The concepts he talked about for the jester race have come true. Anders is a smart guy, I just wish he didn't get so much crap over wanting to incorporate melodic singing to the bands sound. I don't personally like it but I applaud him for being willing to stay true to his vision regardless of what people expect within a genre.
Andres your music and the power that you give to the people and to the crowd guitar solos drums bass and amazing vocals to play as a band and as musicians to win the audience with so much strange and energy to be the best and the fastest growing metal band in the world inflames is forever rock fans Alex
Ander’s hoodie in the front is a Hyprocrisy Abducted hoodie, but the back is Dissection. I’ve seen the Hypocrisy Abducted hoodie with their own similar logo on the back, but the back of this one is clearly Dissection’s logo. Bootleg hoodie?
back when in flames music used to come natural and they didnt sit down and think "we should do this"... and now its 2016 and the band has since 16 years basicly sat at every album thinking "we should do this" "how do we progress the sound from this point on" basicly thinking too much, they should have kept the idea of letting music come natural and not overthink and overproduce an album, yeah i like sense of purpose and some other songs in the modern in flames but nothing flows like the classic albums colony and clayman.
@EKAA25 I don't think they meant they hate all popular music, that would be a ridiculous statement, what he probably meant was music that was popular at that time, like he said backstreet boys etc.
i cant know whether they sold out or not for sure, but ive seen a lot of interviews of them speaking on that matter and i think that they truly just dont want to play the same thing over and over again on each album. i saw an interview with Bjorn back when Clayman was coming out and he said that they used to be a bit of a studio band, so i think they also changed because they wanted the songs to be fun to play live. it might sound naive but i kind of believe them. who knows for sure though.
@dimgrav I partially agree with you, but WE are the ones that make a band big by buying their albums, so why can't the musicians make good album in return?
Not "no shit". You're saying they are bad now because they changed and you said they didn't change properly. It's all debatable. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's complete garbage. I thought Reroute and Come Clarity were great albums.
I know..... it was a joke I made, In Flames said on the A Sense of Purpose DVD that Bjorn sucks at Guitar Hero and they said in another interview that drummers are better in general than normal guitar players.......
@91tonymontana haha thanks man. there was definetly alot more clean vocals on clayman, but it still had that good old inflames feel... now... no way ;/
they dont owe us anything. if you like the album you can buy it, if you dont then you dont have to, and meanwhile the artist can make whatever the fuck they want. also, they are trying to make "good" albums, but since "good" is a subjective term theyre not pleasing everyone, which is fine. they only need to please themselves and release a record they like and that theyre proud of.
I think you're right, but apart from the money, you'd also want to make good music, right? Besides, how do you know if In Flames didn't change their music to make more money? I think I'm trying to say the exact same thing as you, but there are a lot of artists that unfortunately work in the way I mentioned. I'm not saying In Flames does, but a lot of bands do. Unfortunately, some people (Like Lars Ulrich) only need more and more money.
@samlovemetal I think your wrong but thats just my 27yr old opinion. Its not the same and perhaps you prefer the older in flames. Yeah they have changed, they evolved into something differant....thats life brother man. I definitly didnt like it as much the first few times through but it grew on me.
ofc not, he didn't join until later when Björn took over guitars instead of Glenn and Johan left the band. Björn was the original "set in stone lineup" drummer.
I don't see how they suck at change. It's just the direction they want to go in. It's not like they were all "FUCK I can't change into this sound I want!" Obviously they're doing what they like, and I say either like it or don't. I respect their decision. Musicians should have the right to pursue the music they want to make without someone shitting all over them about it.
@sunforger9087 His new project he is doing is going to be more alternative. Jesper is first and foremost a songwriter, one of the greats. Can't people just appreciate music and what musicians give to put it out there. I'm glad they changed. If I wanted to listen to another Jester Race or Lunar Strain, I'll just go listen to those. Now I have something completely different to appreciate and listen to over and over again. In Flames We Trust. Past, Present, and Future. Fuck the haters.
