    SCUBA diving around Fiji several years ago. About 6 barracudas were swimming in a straight line not too far away. I had a Nikonos film camera at the time abd decided to get a little closer for a pic. I had my eye on the viewfinder as I swam toward them. I got the shot and lowered the camera. Turned out that I was quite close to them due to the viewfinder's view vs. real world. T thought "This could be very bad", but I just hovered in the water. They showed absolutely no interest in me. When we got back in the boat I asked the divemaster if I was being stupid. He shrugged and said he'd dived around them for years and had never seen any aggression. He said "I'd never try to pet one, but other than that, they are just another ocean creature in their space. We weren't invited, but they usually tolerate us."

      @@blondegirlsezthis8798 The pool all the kids pee in without properly wiping their butts? That small space of stink and disease? Ma'am, have you ever seen a floater? Before I got goggles, I would feel a slap against my head every once in a while. I got goggles and started to stay on alert, that's when I learned about the floaters. A piece of poop that floats on the pool surface. Always suspect the fat kids, something about being lazy, they just go in the water.

      No doubt, I'm 6ft tall and I was freediving in Egypt I swam over the reef and at first I didn't even see it but right above me a huge barracuda swam over that was about as big as me. It swam just inches away and nothing happened. They're not aggressive towards humans but I imagine that maybe in the past they could've been, they used to be absolutely huge apparently.

    In the late 1960s I was skin diving off a beach in South Florida(Ft Lauderdale) in water that was about 20 ft deep along a rock jetty. Out of nowhere, a single barracuda appeared and stopped facing me about 3 or 4 feet away. He just lingered there for about 10 seconds looking at me and then disappeared. I think he was attracted to the sparkling light from sunlight reflecting off of the bright metal on my face mask. After the encounter, I shot out of the water like a Polaris missile and hightailed it for shore. I never skin-dived at that spot again.

    The Orca is the apex predator of the sea, they routinely eat Great White Sharks' fatty and highly nutritious livers as a favourite delicacy while often discarding the remainder of the carcasses. Sharks flee when Orcas are around. Orcas are the perfect combination of intelligence, speed, power and teamwork and unlike Great White Sharks, Orcas have no natural predators.

    All fish are in THEIR element and it is OUR risk to enter it. No fish is bad! However wearing a position light in a night dive has induced barracudas to hunt it thus hurting divers. Staying close in larger groups is safer. Avoid fixing the light to the valve as it is close to your neck but rather to the tank belt.

    Barracudas in the open ocean are very dangerous.
    You don't want to shoot it or provoke it, most likely to launch straight at you. Any Barracuda over 5ft, attacking you, is surely a fatal affair.

      @TJD656 Місяць тому

      Korn dog, how many Cuda's have attach you, if someone put a spear in me I would attach them too. So, best thing to do is don't provoke them. They are one of the fastest fish in the water and you can't out move them. I did say out swim them, you don't have a chance.
      I have cought a few in my life time on rod and reel, the speed of them going thru the water is incredible.

      My brothers and I use to fish all night on channel 5 bridge, between Fiesta and Craig Key the bridge is 2 miles long, at the halfway mark, under the bridge was a cross-over, we would camp their. It would connect one cat walk to the other. One early morning walking to get the truck to load up, that one mile back the water was super clear, I counted 52 Cuda's each one was a wall hanger. I wouldn't want to try to pet them. Those were good times.

    They aren't dangerous to men at all. I've taken many as a spearfisherman as have dozens of people in my circle and we have never had an issue. What a load of bs!

    One minute in a bald eagle is overdubbed with the sound of a red tailed hawk. BS. Fake. Not accurate video. Watch something else.

    Not True. Apocaliptic Like seeker. I'v caught/spearfished several hundreds of Cudas, The bigest about 6 Ft and 40 lbs. Yet they grow much bigger, 7 Ft and about 80 lbs. Old and wise didn't let me get close for a shot. Buddy of mine did get one. I'm more wary arround big Morrays than Cuda's

    Kilometers is pronounced kilo-meters, same as kilo-grams.
    Not ka-lom-it-ters.
    No one says ka-log-rams for kilograms.

      Wrong. Australians, Brits, New Zealanders… hell, anybody who isn't an AMERICAN pronounces it "ka-lomi-ters".
      Stick to your stone age units of measurement, Yank.
