But now I have another problem, but after try to find the solution on internet can't find anything about this: I have a very strong propane like smell in my RV, even if I don't have the propane plugged, my dog is sneezing and I have headaches ... what else could it be?

    This explains so much. I bought a foam mattress but my bed had not arrived yet. So for a week I put the matress om the floor and I slept there. Just after a few days I noticed the mold growing from underneath the matress. I didn't know why but now I do. It was also super cold for that week.

    Hi Bill!
    Great to have a video from you and a good topic. Between that and the holes hopefully it will help. I've heard of that before but you did a nice explanation on how to set up. A friend of mine I just met was in Q and got a super deal on a Casita. The lady was looking to upgrade to something bigger. I told her how fast they sell, I'll share your YT page with her.
    Take care, hope you are doing well.
    Tina

    • @TheWillfulWanderer
      @TheWillfulWanderer  6 років тому

      Hi tinabeane, It does seem to work I've already noticed it isn't damp under there anymore after three weeks. I don't think it takes a whole lot, like it would on a boat, just enough to give it a chance to vent away. HyperVent has been out there for a while, I just found a bunch of misc info about it along with lower prices so I figured it was worth a video.
      Casitas do sell crazy fast at times, when I bought mine they'd usually be sold the first day you'd see the ad. I was lucky I bought it in January during a cold spell up near Atlanta, I guess it was too cold for anyone else to trailer shop. I barely got the title in time to register it before I headed to Mardi Gras. So now that you've been to Q what rig looks good to ya? Take care, Bill

    • @tinabeane
      @tinabeane 6 років тому

      Hi Bill, I didn't look at many rigs there. I honestly just don't know if I want to tow. There are some places that rent out small trailers, so think I will do that first to test it out. I'm planning on selling my house hopefully this year. Will just car camp for a while in the Santa Fe. I did check out a Runaway Camper at the RTR (Company is in Florida). It was nice, was tall enough to stand up inside and the guy got it for 9K. Buying in the off season is a good idea.

      @@TheWillfulWanderer Hey, great video. I have a very very damp / moist problem under my bed to the point where the wood is about to give way. I checked the window when it's raining today really hard and it doesn't seem that there are any drops of water coming from the window, although the windows and door in here are a big cause of moisture for now...
      So this means it's just that moist in here and my body temp is that high that it will create that much dampness? I understand a little bit but man it's very wet under there.
      Thanks!

      @@hankontheroad5960 Is there anything I need to treat the mattress with a big water/moisture spot that's been on it for a while? It looks to me like it's probably soaked through the cover. Also with the board completely soaked to the point where it's almost giving in is there something I need to do about that situation? Sorry for all the questions man but thanks for the videos!

    • @TheWillfulWanderer
      @TheWillfulWanderer  6 років тому +1

      I missed your "shouldn't miss" list hahaha....but I do know that's where I turn off the BRP for the Super Wal mart about a mile or so west on the north side of the road. The museum is on my list to do next time I do the BRP, that and the Biltmore in Asheville. I've done it at least 6 times and I still have a list of things to do on my next trip.
      There's definitely a lot you can do on and just off the parkway. Sometimes I just stay on the parkway the whole trip except to get off for gas and groceries (that WM above is one of my resupply stops). 550 miles (including Skyline Drive) of very scenic drive with overlooks, recreation areas, trailheads, campgrounds. lodges and throw in a lake, waterfall, misc old cabins and a watermill. It's nice to slow travel for days and even weeks without any commercial signage etc., you can't do that anywhere else in the country. N GA and of course the Smokies are great stops along the way to the start (or end actually) of the BRP.

    Thanks for this video. I have been looking for a product like this but, like you, found everything to be so expensive. I have a couple of questions. Do you think I need to drill holes in my plywood if I am using this? (presently I don't have any.) Will there be any concern with the underside of this product scratching and damaging the fiberglass I have a 17' Spirit Deluxe. I have missed your videos. They have been very helpful for me, not only as a new Casita owner, but as a newbie RVer.

    • @TheWillfulWanderer
      @TheWillfulWanderer  6 років тому +1

      Hi Pidasian Hippie, You may not have to drill holes if you have an edge that is open so air flow can get to the hypervent. You can run your hand over the spun plastic it's not that sharp, the edges though where the loops are cut through are another story. I can't see any scratches in the FG and really don't think it will scratch it. The edges might scratch you up if you were walking past and scraped against it wrong, definitely something you don't want on the back of your legs when you get in and out of bed either. Thanks for the compliment and take care, Bill

      The Willful Wanderer corplast might be a good option and maybe poke some holes in the flat part going to see what I can’t find out here

      Corplast is like a corrugated box like material but in plastic isn't it? It seems like you'll just trap the moisture on top of it?

    NEVER buy anything from a boating or marine reseller... the markup will be absolutely sky high. They gouge the living hell out of boaters, who they figure have enough money to pay whatever for convenience.

      Actually the second cheapest price I could find was at Defender, a reasonably well know budget marine place. BUT Mattress Insider (the cheapest) was the only seller I found who was not a marine vendor Hahaha. Most of the articles and other resources I found about HyperVent all seemed to recommend the most expensive places to by it. Bill

      How well did the vent hols work? Ive been considering making mine out of palet boards wondering if I should still use the dry away stuff

      If you use slats that allow ventilation underneath you should be fine, the changes I made are working perfectly, I'm very happy. Bill
