I agree with the designer that the UCS Millennium Falcon should never retire. I believe it's the quintessential Lego Star Wars set and probably the most justified purchase of Lego I've ever made with how close it comes to perfection

I don’t know why but it kind of hits hard knowing that some sets will never be on shelves ever again.
It happens to all of them, I suppose I never think of it that deeply anymore but maybe I always get distracted by what's new haha
It made me deeply sad when I went to target one day and they had no more 501st packs😢

Although they may not be on shelves you can go online and download the instructions and purchase the parts needed to assemble the set. Only downside is some sets have stickers, which you'd have to have made, and some sets have exclusive pieces you can't get unless somebody has taken it from their own set. When I was a kid I used to build the early 2000s sets from extra pieces in my huge lego collection, I built so many lego star wars sets, yeah some or the colors weren't right in a few places, but they were assembled and able to be played with and that's all that mattered when I was little. I always just imagined that somebody found it in the scrap yard and fixed it with pieces from different color ships, kinda a shitbox of a space ship if you will 🤣

Yeah it is my favorite set this year. It makes no sense.
Honestly, the answer is simple - it may be extremely popular in the fan circles you're a part of, but the ONLY reason a set retires is because its sales don't justify continuing it.
I think this is, in general, why a lot of us lego star wars fans are constantly surprised we don't see more prequel stuff. Just because we love it doesn't mean there's a market for it.
Which is also why they retire quickly. Prequel sets are all about the fan market, and a set doesn't need to be available that long for the majority of those people who want it to actually purchase it.
@@Alex-ks3uu it’s not selling well because it’s only at target, and as the video said, it’s only been on sale once. It’s the only Lego set in the past two years I ended up paying full price for( besides an AtAt, but that was for may the 4th promo).
@@Alex-ks3uu there’s totally a market for these clone wars styled sets but Lego keeps confining this sets to the Lego store especially these clone battle packs which causes set’s being out of stock all the time instead of having them at Walmart/ other retailers. Making sets exclusive to the Lego stores doesn’t help at all, actually makes more orders than Lego can actually do.

The ME Cantina is the set that got me back into Lego / Star Wars, for an older guy it was good value and the mini-figs are excellent. I purchased a display case locally (AU 🇦🇺) and also have room for a few smaller sets and mini figs. Cheers.
The cantina is awesome. I doubt we will see anything like it for another 10 years atleast. Sure we will get the smaller scale version of it however this set is probably one that every current lego star wars fan should aim to get.

I’m actually really sad the Republic Fight Tank is retiring. That is definitely going wayyyy tooo soon. The set came out last year, and it’s already retiring at the end of this year. The minifigures are insane! Especially the 187th clone troopers. I know some people hate the Republic Fighter Tank itself, but I actually really like it! I’m definitely going to be buying a bunch of them, although I can’t find them anywhere. They are never in stock.
I agrée it’s amazing amazing set minifigures wise and besides a large chunk of its time existing on shelves it wasnt even on the shelves because it was out of stock

On one hand, I'd love to get the Mos Eisley Cantina, but on the other, the new Rivendell set is looking very good. The hardest choices require the strongest wills.
(In my opinion) Get the Cantina now, or else you will have less of a chance of getting it later, and the Rivendell set is going to be out for a lot longer, so get that later
Got the same problem here.. I wanna get the cantina first as it it retiring but my wife wants Rivendell first.. As both franchises are regarded as a shared 1st place of my all time favorites, I'm definitely getting both but I just need to convince her the Cantina is more important at this moment🤣🤣

The AT-AT finally going is also a very sad one. It’ll truly be the end of an era when that goes.
This version of the AT-AT is fantastic and given that it released in 2020 and the previous one before that was 2014 I don't think we will see another one till possibly 2026 at that scale.

Don't worry, knowing Lego, we'll have a new X-wing and TIE really soon, and if we don't get a new TIE, it's probably because of the Interceptor and Bomber
Surprised the Mos Eisley cantina is going. One of the best sets Lego has ever produced and the one that drew me back into collecting Lego once again.

I'm so glad I got the Mandalorian brickheadz and the X-wing, but I'm not sure if I'm happy about the razor crest retiring. Although it will not appear in the original show anymore, but I still really love the design.
The Mos Eisley Cantina was pushed to retire in 2024 on the latest update. That could change again.
Jango Fett's Slave 1 would be the PERFECT prequel set, I would buy that up in a heartbeat. Or maybe even a larger Kamino set on par with something like Mos Eisley so that it would include Jango's apartment, young Boba, a landing pad for the Slave 1, maybe some other set dressing like a hallway, Kaminoan, some clones in training uniforms and perhaps even a second landing pad so that if you have Kenobi's Jedi Strarfighter you can store it there too. Would be a great display piece honestly
I can't believe they're retiring the Razor Crest. I thought it would be around for at least some years, but apparently not. I'm glad they're not retiring the Episode IX Millennium Falcon, I definitely wanna get that one

Mos Eisley Cantina is a top 5 Lego set of all time for me. The minifigures are some of the best I’ve ever seen and the build is big and aesthetically pleasing. It’s an expensive set that not everybody could afford to buy/hold. That’s a set that could hit over $1000 after retirement.

A bunch of sets have been added to the brickfanatics Feb. retirement list of 2023 including Trash Compactor and Justifier etc. That list is fairly accurate, but sure some might still be added or dropped as it's early in the year.

