I honestly think Cardi is afraid to fail. There's so much pressure around her and she can't handle it. Besides rap, you have people side-eyeing her marriage, twitter rants, image, etc. Plus, when you reach the top, it's scary to think that your next album could be a flop. I think wap was a blessing and a curse for her. Her first album had a lot of trap songs. She came out with bodak yellow and the hood mess with that song. Yes, Cardi B was part of the first wave to take out Nicki, and she succeeded to the point where it opened doors for many women to also fight for their place in rap. Now, the field is overcrowded and honestly there are more quality rappers than Cardi (regardless of how entertaining she is). I heard Like What and didn’t like it (as a fan) but the video put me on. These videos are everything and that is what makes her an entertainer, she’s doing great in that regard. Do I think she is scared? No, I think she is aware that now isn’t really her time and trying to keep up could easily make or break her. Meg the social climber (also a fan) has taken the torch if you will. I think the other issue for Cardi is the industry set the bar high with her debut, and now she is an awkward position to do the same or better.

Proof that Grammys lost all credibility. Most of these recent wins over the last couple of years were direct retaliation against those with real talent. Here we have Cardi someone that lacks the intellect and grit to be an artist versus Nicki the legend. Nicki was crazy to think that talentless Cardi was a threat. Cardi said on more than one occasion that she is only in the industry for money.
I think Cardi should take the seasoned musician route, where they stop putting music out but still stay involved by producing or featuring. Also, I don't think "fizzling out" is the right description, but more like "settling". Folks needed time to figure out what they wanted out their women rappers, ya know? I agree with pretty much everything. I think her features are probably what are gonna draw people in the most cause they're consistently 🔥. Put it on da floor and Tomorrow 2 are the most obvious and successful but her features on Point Me 2 and Kay Flock's Shake It were soo good. Tbh I think doing a drill inspired album would be a good turn for her, she doesn't miss on a drill beat.

cardi's rise to success was based off the GP and record labels wanting another mainstream female rapper to dominate things besides Nicki and not actual talent as a lyricist and rapper.
idk how anyone can say she had a natural push when literally every celebrity under the sun that ain't never posted anything about female rap suddenly was publicly posting about streaming invasion of privacy. you literally couldn't go 3 seconds alone without some celebrities posting on they stories about cardi b and the album wasn't even all that.
Cardi doesn't have a single song in her discography that will be relevant 20 years from now. and I'm not counting wap because that was a collab and the song was lowkey only popular because of its hyper sexual lyrics.

Proof that Grammys lost all credibility. Most of these recent wins over the last couple of years were direct retaliation against those with real talent. Here we have Cardi someone that lacks the intellect and grit to be an artist versus Nicki the legend. Nicki was crazy to think that talentless Cardi was a threat. Cardi said on more than one occasion that she is only in the industry for money.
I think Cardi should take the seasoned musician route, where they stop putting music out but still stay involved by producing or featuring.
Also, I don't think "fizzling out" is the right description, but more like "settling". Folks needed time to figure out what they wanted out their women rappers, ya know? I noticed this when the Nikki & Megan "beef" was happening.

I dont think that her initial premise in doing music was not genuine. We saw her on LHH trynna do the music shit even when people were doubting it. I think she actually wanted to do music. I think maybe the people who was backing her up during her rise may not have been genuine, somewhere along the line for sure it wasn’t genuine..but her premise for sure was genuine in my opinion

As a fan of hip-hop for the past 20 to 25 years I’ve seen this happen to so many artists when you get that buzz keep feeding your fans make sure it’s quality music but make sure you release music every few months especially in this generation there’s always somebody up next to take your spot you can’t take years off unless you’re just that talented of an artist and Cardi B is not that talented
Cardi B is a karaoke performer she is not a rapper, she has spoken on numerous occasions that she is basically just in it for the money and to me that is basically her admitting to culturally appropriating black culture and has no interest in studying rap or respecting it as an artform and that's my problem with her and the black community why do we consistently support people that just rob our culture and don't and even like us. Even in terms of her album Invasion of Privacy the success of that album had nothing to do with her, but everything to do with the black men and women songwriters who crafted and wrote those songs that she gets recognition for.

It isn't a good song, yes the beat goes hard ofc it does its a Missy project but as for Cardi rapping on it - I could barely understand a word she was saying. The visuals aren't enough anymore ppl want more than she can give. Real talent never went away it just took a back seat and now she's back and Cardi isn't in that category 🙃
