I had the honour and privilege to meet and converse with this Master when I was about 15 years old in St James. I will always remember that meeting.

Of his talent, there was no doubt. If you were asleep or even dead, your body would move just by the urgings of his sweet sounds. But his music wasn't only what made him the Grand Master. He also sought to educate the public about music. Need I remind you about Pan in A minor and this one, The Guitar Pan. In Pan in A minor, it was the first time I heard about the "hook" in music. Which means he just wasn't the Grand Master, he was also the Professor. And I never once fell asleep in his classes!

One can't help but but Kitch's tunes on replay. The movements in his tunes are so compelling.

KITCH THE ULTIMATE MUSICAL GENIUS. Will be forever the TRINIDAD CARNIVAL
ROAD MARCH KING. He knew exactly what the arrangers of both the Brass Bands and the Steel Bands were looking for.

even in his time, there was nobody like Kitch. He was a singular music genius; melodically especially, at a level by himself. THis song and Pan in A Minor, truly miraculous. THey always sound brand new, like you're hearing them for the first time - that's because nobody ever wrote melodies quite like his and his rhymes....straight from Heaven.

In addition to my comment 20 minutes ago.., check out RENEGADES playing GUITAR PAN at PANORAMA STEELBAND FINALS 1997. KITCH IS ON STAGE IN A BRIGHT RED SUIT for a few seconds with a crowd of fans., around the 7 mins into performance.
    The ROAD MARCH KING forever.

Right to the end, looking dapper & he hasn't lost his touch (any of his magic/charms....) Lord Kitchener (1922-2000) if you only know how this artform (Kaiso, Calypso/Soca) is not/no longer the same without an artiste of you caliber. When you hear people say Kaiso (Calypso) is dead and buried it is a sad reality. Don't get me wrong Soca is the in-thing, its the norm, but Calypso is not what it used to be, and it is not what it should be.... Calypso Rose, Chalkdust, they are still there, but there is only so much they can do, and there is only so much that can be done......

    This is superlative.
By way of constructive criticism, the caneraman was too "busy". S/he should have simmered down and film the performance. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness and observe the Grandmaster conquering all with his performance.
The curtains are very distracting. Too much extraneous activity.
