Always s good to have people like U helping N giving ideas to solve the problems for others good job my brother
I just wanted to say thank you for all your different videos you have made on fixing Freightliner Trucks. The way that you explain the whole process has really helped me to understand how to fix my own problems.
Cheers My friend,
Keep up the great content.
I really appreciate your comment, thank you sir 🙏
Great video brother learned a lot I am a journeyman heavy equipment mechanic I am still in the learning phase thanks for the step by step instructions for this procedure God bless
thank you sir!! thanks for watching
Do not put silicone sealer on the rubber part of the seal it will stick to tge rubber and steel then when you move the truck it will ball up and cause a leak. Unless it is a silicone type lube?
That was a great lesson, thanks. You explain very well
Great video. You did a great job explaining. Very easy to understand. Thank you.
Great video! I would just add that mineral spirits is a much safer cleaner for yourself and the parts.
Man I appreciate this video you made.. .gracias ... I'll be sure to teach someone else what I learned from you . 👍👍👍👍
Great video. I would never doing it my self but good to see how it’s done
Thanks from Russia! Very helpful!
Thanks for video. Almost left the back of seal on spindle. 😲 👍
I died watching this video 😂 but this guy knows whats good 💯👑
Awesome video Awesome way of changing seals and how to turn your liver green with chemicals going straight into your pors...
Another banger! Im gonna let mine leak thats a big job. Respect!
thank u for showing us every step God bless u go ahead
For a do it yourself mechanic, I gotta say you gave all the right advice on doing it, only thing you have to add is that fact with that spacer in between the bearings it needs to be torqued to a special torque so it will set the proper bearing lash or free place of .001-.005.
Usually need to be torqued to around 300 foot pounds or so.
But all in all the bearings would last just fine if someone were to follow the directions.
The freightliner books calls for everything as you said it except for the torque as I had mentioned.
For the torque is no problem, but if you want to torque it,it goes a 45 psi
Good video. But that is a conmet hub. Your wheel will fall off if you don't torque that hub nut to 300 ft.lb. Don't ever never back it off! That spacer is there to set the preload on the bearings.
@@johnw4590
The Freightliner manual says 250 ft lbs for PreSet type bearings using an Axilok nut (like in the video). Mine is also a ConMet hub and has not fallen off or leaked. The manual gives different instructions based on the type of nut. I’m seeing 4 different types of nuts.
There is no proper bearing lash when there’s a spacer it’s zero
I've never used silicone sealant in this places, thanks for video.
Almost no one does it, but it has work for us, thanks for watching sir 🙏
Best videos I found tankful for the education
thank you, hopefully this will help you
Thank you bro. About to do it my self.
What amazes me that in all these types of online videos,, no one ever used penetrating oil or anything on dry nasty threads. Step one that was always taught to me, but then I am old.
Didn’t need penetrating oil. Nothing was rusted, stuck or frozen.
Excellent video
Great video bro lots of detail really learned a lot from your video thanks for posting I will subscribe👍🏼
Also I would add that you make sure you don’t use silicone that has cleaner in it because it will degrade the rubber seal.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge it helped a lot.
I was like nooo where’s the gloves 🧤 no glove no love
Boa noite daqui de Portugal gostei do video parabéns muito profissional obrigado Hélder Henoch
Thank you for taking the time to make and post the video

Thanks my brother for the video firme arriba Texas usa.

Great details!!! Great episode!!!
i don't work on Diésels...but this is a great video...very interesting
Nice video dude, cheers for the upload
Hey man thanks for the video you helped me out
Hey man, I appreciate your videos. I've been driving trucks for 20 years, and owner operator for about 4 months. Most of the repairs I've done so far, I learned how to do it by watching your videos. I've got basically the same truck, but dd13. When something breaks I look for your videos 👍
Im glad our videos were able to help you on your truck, I really appreciate you watching sir 🙏
Hey Nick, is it good being o/o . Thinking about same . Heard it’s not a good time … please suggest??
@@nickdyess581 thanks
Thanks for this information really helpful for me
Great work brother 👍👍👍
Very helpful info, thanks !
I am so surprised that there are no grease but differential oil in the wheel hub. Most Japanese semi truck have a grease in itself.
The video helps me to study European and American car structure!