@MrComeclarity I am a fan of InFlames, i have been for 12 years. But your probably right regarding the band members leaving on their own accord... im just bitter. Coming from a guy named "MrComeClarity" id expect you to flip out at me, like the hordes of 13-17 year olds do when i say they suck now. But yeah... their latest album sucks.. :(
yeah, the change they chose to make was bad. if they changed and their music didnt suck then i wouldnt have a problem with it, im fine with bands experimenting. so change is only a problem when bands suck at it. also, you seem to be asserting that i think my opinion is fact when i didnt say that anywhere.
anders wasn't very familiar with english at that time hehe.. and doesnt seem very enthousiastic... anyway this must be the oldest in flames interview on youtube so still fucking epic xD
bjorn has that damn beard since he was a baby
+mau97100 LOL
Crazy seeing them this young, and hearing "Björn on drums"
OMFG!!! JESPER SPOKE in 1996!! (saving in favorites)
Anders even after 20 years is still as awkward in front of a camera as he was back in '96, god.
These guys are true legends, I personally like their older stuff better but they continue to make amazing music.
The concepts he talked about for the jester race have come true. Anders is a smart guy, I just wish he didn't get so much crap over wanting to incorporate melodic singing to the bands sound. I don't personally like it but I applaud him for being willing to stay true to his vision regardless of what people expect within a genre.
holy crap! theyre so young!!!!
So cuuuute!
I know its amazing how far they have come after all these years since their humble beginning originally in the early 90s. long live IN FLAMES!
It makes me cry when I see their old style. I really want to go back in time.
Funny, it was hard to speak in english for Anders :) He was so young!
he used to write the lyrics in swedish and then the other bandmembers would translate them
Actually, it was Niclas sundin from dark tranquility who translated Anders's lyrics
He sounded OK to me.
I find the "machine" part interesting. Since '96, we've made a huge leap to that direction.
So weird seeing Anders clean shaven haha
wow! 96!
They still are amazing. maybe even better
Buenizimo como canta!!!! Great!!!
Awesome. Just awesome.
Andres your music and the power that you give to the people and to the crowd guitar solos drums bass and amazing vocals to play as a band and as musicians to win the audience with so much strange and energy to be the best and the fastest growing metal band in the world inflames is forever rock fans Alex
Lol sweedes are much like us norwegians, can be pretty shy and awkward..
Ser Bronn of the blackwater and pretty epic
Pewdiepie and anomaly tell me otherwise
Ander’s hoodie in the front is a Hyprocrisy Abducted hoodie, but the back is Dissection. I’ve seen the Hypocrisy Abducted hoodie with their own similar logo on the back, but the back of this one is clearly Dissection’s logo. Bootleg hoodie?

Wow! Bjorn was on Drums!!! NIceeeee!!!
Jester is a genius. One of my most respected musicians.
Anders: "The trend for death metal has ended so now we are not selling many records"
So that's why :)
They looked like kids in my neighborhood :D, also great IF funs and big time enthusiast about starting their MDM bend.
bjorn was a drummer in 1996? i thought only earlier
What is the opening song on this video
@ForestOfNecromancyYT Yeah, I think they weren't used to giving interviews back then.
what is the name of the song at the beginning? this acoustic guitar
good observation...
WOW!!!
frow what year is this vid. according to how the guys look it must be from somthing like 1995 since they look like they're in their early 20ies
The Best.
sorry, but what did anders mean to tell us with "the machine"?????
@EKAA25
I don't think they meant they hate all popular music, that would be a ridiculous statement, what he probably meant was music that was popular at that time, like he said backstreet boys etc.
i feel the same way, i mean Jesper is the brain behind the band, he dosent get as much attention as he deserves!
whats the song at the beginning?
They changed so much
daniel wasnt in the band yet
Whats that song?
no no i just roughly translated it, he says it in swedish and that's the translation
i cant know whether they sold out or not for sure, but ive seen a lot of interviews of them speaking on that matter and i think that they truly just dont want to play the same thing over and over again on each album. i saw an interview with Bjorn back when Clayman was coming out and he said that they used to be a bit of a studio band, so i think they also changed because they wanted the songs to be fun to play live. it might sound naive but i kind of believe them. who knows for sure though.
@arttizrock Actually, this is young Anders lol.
What band did he say he likes the most? couldnt hear it that well. at the end.
