My first car was a 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop, V8 265 that I bought in 1964 fir $876.00. I loved that car. Went into the USAF(have to, mandatory service, ARMY was not for me). Came back from basic training and my dad traded my car. It was really hard to take...but I was happy for him.
Solid car. I too like the tri fives. My first car was 55 chevy that I drove to high school in late sixtys. This build brings back fond memories. Best of luck preserving a slice of history.
My first car was a '55 Belair. Dad bought it new in 1956 ( he all ways waited for the new cars to come out then bought the previous year). I was born in '55 so I felt like it was supposed to be mine. I hope you're gonna paint it (original chevy colours) when it's done, there's enough "patina" cars runnin round.
Gotta love the 55s. I just pulled my 55 210 4dr wagon into my shop. My grandmother gave it to me 37 years ago when I was 16. First engine I ever built was for that car. You guys are awesome. Go American Iron.
My dream car was a 56 Chevy Bel Air 2 door convertible, Ihad the opportunity to get her few years ago. You have a beautiful ride, glad she still in the family
I agree with you, I think that the 55 is the best looking car of the tri5’s. I hope to find a 55 2door hardtop, which is my dream car. You have a solid car there and I am sure you will do a great job on it. Good luck.
I bought my 55 from my grandfather before he died which was a 210 and I loved wagons so I searched for a Nomad I could rebuild. I found one in 1976 and when I was in the service i sold the car to a guy who was going to restore it for his wife. I'm still looking for that car it had 17,000 orginal miles on it in 1977. I still hav my Nomad and still love the best year of them all, the 55.
Nice, but it's a 210 Sedan not a BelAir, but this is the best model to race as far as weight. I've had the 55's and a 56. looks like it's a good starting point
I'm friends with mickey mouse too! 🤣 Awesome you got your dads old car. My 55 will go to my youngest daughter. My 39 goes to my eldest daughter and Grandson. 😊
In 1990, At Carlsbad raceway, big block peanut port heads, drum brakes and A 2.56 posi 12 bolt. The car ran 13.37 at 103 mph. It could never hookup. It is sad, but my loss is your gain, cousin .
Wow! Great car with a similar history to two of the five '55's I have in my garage! Our family history is very similar to yours too with about 15 tri fives that have been owned or still own in our family. We are nearby in OC and ran 2 of my '55's at Carlsbad. I have some footage of it in my '55 historical gasser video. Glad to see you guys secured this one, will rebuild it and won't be letting go of this one! I found your channel in my feed. Also, let me know if you need a Bel Air Fender. I have a nice driver side B/A fender that I need to swap for a 210 fender. Take care and you have a new sub!
That’s awesome, appreciate the sub. We definitely would be interested in swapping fenders. Send us a message on Instagram or Facebook and we can work something out.
Just got my 56 2 dr wagon in dec 22 it’s October ready and already have the rockers and full floor pan . Then 350/ Th350 . Rearmed ulnae but has traction bars on springs so think is was somebody hot rod at so time . Fixing 68 years of stuff lol when I got it in Dec. had 2 doors w/ glass quarter glass sets back glass on hatch and badly wiper burned windshield, and hood . But if it bolted on or screw of it was gone so been buyin parts like crazy still need a drivers door it’s rusted bad ( Pacific Northwest car) but got the 2 doors opening and closing so . Time to cut out rockers and weld in new . The remove body mount bolts all except back to keep isnsquare just loosen . Hook chains around the front two body punt towers lift it 30 inch and slide new floor in and let it down the it starts lol install motor trans wire harness , ect. Ect. Ect. 😊
Quit roasting grandpa. These were 300 dollar cars back in the day, he didn’t have any money for fancy schmancy metalwork. All we had was Bondo. You got the car now because he loved it and did the best with what he had and held on to it while All the rest of them were being crushed and turned into new Toyotas.
I agree with you,a 55 chevy is the most beautiful car there is.
You can see how excited the master mechanic is to have this car. It’s mint ! Wow , amazing car guy!
The silver lining to not having the hood hinges is you won’t smack your head on the hood latch 50 times a day. I’ve got many bumps from mine lol.
Totally agree, the 55 was one of the best.
Another beautiful classic car plus the history on it.

That 55 is a killer project car. Looks like the body is in fantastic shape. I'm tuning in on this one
I agree, love the 55, best of the tri 5’s!

Don you watch all theses great videos too brother? Real nice car
My dream car was a 56 Chevy Bel Air 2 door convertible, Ihad the opportunity to get her few years ago. You have a beautiful ride, glad she still in the family
Very exciting! Its great to see the two cars side by side and getting back on the street, cant wait to see them both finished!
Looking forward to following this build.

Nice nice. The only thing I ever loved more than my 55 Chevy was my border collie.
Our dads are the same guy....my dad had a 55 and then a 62. The 62 was red as well. Good times

Great backstory.
Those are Ansen traction bars! Good stuff! 😎🏁

It’s definitely a Bel Air
@@ZHPGarage I agree with you. I believe its a belair just by looking at it. The vin tag would prove it though. A=150..B=210..C=belair

“Still a 10” great vanity plate
Awesome! I have 55 hardtop

“He’s just kidding with you. Nobody owns three television sets.”
If I lived on Cal I’d want the black plates. My favourite Tri-5 is the 57 then 55 but I really dislike the 56 due to the tail lights.
Wanna sell it? I'd love to build a gasser.
🤡
Awesome!

I would like to know what will the original colour was I do like that seat it’s a pity can’t get the backseat retrim to match
We think it was a two tone turquoise and white like many of them were back then

Just keep messing with classic rides don’t touch anything from after 1985
I agree!
Not all 55 chevies are belairs That was a 210 sedan Not a belair
It most definitely is a Belair.
