No MEP can propose a new law or bill to change anything within the EU, they are only there to vote on what the EU commission or Council proposes. No such proposal by the unelected hierarchy and voted for by a majority of MEPs requires all member states to agree to it. Only when a new treaty or a change to an existing treaty are proposed, eg Brexit, is each member states consent required unanimously
Even if every MEP from the UK was vehemently opposed to a Bill and vote against it the UK would have had to accept it regardless of what that may mean for the UK.
If it was still truly just an aconomic trading block and not a political union as it has become none of this turmoil would have happened.
The economy of the UK done very well before the EEC and will do so after. Any problems will result in not only the UK and Ireland suffering, but also the EU as a whole.
