- Uganda's first post-independence executive Prime Minister Dr. Apollo Milton Obote was a man from a humble background.
Dr. Obote who was to later serve as Uganda's president on two different occasions shot to the limelight as a member of the pre-independence Parliament, the Legislative Council or LEGCO.
The area he represented in Lango sub-region is in present day Alebtong District that was curved out of Lira District in 2010.
In this special report, the first of a three-part series, our reporter Maurice Ochol retraces Obote's emergence as a politician

Obote our hero
I get PTSD just watching this. The trauma I experienced as a child and the misery inflicted by his regime is hard to forget. I wish I could find a bit of strength to even say RIP. No disrespect intensed, but I can't. And I don't care for politics, so my comment not about politics, rather it's about humaneness.
Okay just to clarify Obote wasn’t the founder president Mutesa was..
Mutesa was ceremonial with no political influence...Obote as the prime minister was in charge
@@okellokennedy1325 you are confusing two things Obote overtook power through attacking mutesa with the intention of killing him and all Baganda people which totally failed. Power was left in the hands of Mutesa not in the office of the prime minister.
