Excellent assessment of the current state of Trek. Agree with all your main points. Have you checked out the Shuttlepod Show podcast with the guys from Enterprise? Many of the TNG and DS9 actors are on it spilling the tea. Great interviews. What do you think of Lower Decks? I unashamedly enjoy LD for what it is: mindless and silly and full of fun references to all Trek. The chief medical officer is a cat-person. Good to see you back. Peace and long life.

Awww, TNG was my childhood obsession, dreaming of an empathetic, equitable future...away with this current bleak dystopian sci-fi that's obsessed with violent action scenes over gently paced storytelling. Best episode ever (with award-winning screenplay): "The Inner Light," which had a little Scottish connection with the variation on the Skye Boat Song used for Picard's flute melody. Left me in tears. "Voyager" episode "Counterpoint" also ranks up there for me in the Trek universe, compelling writing for the leads in the two-hander tradition of theater.

Discovery & Strange New Worlds? Turned both off during the first episode. Don't remember why with Discovery. Strange New Worlds first episode has an away team masquerading as inhabitants of an alien planet. Been done to death.

oh mate, kindred spirits! Those two episodes are among my favourites too. Counterpoint doesn't get the classic love that it deserves!

Absolutely right about the first episode of SNW, but I promise it finds its feet soon after. I absolutely loved pretty much that whole season!
