There does need to be a Sly 5, especially with that cliffhanger ending. That's kind of one very big loose end that needs to be addressed. I haven't played Thieves in Time, so I really can't give an opinion on it, but I certainly loved the entire series, and can't wait for the movie coming out.

Sly 1 was just too annoying with the horseshoe life system and such straight forward levels. Granted Sly 1 did have the best story of all the games and the best villains. Clockwerk is a badass. Sly 2 much like Ratchet and Clank 2 and Jak II made a lot of improvements to the overall game and utilized Bentley and Murray better. The level designs were very good and the player became acquainted with each boss and was given motivation to want to beat them as they escaped the first level. Sly 3 introduced too many characters and didn't have very interesting villains, The level designs were good but no anywhere near as good as its predecessor. In my opinion, this was the worst Sly game. Don't get me wrong - I really like this game cause it's Sly Cooper! However, I found this game way too easy. Every mission was done in like 3 minutes in one or two tries. The guard AI was sloppy. The bosses weren't very well thought out, and the names of them were very "obvious" (Decibel is a unit for sound, and of course, Ms. Decibel was a musical boss). The humor was too try-hard. The characters were out of place at some points. The plans Bentley made weren't as great as the other games. I really enjoy this game, but it'd definitely be better if Sucker Punch had made it! :D
Enan Alonso The previous games weren't that difficult, but there were some levels that I really thought were difficult! This game... well there isn't really a challenge. I was able to beat this one pretty easily. The guards aren't the same. In Sly 2, hitting a guard would attract others from all over. In this game however, once I was fighting a guard and there was literally another flashlight guard just like 20 feet away, and he didn't even notice the fight going on. Actually, this has happened almost every time I fight a guard. It's not a bad game, just could be better :)

Hey ant, just wanted to say congratulations for 5 years on UA-cam (according to Sonikdude101). I've been a fan since the days of Megaman 9 and haven't given up on ya yet. Hope to see more awesome videos in the future.
Sorry but the soundtrack for Sly 2 trumps this one hands down. I honestly can't say I remember a single song from Thieves in Time, yet the soundtrack for Sly 2 is forever burned into my brain.
My reasons are: 1. they should had someone else be the Black Knight and have it where he Kidnapped Penelope. and 2. if you have a control scheme you implemented in a few games for the PS3 then DON'T put it in a game and expect people to be able to use it properly
I liked Penelope as the Black Knight. It gave her character depth and made you care for her because her motives weren't, "I'm a bad guy," she actually had motives. In my opinion she was one of the best parts of the game. I really hope that in a new game (if it happens) she befriends Clockwerk to take down Sly. It would also be awesome if she killed Carmelita at the end so that complicated relationship is ended and you hate her more. I think that's a little too dark for a kid's game, though.
TheCubingDiscMaster314 waaaat? It didn't give her depth, it derailed her character completely! She was never given a concrete reason as to what she was trying to do. Also, she had a time machine! What could Nefarious do with a time machine and she couldn't do herself? Sanzaru just turned her "evil" for no reason and honestly created a character that was nothing like Penelope. bleh :/
As someone who never played any of these games,I would like to say thank you for not forgetting to take in consideration of new players to the franchise. Keep up the good work.
I absolutely LOVED the gameplay for Tennessee Kid Cooper. I would seriously, no joke, play an entire game about him. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaseeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! Also, I guessed the mid-way plot twist you are talking about. It was too obvious.
Good to see an unbiased review of Sly 4. Also good to see a 3D platformer handled by a different company whom doesn't end up ruining it in the process! I've already pre-ordered this game at EBGames, so I'll definitely pick it up when I get the chance!
Now this seems very strange to me, atleast. How come yo don't have more views? What you do here is so proffesionally done and you'r voice are basically made for these kinds of reviews/radio etc. What I am trying to say is that you, my friend, are doing an amazing job with these reviews! I esspecially liked this video, due to the fact that I a big fan to the Sly franchise! That's all!
Honestly, the plot twist just felt wrong. I mean, I would accepted it if this was made by the original developers. I would have excepted it if it was a new character created by the new developers. But having them take an already established character and just change them with little justification, it just feels wrong.
I actually don't really see this as being the end of the "Sly Cooper" series, considering that the secret ending that somewhat gave an idea of where Sly is feels completely like a cliff hanger. Or maybe it was just a way for fans to continue making more conspiracy theories, but I'm gonna go with the former. Great reviews, nonetheless.
I think Sanzaru was trying to set up the plot for a sequel but never got the green light because of the negative fan reception nor will they ever get the green light since they got bought out.
