I love the theme idea, just to savour some eccentricity and to slide away from reality for a moment is priceless. I do love the lamp, its expensive, but in the right setting it would be perfect. I love the theatre of steam punk and greatly appreciate the effort people put into getting the right look, so some of the gear you chose would make great gifts for the right person. Thanks Jon, much appreciated. 👋🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦🇮🇪
I always like to carry a bit of steampunk. I think the colour is so warming. - Recently, I found a company in England that replaces Spyderco UKPK scales with brass or copper, just to add that real steampunk vibe! So now my pocket is full brass Spyderco UKPK, brass flashlight, and brass pen. I couldn't be more pleased! Also - Jon' background has always been a steampunk inspiration to me!😊
I love when people just nerd out on stuff the love. Not for me, but that's fine! I do like Brass, still antimicrobial without as much patina or smell as copper.
Amazing video yet again jon, thanks! Some really interesting pieces. That wallet is so simple and yet such a good design. The lantern is gorgeous, and that is the first fidget spinner that i have actually wanted. Now you need a victorian trenchcoat to store it all in!
I have a similar idea on my list of videos to make for some time now... just in the acquisition stage for more cool items. Keep up the great work Jon, you're the best.
I don't need any of these items, but I want them all after listening to your pitch. I dare say you missed your calling if you were not a salesperson on the highest order, well done!🙌
this is my first time here and as a photographer I love the video style and quality I enjoy the gears maybe I get the lamp in the future to come but I now a sub to your channel.
Pretty cool setup for a steampunk video...I especially liked the writing instruments that develop uniqueness as you use them! Although Jon, I was really curious to hear any opinion of yours on the roxon flex, since I thought that amongst many, you especially would have possibly liked it a lot... Sorry for the off topic haha, very enjoyable video as always
John one of my school teachers was a former marine engineer. He would get annoyed about confusing cogs with gears. He would say cogs are made of wood and go thunk thunk you tend to find them in watermills and wind mills. Gears are made of metal (or plastic) and they wirr.
Someone once described to me a lamp that sailboat owners used to hang from the yard arm when moored off shore at night. I think it was probably a Petromax. They would swing the arm out over the water to reduce the risk of a fire onboard.
From the manufacturer's site, looks like that lantern has an attachment for the top that puts all the waste heat to work as a cooking burner...! I prefer the design of the Coleman military model though - it has a container in the base for cleaning kit and a spare mantle. The globe is made up of four separate sections so if the glass gets cracked it doesn't compromise the whole thing.
I love your channel and the quality content you provide. Regarding your butting lighter collection (and if you don't know it already) a top candidate is the Douglass Field L from Japan. They make an all brass version, I personally own the steel with brass accents version. Gorgeous design and my version weighs only 53 gr. I got mine recently from Urban EDC in the US but it's a classic design and should be available from various other sources.
Not really Steampunk style, but more traditional style. I’m a fan of brass, wood, leather and blued steel in me EDC. Traditional Buck knives, brass Zippo, leather belt, holster and knife sheath or pouch, including a nice hand made latigo leather pouch for a Buck 110 with Oak inlays.
Good selection. But It's a bit disappointing that you selected a German lamp rather than the British Tilley lamp which works on the same principle but is *a lot* simpler in terms of firing it up and maintaining it. 🤨 Edit: And on a Tilley lamp you can control the brightness to some extent.
Les écouteurs ressemblent trop a des boucles d’oreilles….pas toujours évident d’assumer 😅 Vive Jules Vernes qui aurait adoré et aussi le docteur Emet Brown…
*17:22* You look like you're about to tell a group of plucky teenagers/an unassuming reporter not to go into the abandoned graveyard/old lighthouse/Old Man Jenkins' house.
Why does John remind me of the guy from AstroWorld You guys don't know what I'm talking about he's the old ball of man always dancing around flapping with his humongous glasses
Don’t buy the lighter. Mine arrived the other day and the striking mechanism has already packed in. It relies on the striking wheel being driven by a ratchet mechanism and this is uselessly under engineered for the force needed to drive against the flint and the ratchet just slips over the striking wheel, so no spark. Pretty rubbish for a lighter priced over £100. Will be contacting the supplier and shall post an update here.
@@ichicolco Leaving your patronising tone aside, the design or the earphones is irrelevant. If you're filling your ears with music you are not going to be able to hear the car or truck that's about to hit you, or any audible cues that you are in trouble. If you want to deprive yourself of a key sense for situational awareness be my guest, but I think that it's totally stupid. The car stereo analogy is also totally irrelevant.
To be fair Jon's backdrop has always given SteamPunk vibes