Atheist
Nowadays he's probably into some good ol' *insert current hipster band here*
@@rafaellago172 he liked dinosaur jr it can't be that bad
@Megnanus English?
@dimgrav I partially agree with you, but WE are the ones that make a band big by buying their albums, so why can't the musicians make good album in return?
@sunforger9087 Read our previous conversation on here. It'll make sense.
Not "no shit". You're saying they are bad now because they changed and you said they didn't change properly. It's all debatable. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's complete garbage. I thought Reroute and Come Clarity were great albums.

haha thanks man.
there was definetly alot more clean vocals on clayman, but it still had that good old inflames feel... now... no way ;/
Ander's favorite band back then was Atheist. fucking awesome.
öhh, va? WoW kom ju inte ut förrän typ 2004 :P
Bjorn still has his awesome beard going on back in the past lol
alla heter glenn i göteborg!! skoja
omg old! :D
he is
I know swedish people aren't renowned for screaming around all the time but damn, they all seem very shy ^^
0 dislikes, i like.
90s music for Scandinavia was melodeath instead of grunge
they dont owe us anything. if you like the album you can buy it, if you dont then you dont have to, and meanwhile the artist can make whatever the fuck they want. also, they are trying to make "good" albums, but since "good" is a subjective term theyre not pleasing everyone, which is fine. they only need to please themselves and release a record they like and that theyre proud of.
hold on they had a differnt bass,second guitarst,and drumers.wow...
I think you're right, but apart from the money, you'd also want to make good music, right? Besides, how do you know if In Flames didn't change their music to make more money? awww anders is so cute trying to say sentences in english
@samlovemetal I think your wrong but thats just my 27yr old opinion. Its not the same and perhaps you prefer the older in flames. Yeah they have changed, they evolved into something differant....thats life brother man. I definitly didnt like it as much the first few times through but it grew on me.
It's just because Jesper never wants to say anything, he hates being interviewed he avoids it as much as he can.
When they were great😢
bjorn was firstly playing drums then moved to lead guitar
Look at them shy and nervous, man they grew up
1:04 John Travolta with long hair sorta !!
Anders loosing his hair :(
ofc not, he didn't join until later when Björn took over guitars instead of Glenn and Johan left the band. Björn was the original "set in stone lineup" drummer.

In Flames We Trust. Past, Present, and Future.
Fuck the haters.
@sunforger9087 I'm gonna take that as you understand.
@samlovemetal wow....
"Like Backstreet Boys and stuff like that: I hate it"
Epic.
i was close enough lol
jag hade det i tankarna men jag trodde inte nån hade koll
@vincentjurg Not all people share the same taste. If we don't like an album, we just don't buy it.
omfg .. he does too! jesus christ .. how old would've he been back then? 23? 22? he looks like an angry teen haha.
and bjorn is skinny as!
Bjorn on drums o_O
I always think Anders looks like Ian Hecox from Smosh.
+stephen huang Yeah, I agree. Pretty much alike. But not super. But I get you!
I like Anders' Hypocrisy hoodie
for anyone who cares, at 3:54, Glenn says "I like the more harder, brutal-er style of music"
omfg soo young xD :)
hah so very true
yeah, the change they chose to make was bad. if they changed and their music didnt suck then i wouldnt have a problem with it, im fine with bands experimenting. so change is only a problem when bands suck at it. also, you seem to be asserting that i think my opinion is fact when i didnt say that anywhere.
wow at bjorn. so strange
Bjorn on drums
anders wasn't very familiar with english at that time hehe.. and doesnt seem very enthousiastic... anyway this must be the oldest in flames interview on youtube so still fucking epic xD
Johan hated popular music! everyone was so pure back then. someone has to seriously beat some sense back into Anders
Anders sounds nervous
haha yee anders " My favorite band is Atheist, american technical death metal"
@SzudemH47 moonshield
@inflamesmetalll
I disagree, they were fucking awesome.
Now they are great :/
But what can we do, it's their band :/
he's a metal god, not your sophomore english teacher
Anders diden't got Dreadlocks in -The Jester Rack - Whoracle - Colony - Clayman - reroute to remain -.
