I tried to see your recipe for fly spray, and procedures but when I enlarged it, it was blurry. Would you be able to pm me and tell me more ? We are working on expanding our PTSD ranch for kids and adults, and I think for kids that are nervous about the larger equine mini donkeys will be a great addition. We did have a goat that kids and adults loved but the HOA rules didn’t allow him. Sincere question...why is pasture bad for them?

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm
      @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm  2 місяці тому

      @@pathfinderwellcare I probably should have said “Lush Pasture” - Donkeys are desert animals & have very efficient digestive systems. So, rich foods, feeds or grasses can make them gain weight very easily. Short stints on sparse pasture is okay - It’s all about “Management” ❤️

      Yes - Way too many people take in animals before realizing the level of responsibility involved and then just throw them away. Donkeys have become very popular which has severely increased the volume seen in auctions because they are so much work - Very Sad... Thanks for your comment.

    Who would do all that work if the donkey was in a natural wild environment 🤔

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm
      @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm  10 місяців тому

      I guess the purpose of your question is to ask; "What is the difference in health between Wild vs. Domesticated Donkeys?" Because of good care, as is seen in this video, donkeys as pets can live upwards of 30 years. Much longer than those in the wild without such care. Just like many animals kept in captivity vs. being in the wild, they are healthier and can live a lot longer due to the overall care they receive. Hopefully this answers your question.

    I'm an animal person and I understand the dedication and commitment of pets but gosh domesticated animals have really become weak. I have 10 acres in TN and looking to fence in five acres to start, with hot wire too but now your telling me the animals are not good to be on pasture where they would be looking after the goats. You just can't win in 2023 knowing that the next economic collapse is going to put us back to pre industrial age.

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm
      @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm  Рік тому +4

      A lot of folks put full size donkeys out in pastures as “Guardians” of various other animals (goats, cattle, sheep etc). And that’s okay (in my opinion) as long as you understand the possible risks. Donkeys were meant for arid climates. Their coats are not water resistant & their hooves don’t do well in wet conditions. If you’re going to do this I would suggest you provide a small section of the pasture dedicated as a “Dry Area” with a roofed 3 sided shelter from all the rain we get here in Tennessee. This area would not only benefit the donkey but the goats as well. Lush pasture is not good for donkeys but in your case your pasture won’t be lush having goats on it anyways. Having a good Farrier Looking after the donkey’s hooves will be important as well. Their hooves are a window to the health. And yes we are in dire straits here in this country today - God save us 🙏
