    We have both the MB5B and the Tech -MCT Blackout. You have done another excellent video which compares the capabilities of both bags, pro and con. You can also purchase the V-Swap 2-Bit and 4-Bit tool panels (they come in a paired set) that should work with the MB5B which can add useful space within the bag while leaving a large space for storing a drill in the front without having to sacrifice tool pouch space. Both bags are outstanding and with the additional accessories (such as a second set of the meter packet slide-in tool units), which could be used within the main bag as well, can hold a lot of hand tools! Keep up the great videos!

    I just ordered the Tech MCT Blackout because I wanted something lighter than my Tech LC. I have a tendency to overload it and I fill it more at 56 than I did 10 years ago. I still like using my MB2 for my meters and such but am wanting to divide things up with the new SB-LD. I went with the bulk storage panel for the MCT to leave room for my impacts and such on one side.

    Never thought I'd spend $250+ on a tool bag, but that spring promo was too good to pass up. I have an older Tech LC that I bought used, but wanted a slightly different config. The MCT and the MB5B are both really tempting, but I ended up with the TP-XXL blackout.

    The tech pac might surprise you. Mine is pretty heavy but it carries pretty nice. I don’t like putting it on but once it’s on I can carry it as long as needed. Only reason I am kinda thinking about the 5b is I like the single flap tool setup. Plus when I am going up on rooftops sometimes I can’t fit through the hatch with the tech pack on. Probably shouldn’t climb ladders with a heavy backpack but sometimes I forget the rope. lol.

    I like the layout and look but I think I would like the more rigid bag less floppy material. Another thing is like you said you have more space you'll use it then it's a 50lb bag. I have a saying around the jobsite "no more flat surfaces" they just collect stuff or people put their stuff all over it. Sadly I'm the one on the weekend that does cleanup duty most of the time and organizing for the upcoming week. Thoes who are self employed know first in last out and no real days off. The velcro is a easy fix get some velcro strips of each type or double sided velcro and make an adapter. I've done it with gluing the 2 types back to back or the double sided works better. The reason I'm sure is money I was looking at what pannels had cross compatability on the 29th to throw on orders to avoid shipping later but sadly not many were. I learned my lesson when I got my tp6b and wanted the bulk pannels but got it later and paid 40% in shipping over the cost of the item. Yea I'd make an adapter even my orange store has bulk velcro.

I'm going to borrow a page from your book and attach a MP1X (arriving today!) with my most-used tools to it; OR I will do the same with the TP-LC+MP1X and send the Tech MCT to my brother for his birthday. I will ponder on it. There are some tools anyone would need… but there are definitely some that it depends on what you end up doing the most.
      I would for sure on specialty stuff just buy as jobs present themselves and see what jobs you end up doing. With word of mouth business you will end up doing more of the same type jobs “like a specialist” in a way. Those people are referring you for the someone asking about the same work you did at their house
      That or after doing many things you will find out you like doing some things and would rather not do others… you can then focus the tools on what you want to do.
      I will be thinking about the anyone tools and see if I can come up with something

    MB5B I had it temporary and returned it, for upgrading my old Tech MCT to the Tech MCT Blackout. MB5B would be perfect, if the 2 side Meter pouches were detachable/modular. MB5B overall is too bulky and not perfectly proportion (to transport in the field to/from), it's essentially a Tech MCT with 2 small side Meter Bags (that are fixed and not detachable).
    Perfect Pairing is to keep the Tech MCT Blackout and simply upgrade it (to attach to either side) buy 1 or 2 MB2 Meter Bags! Tech MCT > MB5B, the Tech MCT is the perfect/ultimate modular setup, for modularity of you having the flexibility and smaller size footprint to swap between 1-2 MB2 Meter Bags (which clip-on both sides of the Tech MCT D-Rings).

    It seems like you could buy some adhesive backed hook and loop (Velcro), stick it together to make it double sided, and use it as an adapter to swap the panels between the bags. That may also make it easier to take out if it had less contact surface area. Veto really goes heavy with the Velcro. I'm sure you could get away with much less if you wanted to swap on a regular basis.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance

      Part numbers seem to be different between UK and USA. The front small panel is for the TP-XD Blackout and Tech-XXL, in the UK it is part number AX3639, USA it is VPP10285. The tool panel is also from the same bags and is part number AX3637 in UK and VPP10287 in USA. It is shorter than the MB5B panel, so I don't think it is quite the right one, but it does fit in up to the height of the press studs and then there is a couple of inches of Velcro showing through at the top.

    Great video Joey I’m still flip flopping about what I wanna do but now that tech mct is added to my consideration list.
    I do have a question about it.
    Front to bag how deep is it on the base?
    I’m considering if I would get it to add stealthmount feet to be able to add it to my rolling packout.
    So if I turn it side ways in a ideal world it would not be wider then the packout “ammo can” tool box
    Is that some thing you also own so you could compare ?

    I'm new to veto, but one of the things that annoys me a bit is that there are no internal dimensions for the bag cavities. Seeing as how you have it, do you know the dimensions for the main cavity on the mb5b? You comment about wanting to swap panels between your too bags. However, Veto released a "technician panel" for the big tech pac that's a separate panel that can sit inside the bag and act as a second panel. It isn't held by velcro, so you can grab it and go. I wouldn't be surprised if they bring it to more of their backpacks. I originally ordered the big tech pac blackout, but after seeing this new mb5b, I am on the fence about purchasing this bag as well. I don't run multiple bags for each setup. The electrical journeyman I worked with has a main tool bag, then ONE secondary bag that doesn't leave the van but contains larger, less used tools.

    That velcro is weird, very puzzling, more like a V-no-can swap. I have the bag known simply as the XL. I have too many tools in the XL so I wanted to have smaller task specific bags. I am just a DIY guy and I find myself going out to the garage to fetch tools out of this bag rather than grabbing the bag because its too heavy. Two other things I don't like about the XL is the two sides, like you mentioned. The other is it is difficult to get tall tools out of the back row because they hit the very stiff top. I have been waiting for the spring sale to purchase a TP-LC, but its tier 2 and I don't want the DP3. So I picked the TP-XD blackout because it seemed like the closest in size to the TP-LC and Tier 1. I figure the SB-LD is pretty similar a TP-LC without a flap with the bonus area on the back. The SB-LD will be my electrical work bag. I still need a low voltage bag or some extra V-swap panels because I'm not dragging that stuff around anymore unless I'm going to use it.

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  10 місяців тому +1

      I had the XL and didn’t care for it because I kept knocking it over… the base seemed small for the amount of tools you could put in it. I definitely liked the LC better for the outside pockets and the base/bag ratio was better.

    Great Info! Good point's. I do handyman work and can only afford one Veto (barely) and am having trouble deciding but saw instantly with this video the size difference but mainly the MCT blackout has the tool storage on the backside and that's what I need. Why did you choose this over the Pro Pac TP versions with the zip over covering?

    • @MORGANSMaintenance
      @MORGANSMaintenance  9 місяців тому +1

      The Tech Pacs are just too big for what I want to use. It will end up weighing too much, and I won’t need the backpack aspect of it or the MB5B often. I like the option of removing it on the MB5B.
      There was a Tech PAC MC that is a little closer to the size of the MB5B. I looked at that, but I still liked the idea of not having to be a backpack all the time.
      I say all this having not used a Tech Pac (it’s just my best guess from watching videos, etc) that’s the one downside for Veto for me. Not a lot of in person viewing before buying and not many people in my area use them for me to see theirs.
      And it’s for what I do, a Tech Pac is going to be the right fit for many people for sure.
