amazing, such vision and flow in its delivery and length, in my mind I can see the levels as I listen to it as I played it so much - I can see the C5 now :)
Commando for C64 was back then well known for excelent soundtrack. Impressive and addictive even today. Ultimate respect!
Best musician on the C64. Brings back memories. Reason I wrote so many games for the C64. You are a legend Mr Hubbard.
Rob, you are a legend. Saboteur 2 music, though not mainstream, is just awesome.
A true musical genius. SEVERELY underrated.
how is he underrated? he's universally held up as one of the greatest c64 composers ever??
@@madpuppet666 According to what lists? Where is he, generally on top 10 or top 50 lists?
@@Doomzdayxx Well, i think if C64 ppl would make a top 10 of best C64 composers he would surely be in there. Please dont expect him in mainstream music lists... cause he never done mainstream music.
I used to work in a computer in Liverpool and had your music on FULL BLAST!!!... Thank you for your amazing music!!
Rob hubbard is absolutely fucking legendary. What he accomplished on the c64 early in its life cycle, when no one was making music as complicated as he was, is insane to me. His later stuff is also wizardry to a young programmer like myself. Assembly programmers back then will always have my highest respect, and the c64 will always be my favourite home computer. Very few people these days could do what people like you did :D
I used to work in a computer in Liverpool and had your music on FULL BLAST!!!... Thank you for your amazing music!!
THANK YOUUUUUU SO MUCH ROB HUBBARD !!!! I love everything you did !!
Commando tune, I cannot say its the best C64 tune but it surely is the most iconic.
Or monty on the run
Best in.my opinion his music made the game 100 times better
monty on the run possibly the best c64 music IMO.
80's Ron looks more 80's than the 80's themselves.
He looks like if Donald Sutherland was a keyboard player in The Doors.
Picnicl interesting....
I never though i would ever see the SID GOD with my own eyes, this mysterious master who can let bits and bytes so damn good.
quite funny I am one of the past decendants of Rob Hubbard
he is my great Uncle
Nice, I have a similar(ish) link in fact my old french teacher was uncle of Iron Maiden's lead singer lol... His whole classroom was covered with iron maiden memrobelia, strange my school allowed it looking back lol. Have you got youself Octamed or Ejay or Magix Music Maker and seen if you have the chip-tune genius gene too ? :)
Until this very day you hear remakes of "Monty on the Run" or "Crazy Comets" themes. Rob Hubbard will be a part of our childhood memories forever!
You are great Rob!!thanks for everything!
I had first a c64 and then an Amiga. Amiga was an astonishing machine, but musical compositions on c64 were far superior than those on Amiga. We all remember the most famous music writers for c64. That is not the case for Amiga.
Definitely not underrated, he was was celebrated in his day. A musical genius.
Loved his main theme for Delta (1987, Thalamus) on the 64.
Greatest master takes limitation of his tool as guideline. Limits make creativity and you filled those limits with something more.
Did some great work with the Mega Drive sound chip
I would play shit games just to hear the masters music. without hearing some of those songs for years I can recall the melodies, just like that. 👌
I used to load up games like Commando just to listen to the music. Many Ocean games were less fun to play than it was to listen to the loading music. It always seemed in those days, more effort went into the music than the actual game...
Thank you for that music. It stuck in my brain and I still love it. It's music like no other.
I don't use the word lightly but, to come up with the Monty on the Run theme tune, he must be a genius- at least a genius on that job.
He and Ben Daglish .....True heroes of the sid chip.
A true legend.
Absolute legend this man!
Great composer, one of the best ones
Literally the best thing about the C64.
Very short interview. Thanks anyway.
True legend. The Ninja theme made it a better game on the Atari 8-bit.
The HERO of my childhood!!
His humility is astounding. The Hans Zimmer of the 80's. Or Hans Zimmer is the Rob Hubbard of the 00's
Zimmer was a name before the 00s but I get your buzz.
didnt this dude do road rash also?
What a humble genius
Mr. Rob Hubbard & Mr. Martin Galway have my utmost respects. Some of their music is worthy of being award winning in this computer game genre. Not sure what awards, but I'd give them my vote! (Master of Magic & Parallax my faves)
There's no doubt the C64 had the best sound capabilities of its time compared to its competition. However, its capabilities were pushed way beyond by composers like Rob who realized they could take it further than was assumed its potential.
Amazing Musician
Absolute genius!
He´s a legend!
you changed our lives. thank you
Master of Magic!
I like most of Robs work but I don't like the fact that the end theme in the game Pandora on the Commodore 64 was stolen from the movie Dune by David Lynch. :\
Theres at least 7 times that I know of where his work was completely derivative (including Dune). I often wonder how Rob didnt get sued for those infringements.
Rob Hubbard is God.
LEGEND !
Grande Rob Hubbard!
It's really funny to see him trying to speak understandably, without this geek slang
Sound patches...
legend
God of SID!
Der Mann mit den goldenen Fingern ;)
Thank you for everything Mr Rob Hubbard. You are Genius. :}
Commando still my favourite music from.any game on any console still to this day A true classic
genius
He's the MAN ! my word what tunes.
Is it MT-40 casiotone on 1:10??
Legend.
crazy comets nuff said :D
the retro picture of him looks a lot like my dad lol
i have noticed all theses c64 composers have a thing for 'baseball caps' they're all wearing them theses days...
Maybe against the sunlight?
Pioneer and legend!
Le meilleur tout simplement!
Hubbard is god
LOVE ROB

What a racket! I preferred the Speccy beep myself ;-)
