Thank you for your video, it is much better than Garbaruk's. At least we clearly know which way to turn at the end of reassembly. If only I had seen it before, it would have saved me from blowing my derailleur....
Thanks! Good to hear!! I almost ruined it myself😂 luckily I stopped in time! But I am really happy with the cage mod, it works super well on the gravel bike
@@awcycling5149 Sure, You were lucky (rather had good sense) to stop at the right time, if there's one fuck** damn part that shouldn't be made of plastic, it's this one! a mistake that costs me dearly.... I'm going to mount it with a Sunrace 11-50 🤞🤞🤞
I had a bit too much cross chaining, which cause bad gearshifts in the lightest gears , but with a 46t 3mm offset my gears worked more smoothly. Soon I will install a 50t, and might try with a 12apeed chain, they are longer (124 links) and better in the cross chaining. Do you have an issue in all gears, or only in some??
@@alexanderwendelbo1447 I had problems with only some of the gears. Everytime I got working the middle gears I couldnt get it to shift to smallest sprocket. Finaly I got it when I did the indexing differently
I could fit a 11-46 with 40T front with no modifications, just with the normal GRX 812 on my Cube Nuroad. Just to mention that there are bikes where no modification is needed.
Sounds nice! I find that the official shimano specs, not always are correct, but of course you have to proceed with caution, but in many cases the derailleurs can take some more teeth. 🦷 Good riding 🤙🏼
@@awcycling5149 their specs are more on the safe side. But it depends on the geometry of the bike. I had no problems so far and the b-screw had only be adjusted a tiny bit. Good riding 🤙🏻
I don’t think the big-big works well with OSPW, it’s made for the Shimano cages. I always use the gear with least chain travel. 11 or 10 cog, Og then determine the length by taking up the slag, so the chain slag is ,just, gone in the 11/smallest cog. In my 11-46 - 46t a 114 link chain was just perfect.
They don’t make for the 5100, but maybe you could fit larger pulley wheels in the standard cage. Maybe the new tripeak pulleys would work for you. They have an offset center, to accommodate the standard cage, and still fit large pulleys.

Good vid. Thanks.
Before: 1x11, 11-42 cassette, RX-812, 44T chainring
After: 1x11, 11-46 cassette, RX-812 + Garbaruk cage & pulleys, 44T chainring, 4-links added to chain.
Rides perfectly.
I just installed my 11-46 cassette with 50t in the fron. How did you found indexing the gears? Had little trouble with that

how did you measure the chain length? shimano manual says to do the big-big method and then add 4-6 links

And a 48t would work also, but that’s the absolute max with 114 links if you ask me
Did you removed the 'super tight m4 screw' by hand while filmed this video? It seems there was threadlocker.
Yes. All by hand. But it was for sure super tight! Had to use a lot of force!
And where did you get this cage from?
@@Auggie246 this is a non-branded cage from AliExpress.
Necesito para Shimano DEORE 5100