This game just felt off for me. I was such a big fan of the past three games and was expecting a lot out of this one and it was just kind of disappointing. I got it first day it came out and played the shit out of it, and realized how different it was than the other three games. It's a lot more childish, with a bunch of forced in jokes that kind of took away from the gameplay. Then there were the horrendous missions where Murray had to dressed up as Madame Geisha (don't even get me started on that crap) and some of the missions just felt very repetitive and annoying at times. Overall, it has been the worst game of the series so far (and I LOVE the first three games.) I think the transition of sucker punch to sanzaru really screwed this game over. I'm sure sucker punch could have done a MUCH better job.
+jordan windsor Eh... For me, the beauty of the first three Sly games was that it was a cartoon that played itself seriously, but never too seriously. +TacomanTPM I'd agree. I just couldn't get into it. I'd add that the controls feel off. Sly didn't feel agile anymore.
I agree with the review for the most part. For me the hacking games were tedious and got repetitive towards the end but to be honest I wasn't very good at them. The use of sixaxis controls wasn't so bad. I'd say it's better implemented compared to other games that try to use it.
hope we do get another game that goes off that cliffhanger(also undoes that twist as it was just dumb.) as it's a bit of a downer if it was the end as this series(alongside playstation's other classics.:3) deserves to continue like with crash.
I'm glad that you mentioned Carmelita's design change. I was very torn seeing her in a mini skirt, since I really loved her pants/boots combo in the trilogy. Great video regardless!
I really enjoyed the game. People say that the game was forced but if they attempted to be edgey and different people would be in an uproar. As a fan it was exactly what I would want even if it didn't break any ground and had a different team. I just like how it actually had people who care about the series instead of churning out anything. My only problems are that the loading screens are randomly long, the final boss compared to the rest was a major letdown with the generic quicktime event not to mention it felt like Paris could have been a final area but it skipped that idea completely. You could say the other team members should have been given more screen time but then I wouldn't force anything unnecessary.
this game is just gold I only played the first game and then this one and they both are just exactly what a videogame should be! many other games can learn something from this series I need to get the trio for the ps3
I'm sure the skirts for etter agility, there are such things as armored skirts, usually scalemail or kevlar, and even some maidens also trained as soldiers wore armored skirts, so they could defend themselves and kingdoms from attack if need be. But I agree with you, they probably just matured her up, despite her seeming more agile now.
Sanzaru should have recognized that the average age of sly fans has increased. I was 7 when Sly 1 came out, now I am 18. Consequently, they should have thought about making the game a bit more difficult. It was a good game, but I was expecting more because it was on a newer system. For example, I don't know why the split-screen modes from sly 3 were left out. I liked those. Thieves in time made the game too easy with the regenerating special move bar, and enemies on radar (I always disabled it). And I felt like the underpriced unlockables just made things much easier in an already easy game. It was way too easy to get tons of coins, and the upgrades should have been more expensive to increase difficulty. The purchasable ones were useful, but they were extremely easy to buy. The clue bottle locater made things too easy as well. The silent sprint was overpowered too. Sly masks didn't give me a satisfying unlockable either. I also don't know why this game has 3 less episodes than Sly 2, and 32 less jobs. I know the jobs in thieves in time are individually longer, but you need a larger number to increase variety. Especially considering that this game is on a newer system. Sly 2 had great variety because it had a more episodes with open worlds. That made the game so much more interesting and gripping. Thieves in time also had some unfortunate boss battles (the wild west, and final one). Some boss's are good enough to have 2 episodes dedicated to themselves. I think El Jefe and possibly the Grizz could have had 2. Grizz deserved a better episode than the prehistoric one that had the most boring ancestor. The only good thing about that ancestor and episode was the training montage that reminded me of the lumberjack games in sly 2. I did enjoy thieves in time, but I was expecting more. I also felt like there was not enough up-front combat overall with sly. Stealth is good, but you need a happy combination of the two.
Well, there's a cliffhanger if you watch the credits when you platnium the game. I platinumed it and it was WORTH IT... but if they do actually call it "Thieves in Time 2" which I doubt, I'll have to blow my brains out.
My only problem is that the final boss is a quick time event. Just why, there was no other quick time event in the entire series, if you don't count the dance scenes.
