    Hi Brenda can I play "Crossroads" by Don mclean as a beginner ? what do you think ?.. and if you think it is feasible could you do a lesson on this beautiful song ?? thanks and take care now..

    • @BrendaEarleStokes
      @BrendaEarleStokes Рік тому

      You can play any songs you like - you just might not be able to play all of the details. For Crossroads, I don't see why not - the chords are pretty easy. Keep it simple to start!

    Thanks. I was stuck on a couple of bits (it sounds to me like Em rather than C7 though) and spent a hour making a one take recording: ua-cam.com/video/dgarXJ7NnXs/v-deo.htmlsi=GvGmqzHnxSZMNoyu

    Nice tutorial, nicely sung. Remind people, though, first of how TERRIBLY difficult it can be when a MAN sings a B flat. Sledge ruined his voice doing this number. Lastly, it wouldn't be so hard to follow the chords on the original record. The C7 you use is not in the original. In the key of C the chord after the a minor would be e minor with g in the bass.

      @BrendaEarleStokes Рік тому

      There is no reason why a man can't sing in the key of Bb. Men sing in that key all the time without any issue at all. Sledge didn't ruin his voice because of a song. Vocal issues can be caused by a number of conditions and there is no way to know why someone had a vocal issue unless you speak to their physician.

      @@BrendaEarleStokes Brenda, I'm a church singer and an honest to God musician. I didn't mean the KEY of Bb, I meant high Bb. You realize that Puccini's Nessun Dorma ends with a B natural and that's the test of any professional operatic tenor. The NOTE Bb is killer if you don't have training. Of course you're right, Percy Sledge COULD have any number of things that contribute to his vocal decline. But where there's smoke there's fire. Rock singers develop nodes and blow out their cords blasting out high notes. Even the lead singer of Spiral Starecase, Pat Upton, took his hit More Today than Yesterday down a step as he got into his 40s. I could go on and on. Anyway, you're a good player and I know it's a petty complaint about that chord, but someone might notice that C7 doesn't match the original. Other than that, your presentation is lovely. And you are too. Love those stripes! Keep up the good work.

    NOT bad baby 😉🍼! It is more easy to follow when chords and keynotes are NAMED by letters 🔤🍎 when played..... When letters light up this does help ALSO... Just don't rush it ALL ! Make it an easy pace to follow along!

      It's a video! You can pause and rewind as needed to suit your level. You can also watch it over and over again until you pick it up. Grab a notebook and jot the chords down as you go. You can do it!
