Out of the 28 inch Barrel 410 Shotgun it'll be around 1700 FPS which will stop a intruder with no problem at all. I've been shooting the 410 Shotgun since 1982 and I have to say it's the most under rated gun ! People need to realize that 3 inch shells with a slug out of a 28 Inch 410 Shotgun Barrel is more powerful than a 357 Magnum hitting with some rounds over 2000 FPS due to the longer Barrel that many people don't factor into its performance. Ive hit steel targets at 450 yards with 410 Slugs with no problem with a antique 28 Inch 410 Shotgun 😂

That's a pre-fragmenting .44 Magnum! Better than actual slugs for sure, looks like a decent hardness of the alloy.

Reminiscent of the old "buck and ball" loads from the Civil War. Except they were fired from .69 caliber muskets.

A valuable lesson learned here that them there rounds will do just fine out of a .410 shotgun which makes it easy for old folks and weak women to use in self defense.

The rounds look effective. The deformation of the slug may be from the round ball slamming into it while traveling down the barrel. That looks like mushed from the rear.

It's the best round I've seen so far for them. I've had the snub nose public defender and one of the 6.5 inch barrel revolvers. Its definitely a good performer in those. My 6.5 inch barrel got the same size group at 10 yards as his mossberg. I get about a 3 to 8 inch group with it at 20 yards.

Just a note that these did not work for me out of my steel Judge inherited from my father. I could swear I've shot them from it before a few years ago without any issues, but I bought three boxes this year and literally 5-10 our of each box would jam my Judge so tight you could not open the cylinder. I keep my guns impeccably clean and had a Gun Smith check it to see if I needed to polish the cylinders or something else. He tested it with different .410 brands and said my Judge was fine, it was the Hornady Critical Defense rounds. He said the shells expand too much jamming it, one even blew the primer out a bit. PDX and similar work flawlessly, maybe it is just an issue with what Hornday is manufacturing this year (2024), but I won't put it in my Judge anymore. That is a critical flaw in a carry gun.

Slug goes where you aim & balls go high? That sounds like it was built for self-defense, the slug hits center-mass and the balls pepper the neck & face.

Yes they’ll be fine. The slug is hollow based and probably pure lead, so it’ll swage down to choke diameter. The round balls are .35” and absolutely no issue there, as a full choke is .396” I believe.
They will shoot fine. Just don’t expect any real long range accuracy.

Hopefully you were smart to stock up on reloading supplies BEFORE communist china unleashed their virus on us. I bought a 50 dollar Mec600jr and made sure to stock up on Little Gun powder, 3 thousand 3/8" chromium steel ball bearings, a thousand WAA410 wads, and a thousand 209 primers.