That lamp, a truly beautiful piece of engineering 😊
Brass and leather is a lovely combo! Excited for this one!
"I don't really care what it is. I just love it." 🤣 That was my first thought as well!! Those lighters are brilliant and next-level cool.
Love this theme. Also liking Diesel Punk.
Thanks for all the content Mr Gadget 🙏🏾
Soundcore make awesome ear buds. That lantern is an absolute work of art!

Brass is much harder to work with. The quality of the alloy is very variable now as well
@@dawnmoriarty9347 Yeah, I've seen some just call them all copper alloys because brass, bronze, whatever are all varying soooo much.
I love my Kaweco Liliput fountain pens. I have a brass and a copper version
Love the patina they’re gaining.

I love the flashlight from o light! And the price🎉 wasn't bad either. Nice video John!
We use the Petromax HK as warm and warming camping lamp during cold weather days!
I love it
Enjoyed Jon's demonstration of throwing his head around . . .
I like the idea of the open-air earbuds for summertime
That lamp is amazing

Thank you a'lot! I started collecting steampunk edc some time ago, your video really gave me some ideas!
Awesome lamp, thanks !!
Love my brass Peak flashlights. I have 2 brass AAA Eigers, and a brass El Capitan.

Love that lamp...

Another good fountain pen option that fits the bill is Kaweco's Sport pen in brass. A little pricey, but it's very small when capped.
Abosolutely love the lamp and for what it is, the price is decent.

Outstanding 👍

Excellent, thank you!
I thought the Petromax would be more expensive!
A beautiful design
Hopefully you doing well. That lamp looks amazing!
Fantastic!
Welcome back Sir 🙏🫡❤️
RovyVon Aurora A9 Pro (G4) EDC Copper Keychain Flashlight fits in Steampunk theme.
Keyboard from the Datamance range some even have British layouts.
Fun video! I'd throw in those Japanese lighters as well from that pipe company.
Waiting for Xmas themed one too
The fountain pen is on order, beautiful, thank you for the link Jon👍🏼🇦🇺🦘

Good lord that lamp is beautiful. And not much more expensive than that freakin pen 😂
I think the open steam pump scene is from an episode from Castle.
That lamp is spectacular! Doesit makes the gas flow sound like colmen's gas lamp?
Nice, again, but a bit surprised no Kewaco product ?
What's the runtime of the Ketuo Victory? Lighter runtime is particularly important for cigar smokers since we tend to go through a lot of fuel.
Good question. I’ve not tested it to that extent. I’m sure the supplier will be able to answer that though.
10:30 I think everyone should still have cash with them.
Always.

Missed the chnace to have a cool bronze watch with roman numerals
Very good job :) beautifull items ;) i’m in love with this pen but price is from hell :(
Jon, great video, but let's talk about what really interests me. Your pup. What's the name and breed? I have three Westies and love dogs beyond words.
Hi Jon, how can I get a product to you for review please?
I paused the vid to see your watch while fueling the lantern.
“Rolex GMT nice!” - Me

The oclip is the best edc flashlight bar none
Can you make a video of edc with your spouse?😊🤞

Yes the fidget spinner helps you concentrate on how much money you are out.
❤❤❤
Great video Jon, can we see more of jamie in future videos

14:05 - How is solid copper magnetic?
*7:30*
What a rip-off, the carabiner doesn't even move any gears when you open it.
As much as I love the theme, copper and brass do not mix well with leather. The waxy green byproduct is a real nuisance.

Re 4'39" - you shouldn't be cycling with headphones on at all, no matter what the design. That's just suicidally stupid. (And sadly all too common...)