Excellent video!
Saludos amigo muy buen video mi padre tiene un camion en mi país pero siempre e tenido deseo de hacer eso hace años un primo lo hizo esta ves yo lo are Saludos desde brooklin New York
That's for share your skills, only the silicon it's not necessary. Regards from el Salvador
Thanks for watching sir
Another great video... Thank you
thank you sir
Thanks for the video. What was your technique for removing the nuts from the studs that pulled out of the hub? The studs that pulled out are in the hub at 18:30 without the nuts.
Job well done ...
Thanks for the information
Great video
Dude love the videos very simple steps
Thank you really appreciate it 🙏
Que buen video! Muchas gracias!
Well done guys!!
It's always a good idea to replace the bearing every time.
It's a While It's Out kind of thing.
A bearing costs about $90.
A service truck costs $300 minimum.
Also, to clean the gaskets from the hub, use an air rotary tool with a red pad. Much better than sandpaper.
And you should also repaint the hub once assembled.
Thanks, this was great .
thanks for watching sir!!!!
Middle axle western star.. i like this job's
Great work buddy 👍👍
Thank you sir 🙏
With this system spacer torque. 300 foot pounds
Wrong!!
Great video, thank you. When an oil change is needed in the diff? I mean... What is the right mileage to change the oil, please? thanks
Always good practice to replace races and bearings. I mean you might as well its already off.
Good job thanks
Buen video amigo, Una pregunta, No necesito el empaque de papel, sólo uso silicona en el eje?
Qué papel puedo usar para hacer este empaque (gasket)
If you get vice grips and grip it to the lip of the ring stuck on the spindle and go around pulling the vice grip toward you the ring comes right off dont have to hammer the spindle like that…ive seen people make huge grooves on spindle hammering it
It's a crush collar it protects the aluminum hub from being damaged if wheel bearings are not tighten to spec.
Great job on the video👍🏻
thank you sir!!
Usou silicone no retentor interno, pode , não avaria a vedação ?
Great video bro 😎 are you out here in SoCal??
That’s nice work
thank you sir!!
You guys are BadAss!!
Thanks for watching sir 🙏
Thanks!
Bastante informativo. Gracias
grasias!!
Cool. Thanks!
I highly recommend the paper gasket when you install the axle...
Very informative video! The only thing I don’t agree with is the use of Gasoline to clean with! As you know Gasoline ⛽️ is an explosive 💥 motor fuel and one spark and ⚡️🔥 🚒 🚑 There are other safe alternatives to use that are available such as a parts cleaner or brake cleaner in a spray can! - I agree with the Silicone use as added insurance to prevent a leak. Avoid ⛽️ Gasoline at all costs! Thanks for taking the time to make and post this video!
what is the torque specs for the 8 bolts removed o the hub? I cant find any torque specs mine is the same
Buen video!!
How in the world did you align the splines so easy? Speedco and regular Loves struggle with this all the time
I thought you just have to tighten the spacer all the way so that the two bearings squeeze together
I like the silicone idea
yes it will last longer, thanks for watching sir
Tnks for sharing
Eres Chignon! Thanks 4 Videos
Gracias amigo!!
Good details honestly made
Thank you sir 🙏
Very nice
Super Information muy bien te doy un 9

Good videos, Thanks
Nice job man. What kind of silicon and oil did u use
That's Permatex ultra grey. I wouldn't use it on the inside of the seal
No torque specifications? No seals for shaft?
Good vid but that hub nut should be torqued to 300 ft. Lb using a calibrated torque wrench and torque multiplier. Dont back off. I see guys do this not correct. CONMET hub torque is posted on line.
Hello John here is the link for the Conmet preset hub ua-cam.com/video/EXN8LbzvjLA/v-deo.html.
In stalled a trailer Conmet hub couple months ago.. brand new hub spacer and nut.. think the torque in the directions was 800 ft.lb. no back off. (for new installation)
@@johnw4590 Yes every application needs different final torque, you are right they don't need to back off the nut.👍
Los rodamientos entraron muy sueltos en el yugo.
I get to many scratches on my hands doing a job like this that gas would burn. Brake clean works better and less of a mess
Thank you✅👍
Thanks for watching sir 🙏
Just a thought, if you’re replacing the seal, why not replace the bearings too if you’re already there? So you won’t have to worry about damaging them.
Thats true, i was low on cash 💸
Very nice
Thanks for watching sir 🙏
Una pregunta si alguien me la puede responder el juego del valero en la pista es normal
Where can I buy gear oil?
Thank you!
thanks for watching!!

After watching your video, and counting the dollars to buy the tools, only two wheel cylinders need to be changed to get the money back.
But I park in a lot: without air tools, 3/4" tools, and only one bad seal, quickness to money matters more so I am going to pay $135.00 in labor and already $40.00 for the seal.
But thanks again :. Maybe when I am not so cash strapped I will follow your lead. I have a relic though:. 2000 Freightliner Century with Meritor drive axles.
Front is a "sealed lifetimeunit so I do not hacmce to worry about them! 😇
Nitrile gloves buddy cheap worth every dime
Doubt I'll get a reply since this video was posted two years ago, but my hub will not come off. Just hit harder?
Where did you buy the seal installing tool (CR-435)?
Lo compre en fleet pride en amazon lo tienen pero esta muy caro

Hey my friend is the same for a freight liner flat bed?
to be honest im not sure
Preset should be torqued. You don't loose it. Next time check the torque spec and do it right.
Thanks for watching and paying attention, good job
Welcome
Where are you guys located?
From where did u got the socket for the differential Plug
i bought it at the freightliner dealer
Thank you
Using silicone instead of the gasket is not recommended! The gasket is to seal the axle, but to also creat a buffer between the two dissimilar metals. Dissimilar metals will cause rust if they touch.
En ese sistema no, ya que el retén es giratorio, la parte interna debe quedar fija en el eje.
