I would've felt with the over powering love of letting go that I had expressed myself. Only upstaged by Alanis' performance.

The lyrics are in no way about suicide, although self medicating could be looked at as a slow suicide since its self destructive. The specifics don't matter Alanis and everyone there understood it was appropriate.

Alanis debuting the song at the "Linkin Park and Friends: Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington" concert made sense since Chester did struggle with mental illness and died due to suicide.
