- In this video I wanted to answer a question about how I find wildlife and birds to photograph. I did not want to just make a video of me talking. So I combined it with some bird photography as well. Hope you picked up some tips and tricks.

Started my Sunday morning Trond's video and a cup of coffee! Doesn't get much better!
wow....what an awesome comment :) Makes me so glad to read. Thank you so much Pat!
Instant subscription. Thank you for making such a enjoyable and informative video. Great shooting as well.
I cannot believe how lucky i was to find your channel, Trond you are very inspirational to all of our wildlife photographers
Hi Thomas! I am so glad you find me. You are most welcome. Thank you so much for the compliment.
Foto spettacolo e silvidi meravigliosi! Grande birdwatching 👏👏👏
Thank you so much! :)
You are doing awesome job. Wildlife is like meditation and photography is art deadly combination. I am waiting for October to photograph Himalayan birds and song birds. BTW love from India
Thank you so much! Really appreciate your kind feedback. Sounds great with the himalayan birds. Best of luck to you.
The other thing i like t do with birds is to know the songs and calls as i find you often hear them before you see them so can find them that way
Great video man!
Thanks a lot Harry!
Hi Trond !! Ive been watching since a copple of months now, dope video !! Really nice seeing a guy that enjoys more than just gettin a picture. Really good vibes in your videos, and usefull tips, so thanks a lot for that !!
I wanted to ask you if you could maybe speak a little bit more about the birds you're seeing in your videos. I sometime struggle to figure out what bird your photographing and I'd love to have the name of those written somewhere (maybe under the photos you show us ?).
Thanks again for what you're doing !! Have fun in your next sessions !!!
Hi Theo! Thank you so much for this awesome and nice compliment. Really appreciate it. And that is a really good feedback and suggestion. I will note it down :)
Excellent video, enjoying and learning a great deal from your videos. Many Thanks Trond.
Thank you so much Paul! I am so glad you get something out of my videos. Really appreciate it.
Trond, when you are out shooting, are you using the back button focusing method, or the traditional focusing method? By the way, I like your channel. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much! I use back button
Great advice and wonderful photos!
Thanks a lot :)
Lovely captures and nice video
Thanks a lot Adrian!
thank you, great video again. I love your videos.
Thank you so much Clive!
Hi! Thank´s for another fine video. You said you always contacted the land owner before entering any field? In Norway we have the "allmannsretten". Can´t you use that?
Thank you so much Jens Erik! We have a lot of examples here at Jæren, where farmers are tired of bird watchers and photographers who dont think and respect. So I think its share polite to ask of permission. I would have like that if it where my land :)
You are my teacher
subscribed. but i have to admit i'm using a Canon ;)
Haha...lol. You are all very welcome to my channel. :) So glad to have you on board!
Hi Trond. Which version from the f4 500mm do you use? Seems like you are strong like a bear or like if you were having an FL ED version ;)
Its the one before FL version :)
@@trondwestby VR 2 right? I own now second hand a 600mm VR 2. Is it normal that the VR works (lens vibrates) the whole time when you are in live view mode?
The main thing that comes across in yours, Morten's and Espen's channel’s is that the welfare of the animals must come first. Then it’s the knowledge the three of you have and how well you research your subject that makes all three of your channels so attractive. You are all so similar in your values and fundamental approach and yet present totally differently. I find if you like one of the channels, then in all probability you’ll like all three.
My wife and I both have disabilities and I’m not allowed to fly, so we rent cottages in different parts of the UK. These are often on working farms and the amount of local knowledge of wildlife and where to find it is phenomenal.
A superb video as always, and there’s always that correlation between working hard and being lucky.
Always love your fulfilling comments. So nice and encouraging to read. I really appreciate your support Mark! I wish you all the best!
this helped me alot Trond. Thank you alot for all those informations. Now I just need to find out how to find the landowners :D cheers matey!
I am so glad it helped you. Thanks for writing, and best of luck tracking down the land owner :)
Your video is so peaceful and you are such a humble person ❤️
It was a very enjoyable video to watch, Trond! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much Ragnis!

HI Manu! Thank you so much for writing to me.
Do you have in your country problems with ticks?. It has really become an issue for me with my blind photography.. here in Spain. By the way, lovely pictures!
Thanks a lot for the compliment. Yes we do. Its a big problem here too

Good Morning. Where are you from? I'm loving your videos. I am from Brazil, I live in Sao Paulo, in the interior.
Good morning! I am from Norway. Thank you so much for writing to me. Best regards!
Scotland has no private land, but I guess people like polite people on their land. Nice video presentation.
Yes it definitely is :) Thank you so much!
I saw 30 pelicans take flight this morning! Never seen anything like it before :) Video is on my channel if interested. I only have a 30x zoom point and shoot now (Nikon S9900) but I'm wondering, with decent gear, is wildlife photography (birds in particular) a career? Who would buy photos and video of birds?
its 90% an expensive hobby. But if you are good you can have it as a career hopefully
Thats cool to hear. Would love to photograph pelicans.
Hi Trond, Ya, 👍🏻 your Videos/images, are very much felt by your viewers; producing content that has an emotional impact/feeling, is how good you are Trond. I think it’s called, “wow” The time that you spend in making of this Chanel, is a gift to us all.

My favourite channel on UA-cam, great videos!
wow.....such a great compliment
My Dear Trond Westby...while going through the UA-cam channel I was fortunate enough to find out your esteemed Nature and Wildlife Photography site. I watched the above very nicely done video presentation and very happy to see your works and above all the very good advice for the Wildlife Photographers. I am extremely happy to see you Nikon Nano Crystal Lens in the Wilderness. I am highly interested in Bird Photography and WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY. I am using Nikon D 7100 +
NIKKOR 200mm-500mm Super Telephoto Lens in the WILDS. Do you have done any Videos about this Super Telephoto Lens in related to Bird Photography ? In conclusion Thank you very much for sharing your very good views and practical skills from the Fields. I will stay connect with you. I AM NIKON..I AM WILDLIFE. Warm Regards.
Thank you for this great video and stunning pictures! One question comes to mind. How do you prevent tick bites? Thank you!
Thank you so much! I use a spray, but not always effective
@@trondwestby Ok. Thank you!