Thank god the Justifier will be gone, that is probably the only thing that is justified about this set

Even though I never planned on asking for it for christmas or a birthday, seeing the Mos Eisley Cantina go does hit hard as it is a set I have wanted since its reveal. It'll join the ranks of the Ewok Village and Betrayal at Cloud City of large sets I one day hope to own years after their retirement. On the other end of the coin, seeing both falcons remain on shelves without any figure changes annoys me to no end. They are the only 2 remaining sets on shelves that have figures from the sequel trilogy, and none of the figures, save for old Lando or Boolio, are figures that weren't hard to come by back when they were available, so anyone who wanted one would have gotten one. I'd be a lot more interested in either model if they had purely original trilogy figures, but I imagine one day they'll change them out or rerelease the sets without them...right?
Possibly. I think one of the designers did say that they always wanted to have the millenium falcon available and I'm guessing that's for both UCS and playscale. Perhaps we will see a redesign at some point to fit the original trilogy though.

It is heart wrenching to see the Mos Eisley cantina go. It feels like just yesterday it came out. I really am considering picking it up because of all the unique exclusive minifigs.

Just been getting back into Lego Star Wars of late and can't believe so many of these are going already. The Tie and X-Wing sets are big surprises so either they are bringing out new ones or just aren't happy with the feeback on those. I definitely have a few of these to still get before they are gone.

My theory for why the smaller millennium falcon isn’t retiring is because they need to have some sort of sequel sets in their lineup, and if they retire that set and release a new sequel set, it would flop hard
I don't think that's the case. I'm pretty sure the designers said they always wanted to have a millenium falcon available and I'm guessing that means both UCS and playscale.
Maybe that is why. I’m still waiting for a new one, no way I’ll buy one with characters I don’t care about. I’ll buy the new one when they release it, be it 2025 or 2030.

Lego always retires the good sets, it’s like they want us to leave so they can cancel Lego star was completely
LEGO retires ALL it's sets eventually. All sets are limited time and are replaced on the roster with another set when they are retired.
The UCS Falcon may be the only exception to this.

I've had the original 7163 Gunship, since I was a kid. Personally, I was very excited that they released it as a UCS set, I've wanted a UCS set of it for years.
Now, I have 2 and thinking about a 3rd one before it retires... too many probably but I don't care lol

Interestingly enough, I'd be thrilled with a Rix Road (Ferrix) Scene, however long it would take me to build. Andor provided lots of opportunities like The Narkina Prison, ISB HQ, and Morlana 1. I haven't seen yet if they have Luthen's ship, but betting its on its way! Why they are getting rid of the Razor Crest, I dunno, but the Naboo Starwing will likely get sales.
Some stores in Germany currently are selling the 75290 Cantina for just below 360.- euros. I just had bought one for myself, and thought "ah, what the heck, buy another one!". Can't hurt. 😅
The 75323 Justifier was available over here for weeks for 99.90. Which was a bargain for the minifigs alone, plus 1K pieces for MOCs! But, yep, hardly anyone buys it.
although super controversial, i love the UCS republic gunship. i really want to pick that up before its retirement. the mos eisley cantina is also a must have though. rip fighter tank

Fully agree with the dark trooper. Im glad they said no to c3po (would not be against a bust version but not as part of the helmets set...cause ya know...helmets), so was disappointed when they did a darktrooper head.
Got it to have the whole collection. But only one I haven't built.
I build the dark trooper helmet recently. To many parts that could potentially rotate. Keeping it lined up properly is annoying when moving
I kept going to Wal Mart to see if any sets were on clearance and found the Tie Fighters for $25. So I picked up all but one 😂

As Long as we have the UCS Falcon in play, the less UCS sets we will have released. It keeps production lines tied up with it and it's had a long enough run to where I'd love to see the production and financial allocation be used to introduce another massive UCS set.

As a Reseller: there could never be a set thats "gone too soon". If i would be world leader (and lego reseller), every Set would be EOL after 1 month after release.
I have a couple of Boba’s Throne I got at Costco for pretty cheap. I recently saw a really good MOC with a proper roof and other neat add-ons and I’m going to be building it pretty soon. I actually like it as much as Jabba’s Palace when it comes to the structure. Of course, Jabba’s Palace still wins with the minifig selection. What is disheartening is the unpopularity likely means no Rancor pit. But if that’s the case I just have another project, which is fine.
I just wish the UCS Falcon used more of its space for an interior.
Finally saw and purchased the fighter tank for the first time last week at a smaller brick store near me. Amazing that it was out for almost a year without me ever seeing it on shelves, and I visit the LEGO store at Mall of America a few times every year!
I love how Lego is out of stock on Star destroyers from October 2021 till December 2022 such a great idea I legit couldn’t even get it for a year after saving up for it

Hey just an FYI the Trooper is based on the original and they Cyborgs not robots. Retired clone troopers were converted to Dark Troopers.
I been wanting a mando starfighter but they just want too much for it. Same for the Justifier perhaps I might find one on sale etc.

I managed to pick up the downsized TIE fighter a few minutes back for $22 at my local Walmart. It was on clearance so that they could get the new 2023 sets just because our legal section is so small
Iv spent like 15-20 hours improving that razer crest and I have to say the thing looks almost as good as the usc one now. And. I got all the parts from the collection

Man lots I still want to get, it's difficult when you got to budget.. not only that but other themes you like getting that has retiring sets.
If my stupid Walmart didn't put all the good stuff behind glass, I'd definitely pick up a few here and there from there, but the fact you got to wait around for someone to come, then go to the customer service counter etc, it's a pain, only did it once and don't want to do it again. But there is another store that I can get lego but just not as accessible or I don't go there much.
Honestly... I just don't see the Justifier being worth the price tag. Yes, it's huge and has cool minifigures, but the stickers on the front, the lack of a real interior, and the price tag really just turned me off completely. I grabbed the AT-AT though. That's a set that will always have a place on my shelf alongside the AT-TE and if we ever get another AT-PT, I will be ecstatic. Lego walkers will always get my attention.