I think its horrible that nobody is talking about the 2016 Sly Cooper movie i think this proved that Ratchet and Clank was his main opponent in the early 2000s platformer "war"
Well, there have been rumors of a fifth installment of the series. Also, just by looking at the end of the game, they kind of have to, because they kind of left us at a point where it would make perfect sense.
or if you showed up and Clockwork was doing more than just hanging out. imagine you show up and have to deal with clockwork before you can do anything else. or that it upgraded the unfinished sections of sly 3, like sailing and sent us to the pirate ancestor. now that would be more fun than what we got.
that song of dimitri from let's dance, really let me think about the missions in dimitri's world which are my very best game expirience ever, and it gives me a really good feeling inside
I was too, but really, it's kinda nice that they didn't resort to falling back on a previous boss (at least this soon). The next game should have him as an important figure though.
I liked all the boss fights in Thieves In Time, except for the last one. Sadly it was just a series of quick time events, not a test of all the skills you had gained up to that point, like Sly 3's final Boss fight. Also, so much attention was given to each hub world, making them big and full of things to collect, that the jobs preparing for the big heist didn't feel as nuanced as in the previous 2 games. I also miss the old Power Up system that was very Zelda-esque. I miss having Combat Dodge, Feral Pounce, and Shadow Power. Carmelita doesn't get the Mega Jump until the very end of the game and she was nerfed considerably, whereas in Sly 3 she was so powerful, I also don't like her redesign A Mini Skirt doesn't scream "tough cop lady" to me. Bentley's Hover Pack isn't a triple jump anymore but instead a short distance hover. Murray feels too sluggish. Overall, I think all the characters were faster and snappier in Sly 3. Also, Thieves in Time played it a little too close to Sly 2's formula. Collecting Clue bottles and stealing Loot was a great activity in each hub world, and it made you feel like a thief, but I enjoyed that exploration was its own reward in Sly 3.
Mission 1 = Get the costume Mission 2 = Break out Sir Galleth Mission 3 = Get Sir Galleth's cane back Mission 4 = Destroy blimps Mission 5 = Mechanical menace Mission 6 = Murray, Sly and Sir Galleth mission Mission 7 = Bentley mission Mission 8 = Sir Galleth collecting fire bulbs and Sly competing in the archery mini game Mission 9 = Boss battle
I couldn't give a review with as much justice as you did. You hit nearly all points that I have with the game. With my opinion that you wont respond to, I had critic related problems with the game in nearly all aspects. Biggest being the story, the bosses, and continuity. I'd have to but this one on the shelf under 2 and 3 (and maybe 1) in my opinion. Great review, I'm gonna watch it again.
I figured the lack of Dimitri talking would have sadden you greatly. I'm kinda surprised you didn't briefly go over the boss characters like you did in the last three games. Then again since one of the bosses is linked to that big twist you revealed, it's probably for the best. Speaking of said twist, without spoiling it, what did you think of it?
I know I'm about five years late but I grew up with sly, mainly the second and third one and never finished either game until later on which was basically what happened to every game I played at a young age but Sly was something special, I've replayed all but the first a million times, all though not fully, especially the third game. But i also played it with my dad who was also in love with the games. I ended up getting sly 4 on both Vita and ps3 and played both versions fully and possibly replayed it fully about three times and I absolutely love the game. While all the original worlds in the other two games were unique and such, As a kid, they were fun at first but then sorta felt long and I forgot most of what happened in them. I remember being afraid of Murray after the spider lady. And I always preferred Sly because he's sneaky and agile and I always preferred to play that way. I know I personally loved the fourth game because it felt so different, the artstyle, the game style, most of the gameplay. I loved the little twist in one of my favorite worlds. The medieval themed one and the Wild West were my favorites because it felt more inviting to me and different compared to the previous games. I should stop where I am before I get too deep 😅
I've given this game 2 chances and dropped it on both. I hate how slowly responsive the controls are. Ruins the experience for me. Could also be the frame rate, which seems awfully slow..
Great review! I particularly like how you recognise this is a game for the fans, and in that merit it succeeds. Not to mention I think to change things up after 6 or so years with a new developer would be far too dangerous. We don't want a completely evolved game after 6 years, we want the sly we remember, so in that aspect I'm glad they focused on. Living in Australia, it releases tomorrow and I will be getting it then and I'm very excited for it.
