@@Gzaerix English pirates would have come from the English Navy, so your theory certainly holds water. The pirates would play the music they knew, which to us would probably be traditional Celtic tunes. Funny thing to note is that J.S. Bach was alive during the time of the Golden Age of Piracy (Bach: 1685-1750; G.A.P.: 1690-1730) so pirate music could probably have been influenced by Baroque music as well.

Most pirates were former Navy sailors and/or straight merchants who turned to piracy as a form of protest against horrible pay, inhumane working conditions, tyrannical captains, and the general power and hegemony of elite mercantile proto-corporations like the East India Company that were squelching out smaller businesses in the name of power and profit.

Great piece of composition. I felt that the melody was off from time to time and I felt like the canons at the end took away from the grandeur of the song. Otherwise, I loved it. Keep up the great work!
When i first heard this i feel like my hand suddenly make a snake dancing and my head just like in and out,just like ancient egyptian painting. I feel this music weird because the rythm is like ancient egypt depiction music but Now for almost 3 years this is my 2nd most hearing music behind Hiroyuki sawano - YouSeeBigGirl. ( when usually people just hear the same music at most 1 month ) the unique element like this music is very hard too find.

I might be wrong, never researched this. I feel many pirates used to be English navy, which in the lower ranks could have been mostly Scottish.