You are just osm..
Amazing pictures, this video really inspired me to the language of photography!
Pls tell me which is the best budget wildlife lens for beginners?
I would say the tamron 150-600mm is a really good beginners lense.
Your work really inspires me Trond! As a newbie in wildlife photography, I am looking forward to be like you someday! Keep it up!
Hey man I’m 14 years old and I have a really bad camera, and really bad cameras are probably not the best for high quality wildlife photography, so it would mean the world to me if you and any tips for me so I can make the most of the equipment I do have. By the way love your content!
These are so relaxing andncalming to watch, love these vids man :)
You are a very good person with good heart. And your videos are amazing. I am trying to see all your videos to learn new techniques.
There’s one thing I’m learning about photographing wildlife is that light is the most important tool, especially where you need the light to be. 🤙😎👊
You never really said where exactly (location) of the field you were taking pictures.
Hi Mr trond iam so lucky that i could find ur channel i learned so many things from ur videos. Ur presentations are awesome.
What is the highest ISO setting that you would use on the D500 without worrying about the noise? TIA
You are great sir 🙏
Brilliant advice for an amateur like myself, thanks Trond :)
? I don't know what else to say lol. Your a pretty amazing wildlife photographer @Trond Westby.
Thanks a lot buddy! :)
I love learning your tips....#BHUTAN🇧🇹
great tips Trond. thanks for sharing. superb images too.
Love your videos as always Trond. It would also be helpful if you could include the settings on the photos so some of us could learn from your experience next time.
Thank you so much! And thanks for the suggestion. I will try to remember to do that :)
Hi bro , please make what's in my bag video
Hi bro! Thanks for the suggestion. I will consider that :)
Great video Trond!! Which version of the 500mm are you using and do you find focusing speed with D500 good?
Thank you so much! I use the version before the FL version. Yes I do. Actually the DX focusing speed I have used.
Good tips Trond, ground work pays dividends
Great content, it has an emotion, adventure I feel like i watched a movie! Subbed
Thank you so much for this encouraging compliment. Welcome to my channel!
Another great video from you, very informative and with a sweet ending with beautiful images ☺️
Thanks a lot Cliff! Much appreciated :)
Flotte bilder Trond :)
Tusen takk Christopher! :)
Wonderful video.
Thank you so much Paul!
Great tips for setting up for deer watching, but shame about the ants - I've done that and I know..! I agree waiting for deer to come to you is way better than trying to approach them - they're so alert and always know you're there! Also, beautifu images of the sedge warbler with the damselfly 😀
Thank you so much Geoff! The ants really hurts. And this was not my first time ;)
Nice video, as usual! :) What gear do you use for recording audio?
Thank you so much! I am using a røde videomic pro. I leave a link: amzn.to/2J4F5JX
Very peaceful, thanks for sharing!. I will take the tip for asking to the land owner.

Excellent tips Trond, and beautiful shots too as usual.
2 min in and I love this guy
You always look so happy Trond, that is inspiration for all of us! My question: what kind of hide do you prefer when you are in the forest looking for smal birds? You seem to carry it on your back and it contains a little chair? Thank you for your advice!
Thank you so much for the compliment. I use my chair blind a lot for small birds in the forest. Easy to carry and set up. amzn.to/2D9VtXc
Here in NY i'd be covered in ticks and Mosquitoes.. I'm just getting started in birding...still waiting for my 500PF.. then i'm on my way.

Thank you so much for the kind compliment :)
How to find wildlife to photograph? For me I research the species, its habits, habitat, behavior, etc., go to a likely area, and then....pray I get lucky! lol
research is really the key. Sometimes you get lucky :) Cheers buddy!
@@trondwestby Oh another big one is talking to local park rangers and conservation agents in a given area. They're there every day and can give you accurate information about what wildlife is active, where, and what time.
Spot on as always Trond....and on a side note i've just found out i'm 2% Norwegian :)
Thank you so much Ian! Thats cool. :)
Hi great videos your tips are good I practice in my back garden and somtimes at a local wild fowl park , keep up the good work

You seem to go into zen sniper mode when you are ready to shoot 👁👁 great vlog again Trond thank you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍
Haha...I kinda do ;) Thank you so much! Appreciate it
The thing is Trond, it's not just your video's. You come across as such a nice guy too!
aww....Thanks a lot Ashley!
I love wildlife
🙂👍👍👍❤️
Your Photography are great
😍🙏
Great sir
Some good advice Trond, I find word of mouth in my area helps a great deal. This can be a problem as some people don't want to share the area's to protect the wildlife, sadly not all of us want to promote and protect wildlife and are intent on hurting the animals. Your channel and Mortens are some of the best on UA-cam. Must get over to your country and check out the wildlife.
Thanks a lot! Yes thats also helps. We have the same here. For me I like to be places with lesser people, not to disturbed the wildlife with pressure of many people. Thank you so much for the compliment :) Really appreciate it.
@@trondwestby I've spent quite some time scouting new locations for wildlife, sometimes I am lucky, other's not so lucky. But I'm still out doors with the wildlife so it's a win win situation. There are some areas that are swamped by photographers and they wonder why nothing shows or stays at a distance.
Sirrr
THANKS FOR SHARING
Thanks for answering my question! :)
No problem....and thanks for the question :) Great one!
Altså ❤❤❤