I hat the hacking mini games. Like every time you play as Bentley you have to do a 10 minute hacking mini game. You want my advice stick to sly HD collection
Now that more than 3 years have passed since this video review, I wanna ask a question: Do you still think that a Sly Cooper 5 game "isn't necessary"? Because I surely think it is, besides, I always wanted a Sly episode set in Egypt ( and no, the Sly 2 introduction doesn't count as an "Episode" ).
the ancestors feel useless outside of their missions. sly is different in this game in terms of personality (the first 3 games showed sly as a level headed smartass while this game turns him into a joker). this last one is just an opinion of mine, I feel that they missed out on a golden opportunity for sly to grow as a character. they could have sent him back to just before his parents were killed, in the end of the level he has to leave just before the fiendish 5 came in to kill his parents.
as a Sly fan who put 300 hours into Sly 3 and completed Sly 2 about 8 different times; i can say Sly Cooper thieves in Time was a huge disappointment to me and i blame myself to an extent. My first reasoning can be pretty opinionated, but i kinda felt like there should have been more levels where we could have met Slytaunkhamen Cooper, Otto Van Cooper, Henriette Cooper, and Saligh MacCooper. Still i understand that the game was fixated to run on the PlayStation Vita as well proably made production difficult. that does not hide the fact that Sanzaru are sinister considering they left off this long awaited game on a cliff hanger where Sly is lost in Time and Sanzaru decides to abandon the series. it's a shame that my all time favorite game series had to end with an unsolvable cliff hanger NOTE: i do not hate Thieves in Time whatsoever, i just dislike the fact the game did not live up to my hype and how the game ended. the story is solid, Sly's ancestors are lively in the game, and the collectibles reminded me of the classic Sly 1 challenge
I have to say that Sly Cooper looks really fun, like Ratchet and Clank, but Jak and Daxter, especially Jak 2 are just so god damn frustrating that people are about to throw the damn controller at the TV and yell: ''FUCK THIS GAME!'' I've played Sly 2 and Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time demos and honestlly, I would be happy to get the HD Collection for Sly Cooper and Thieves in Time! :) I hope someday in the future, I will have the chance to get those games and play them! :D
i loved this game, i'm not a fan of rioji's look in this game, i was expecting him to have a bit of a slim or even covered face since he was suppose to be like a ninja
Was this game ever patched? I'm installing a bunch of ps3 games that i never got any time to play before and downloading the patches before the servers go down, but this game didn't patch or update or anything, just went straight into the game
I have some problems with it, like when all guards are so accepting when you wear a costume. They could atleast have made the heavy guards ask for a code to make it a challenge. And then the cutscenes, I hate the artstyle of them. The older Sly games had such beautiful and artistic cutscenes. But other than that it is only the voice acting of Murray (Swedish) that I have a problem with.
all he did was hack, that's all he did! Carmelita is a floozy and everyone but Sly was useless (not like you really used them). I'm a HUGE fan of the series BTW.
I am also a huge fan of the series. And I wasn't talking about how you barely use the other characters, which is true, but I thought that when you drop your bombs with bentley and walk around with him in the 4th game, it just feels really smooth and funner to play unlike the other 3 games.
I guess you are right and that extra stuff was just me not wanting to post a comment twice, I am lazy. P.S. you actually influenced the opinion of someone on the internet platinum trophy for you.
man i remember i would remember watching my dad play this when i was little. like i was so young that i would force my to dad play them lol. it was really fun my dad loved playing these kinda games though so that's good.
Maybe someone has said this already but far as Sly Cooper lore goes there has only been one confirmed female ancestor still they added a new one for this game so that dosn't have to stop them.
Controls of this game felt a little floaty to me. They were a lot better in the previous games. Also the hub worlds felt really static. The game was just ok but nowhere near the level of the previous titles
Hey AntDude92, Here's a bonus u should try. Try and finish the game 100% and then go to cinematics and their will be an extra cinematic that gives u hint of where Sly might go next. You up to the challenge?
Sanzaru Games were idiots to not continue with the Sly Cooper license. They did a near-perfect job with Thieves in Time, and they miss up on a great opportunity to become one of Sony's AAA developers. And look at them now, developing bullshit like Sonic Boom. EW.
I played all 4 and they are fun but 1-3 was the HD version and if they will make a thieves in time 2 maybe they should put sly father well this my opinion.
I thought pretty much everything about this game was great except for one core thing: Sly's character. In the previous games Sly was so fucking smooth, confident, funny, and he always knew just what to say. This was what made Sly so awesome. In this game however, Sly's jokes suck and he is no longer confident and just lets Carmelita walk all over him. Sly and Carmelita were always trying to one up each other with Sly pretty much always winning and being so god damn smooth but now he always loses and dust doesn't know what to say.
The environments in this game look amazing, they really do.
Old vid, but no one saying anything about the "final boss fight" that was the worst boss fight i have ever played in my entire life.
You didn't mention the other little fan service of Clockwork being hidden in each of the over worlds.
