I just love how the ship was in Gibraltar and somehow the guy was going to be drop off in Somalia. I was always interested in how no one questions people who buy gift cards. I´m my country they are not common, maybe you can find them at a tech store, but definitely not everywhere. So I never understand why store clerks never find strange if they see some lady buying cards crying or people, specially senior citizens, who go to the store often to buy cards. Perhaps they think they are just weird people or that they are buying them for kids/grandkids.
It’s fascinating how people get so sucked into these scams. When you tell the stories it’s obvious how much a scam it is, but at the time for the person being scammed the gradual escalation of circumstances makes it hard for them to see that. At least this lady only lost less than $1000. The first thing I would have done is look through google news because a pirate incursion with hostages and people being thrown overboard would certainly make the news.
This must have been horribly stressful at the time - these extortioners have no scruples at all. But I'm happy to know this lady kept her sense of humour once she realised they were trying to make a fool of her - "make him walk the plank!". 🏴☠
If I was this lady I would be looking for another Facebook page. This one doesn’t seem to care for it’s members. I liked the ‘Make him walk the plank,’ quip.
I am Glad this lady realized the Truth before wasting too much time and money . They sound like typical scammers ! His quarters looked like a hotel room ! Lol !! Be Safe Online ! Thank You , William and Anne for helping to keep everyone Safe !
All scammers Must think Americans Have 10 grand laying around just like that. We just had a guy who retired from post office too. He has a house in africa. Where he is from & I heard on our money what he made. He can live like a king over there.. Plus that Pirate attack would have made world wide news & If they killed a majority of the crew. Just think of it & use Logic. Like Dr phil said When Pirates Attacks. It becomes news Big news.
How, How can you be in love with someone you have not meet in person. I had a online girl friend once But we meet a couple times in person & we clicked. They might not as click as well in real life if they meet too. I hate that too when a Complete stranger tell you To s ell everything you own. To get the damn money. That is why I hate money in real life & refuse to have a bank account & Savings. My money is mine & along. This pirate story I would call the Authorities first. Others in their right mind would, Also the right thing to do. The police & Coast guard. Like you said on facebook. We be the last person they call to get help.

How I feel I called out a few scammers too. Saying. They are going to hell. One replied to me that Was impersonating a military general telling me I can go to hell Called me a Mother F***er. I wanted to say to the scammer. Thank you you just proved their idiocy.. I am not scared of scammers. Cause I have had virus protections put on my facebook & everywhere else on my personal data. Done By a cop friend I know. they have a program that protects their stuff. They installed one for me.
He is but unfortunately the real man has hundreds of photos on his social media in everyday clothing, coats, rain jackets. He uploads tons of pics of himself, not just ones in doctors scrubs or a doctors coat. Scammers steal them all
Dear Lord, there are no pirates in the very narrow Straights of Gibraltar between Europe and the Kingdom of Morocco. Lack of global awareness as well as being unable to pick up on very obvious fake profiles are an issue.
