What I meant was the way it was pronounced, it sounded like he was referring to as Allister as just someone, Allister is a legend. I would say "it's great to have remastered content from the legend himself that brought us the original music" and just for the record I know Allister, worked with him and knew he was also working on the remastered versions of Driver music to us talking about it, needing the original samples/XM's to bring this to life.
@@AmigaFreak77 Don't worry, "from someone" was just referring to "from someone who worked on the games" because the studio Ubisoft Reflections or past devs aren't saying much (and of course even less doing something). Martin Edmondson last media appareance was in 2014 for exemple (Shadows of the beast documentary) :(
@@VortexStory thanks for replying back with a sensible approach. I know Martin well, use to live in my home town as did Reflections once upon a time. I saw Martin at Amiga 30UK event a while back around 2015 and he was amazed by fans love of the games he worked on still after all these years going back to Amiga days still. He did a written testimonial on my documentary for Allister Brimble for his time on Driver expressing his admiration for his work.
So fancy! Love how you mixed the old samples with brand new ones, it really brings the song to life and keeps its original charm. The transition from cruise to chase was as smooth as butter. Honestly, this just begs for a Driver 2 remake. The thought of revisiting all those landmarks in the four cities with this genuine level of faithfulness in the music is too much for us. It might feel like a pipe dream, but after all, anything is possible today with remakes. Hats off to you Allister, and keep em' coming!
2:03 Caine: Our driver went down, the medics got him in a convoy. Tanner: Is he bad? Caine: He ain't good, but we gotta get help down that can slap him back together. Tanner: Will he squeal? Caine: Save us the bother of finding out... *hangs up the phone
Incredible work! Totally worth the wait. The fact that you kept the original guitars but also remade everything else makes the track sound authentic and modern at the same time, it hasnt lost its touch at all. Looking forward for the next ones!
What you are doing sir is truly impressive. Reworking the entire soundtrack of a game 20 years after its release without any official plans from the creators about a new release. You are a true artist motivated by good taste and not by money alone. I congratulate you and utterly thank you, you are a gift to the people that still value these games.
Can't even describe the feeling. Thank you so much for this, Allister. Always been obsessed with the Driver 2 OST and hearing these is out of this world.
I had a 1965 Dodge Polara when I was in Hawaii just a few years ago...Big four-door sedan with the original 383 Chrysler in it- Awesome car it was! It came over from Nevada, the Vegas area specifically. Still had the Nevada plate on it when I bought it. Oh, how I'd love to have driven that land yacht through Las Vegas on a cool, starry night. Now this... this is the only appropriate track for that scenario! 😂
What am I seeing? I'm totally amazed! It's great to see you active and back with one of my favorite games that you've been involved with on the soundtrack!
He even said in one of the TecFox uploads that he has Driver's original music files with him and that he only asked to send him the original files for the second game that was lost with the developer studio at the time, I believe, but who knows it would be a possibility to remaster the Driver soundtrack as well.
Eduardo Teodoro Other way round I believe, he had the Driver 2 files (which is why all of them have apparently been remastered now) but had lost his Driver 1 XM's.
Wow, I'm totally amazed! I played the first two Driver games a lot and I always loved the music in these two games a lot because they give the cities, the missions a certain flair which they wouldn't have without these great tracks. Listening to these remastered tunes takes me back to my childhood when I was enjoying most of the missions (except this ambulance one in Vegas xD), getting chased by cops or just driving around town listening to the music. I even had the Test Mission Theme playing in my car when I was on my way to my driving test for the truck xD Anyway, it's really nice to see that there are still many people out there who like Driver and keep it alive. Thanks to you, Mr. Brimble, for your work, which is a masterpiece in my opinion :D
I like the music its very nice, very smooth, nice mix with the old and new, thx for this. Probably the best music lol. Just a little sad both the chase and drive tracks are in one video, so can it be normal again?
Loved this new Driver 2 LV at day soundtrack remaster. The cymbal beats at the start of the LV chase theme (2:02) reminds me of the cymbal beats of the soundtrack, 'Rockin River', from the GBA version of Driver 2. (the cymbal beats start at 0:08). My god that sounds so damn good. I cant wait to hear havana at day and police chase at day i like the chase at day in havana music i cant wait for the remastered
In the Game Boy Advance version of Driver 2, there's 2 songs that aren't in the PS1 version. The other songs in that version are GBA versions of your PS1 music. I noticed on Mobygames it lists someone else as doing the music for the GBA, were those 2 new songs based off of unused tracks you did for the PS1, or were they something the other composer made himself?
Did you get the sampled guitars from their original uncompressed sources or did you simply reuse them from the XM files? I can't quite tell from comparisons. Great job so far, I unfortunately am not very well accustomed to "Las Vegas At Day" as kid me wasn't good enough to get that far in the game, but comparing it with the original it's a perfect remaster IMO! The brass is the most noticeable upgrade, and the HQ drums are great too. Can't wait for Chicago At Day/Night in particular, as those two tracks are probably my favourites.
The guitars (the main riffs) were just exported from the XM files. They were uncompressed in the XM but at 22khz so were good enough quality to use. Compression only came in when we ran the XM through a utility to convert to .VAG ADPCM sample format on the PS1.
@@allisterbrimble1 I thought you've used Akai guitar samples in here, cause I noticed the Wah-wah sounds a bit different than the in-game. Still nice to hear it!
Why wont they make a hd version of driver 1 2 and 3 i miss these games but i still play these till this day and you need to remake the music for the hd remake that would be perfect we need to bring these games back i love driver
Hey Allister, there’s something interesting that I found: It turns out that last month they found a prototype from a Gameboy Color game which is Superman: Battle for Metropolis, and the music (which is amazing for a prototype) sounds identical to your style. Did you were involved at all with that game or not? Here, for anyone that is interested: ua-cam.com/video/u0aOEwD70Ug/v-deo.html
Perfect for the 20th anniversary of DRIVER 2!
At least we got new remastered content about DRIVER from someone, thanks!
