Goddamnit, Mark was such an amazing singer and songwriter. Totally underrated, he is/was a legend. Rest In Peace Mr. Lanegan, and thanks for the music 💔
One of my favorite songs, hearing it sung from Mark Lanegan totally gives it a different kind of spark and meaning, R.I.P. you will be trully missed Mark..
One of my favourite songs. An emotional epic that somehow hits directly between intimate and anthemic, with an intense, cyclic, build up. I always imagined it would make for epic live performances. Well here it is.
In a parallel universe, down a different leg in the trousers of time, mark would be a top super star. I wonder if anyone will get my Terry pratchett reference 🤔
And the other is a song first recorded as "(Black Girl) In the Pines" by blues legend Leadbelly. Mark Lanegan covered it on his first solo album "Winding Sheets", as "In the Pines" with backing vocals by Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic of Nirvana.... Kurt would later use Lanegan's cover as the inspiration for his inarguably legendary performance of it titled "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" to close out Nirvana's last live set ever in Kurt's life on MTV Unplugged.
Rest In Peace Mark, and thank you for your music. ♥️
