“In the early days, sales is all about filtering: finding the people who don’t need to be convinced. The people who are excited to receive your email, the people who have been waiting to receive an email.” Excellent point!
Making this kind of videos made me like YC so much. You can be anywhere in the world and get the advice that normally would require knowing top performers in the market.
Thank you Michael for all the advice. Doing the stomach ache tasks first has helped me a lot. I'm always scared to even touch what seems hard, but once I get started, I'm usually surprised how fast it can get done. Writing out the small steps to finish the big stomach ache tasks helps me put everything in perspective and I focus on the little tasks one at a time until the entire big task is finished.
I think this is something that everyone of us know. Your mom, your pop, your kindergarten teacher and basically everyone told you "do your homework first, play afterwards" when you were 4-5-6-7 years old. And yet, we don't do it. Just like we know we should study more, read more books instead of watching TV, do pushups until failure instead of 2 reps of 10 and then rest, and so on, and so on. So, yeah, it goes to discipline versus intelligence. I know lots of dumb people that make lots of money by just doing things. Maybe they're not doing them in the most sophisticated way but they're doing something and it happens to work.
The only advice I'm not following is saying it wasn't art. It is art. It is great craftmanship with heart. I taught myself everything to build the product for 3 years. I have been a mapper forever and this is my greatest map.
Most comprehensive list of advices, yet so succinct. You are a blessing for human race, please keep sharing.
