Yes this calypso is so true, what Lord Kitchener sang so many years ago,it is midnight February 14 th 2024 and another Trinidad and Tobago carnival is over 😢
This song is unlimited by time or space. From one corner of the globe to another. 'It does make your pores raise up.' And this is not a 'homer" comment. I'm a 70-year old non-Trinidadian and I just love introducing folks to this tune. And just re-sharing it with others. R.I.P. Kitch. We will make them know.
I could imagine Mas in Trinidad in those days (the 1970s'-1980s) was sweet. Remember this LP "Spirit of Carnival" was released in 1979 & if I am not mistaken there was no Steelpan for 1-2 years. I am going by what I see on UA-cam. Interviews & so on.........
Without a doubt ,this is our greatest exponent of the art form of calypso, no one come.close to composing ,performing ,he was and still the best ,that's whY he is LORD KITCHENER
the first time i hear this was when my father play it & love it ever since thank you for all the best c calypso music rest in peace the Grand Master Lord Kitchener
i play my carnival is over since 10 last night kitchner sweet will never get another kitch in life god bless him we have his music so we will enjoyed it till next 1ooo.oo years
i have always said for many-many years this song should be rated on top of all the Kitchener classics. i love it so much it brings tears to my eyes.i actually sing it and cry."Bandit"
I first heard this, I think about 45 years ago, and have been looking for it ever since - kept finding another The Carnival is Over by the Seekers...finally googled it with Trinidad attached...and here it is! - very nice -
The imagery painted by the lyrics of the composition is suggestive of an unusual inspiration. Beautiful and brilliant composition but let us also compliment Mr Ed Watson on a masterpiece of arrangement to complement the lyrics.
@@davidsimmons9128 Thanks for recognizing the musical composer Ed Watson. I had the same sentiment. You see, my brother Wilfred and I played trumpet in other bands and while we were growing up in Carenage and personally acquainted with Ed Watson, he said to us, "I want both of you to plan in my band" but we continued with other bands outside the village and joined the regiment instead. How I wish we had taken up Ed on his desire for us. Ed Watson and His Brass Circle was a remarkable band of mostly made up of Carenage-based musicians.
An anthem , so classical. Should be played at the end of carnival everywhere. Kudos to Ed Watson as well
👍👍👍

You actually get a real picture in your mind, while listening.
Age 75. Played Mas year after year. This still brings a tear to the eye. Incomparable.

Up to today no modern artist could put lyrics to music like Kitch & Sparrow. Genius!

First time hearing this tune... Lovely way to end carnival!
Lived in P.O.S in my early years his description of the end of carnival is so exacting its nostalgic and bitter sweet
Such a lovely little tune! The trombones make me feel to wine!