There does need to be a Sly 5, especially with that cliffhanger ending. That's kind of one very big loose end that needs to be addressed. I haven't played Thieves in Time, so I really can't give an opinion on it, but I certainly loved the entire series, and can't wait for the movie coming out.

Mumsy sly 4 wasn't that bad. all it needs is less unnecessary QTEs (the old press O to continue the cutscene scenario) and better loading times.
***** and better story, better character development and better writing. there's also the fact that penelope turned evil for no good reason other then another bossfight. yes it was that bad to someone who has followed these characters through 3 games and then hear them talk like a bunch of retarded kids in a reboot, other then that sanzaru is not a good developer (they made sonic boom, which just makes it more sad that sony have this little care for the franchise.

No where did I say Sly 2 was the first game in the series numbskull.
+Dillon Haggett still general Tso from sly 3 is a great villan just because he has no redeeming qualities which just makes you really want to stick it to him, but other than him the rest of sly 3s villans are pretty bland in comparison to the rest of the series now that I think about it

For that "cool twist" if you mean a character from the last game that changes her views that's ducking dumb and not cool in the slightest
I agree with you but don't forget she used to be an enemy before (Black Baron) and she didn't had problems with cheating and she was a twat to her guards.
She wasn't evil though
Neko9000 She's not evil, she's more of an anti-heroine. But I know what you mean.
That would imply that she didn't side with an evil faction
Neko9000 Well, she didn't. She wanted to use Cyrille. And in Sly 5 they are probably going to give her some more character development.
In my opinion, this was the worst Sly game. Don't get me wrong - I really like this game cause it's Sly Cooper! However, I found this game way too easy. Too easy? Maybe you don't remember, but the Sly series has never been difficult, and the guards behave the same as they did in past games.
Enan Alonso The previous games weren't that difficult, but there were some levels that I really thought were difficult! This game... well there isn't really a challenge. I was able to beat this one pretty easily. The guards aren't the same. In Sly 2, hitting a guard would attract others from all over. Sly Series is in desperate need of ports to new generations, it’s locked on the ps3 & vita (and no, cloud versions dont count)… like just port the trilogy + Thieves in Time (+ Bentley’s Hackpack, for preservation purposes) as a one single release… the Sly Cooper Master Thief collection
I highly agree! Sly 2 had an incredible soundtrack, my favorite out of all four for sure!
Do not. Just don't. It is to this day one of my favorite games of all time.
Cuz sly 2 is da best
I liked 3's soundtrack the best!
Teenage Jesus Oh shit. reading this comment made the Paris theme pop in my head and give me chills.
the two things didn't like about this game were: 1. Penelope being the Black knight, and 2. THE STUPID ADDITION OF THE SIXAXIS CONTROL.
Sanzaru just turned her "evil" for no reason and honestly created a character that was nothing like Penelope.
bleh :/
Pokelucelop Nefarious? Isn't that Ratchet and Clank?
TheCubingDiscMaster314 LOL whoops, yeah i meant Le Paradox.....goes to show how memorable of a villian that guy was... >_>
As someone who never played any of these games,I would like to say thank you for not forgetting to take in consideration of new players to the franchise. Keep up the good work.
There were NOT 10-15 missions per episode. There were about 7-8. Pretty big difference. But I love the review. This game was magic to me.
i wish theirs a 5th sly game but to quote Bentley time will tell literally cause i'm building a time machine to find out
i rate this video: GREASY SWEET!!!
Omg. I thought I was the only one who wanted a game centered on Tennessee Kid. He's my favorite ancestor ^.^
That's all!
Game isn't bad but I certainly missed the Sucker Punch touch here.
1-Sly 2
2-Sly 4
3-Sly 3
4-Sly 1
My list:
1.Sly 3
2.Sly 4
3.Sly 2
4.Sly 1
Me three
THAT1JOHN • sly 2 is better than sly 3
Horrible
10:14 - You equally can't trust the opinion of fanboy's who are obsessed with the long dead mascot platform genre either.
Yeah I was so upset when I found out it wasn't sucker Punch making this one
This franchise has always been childish in a way, Sly 4 just knows what it is and has fun with it.
+PsychadelicoDuck that's pretty spot on
TacomanTPM I am one of the biggest Sly fans and I absolutely love it
I agree with the review for the most part. For me the hacking games were tedious and got repetitive towards the end but to be honest I wasn't very good at them. The use of sixaxis controls wasn't so bad. I'd say it's better implemented compared to other games that try to use it.
I will never forget Murray as a Geisha in Feudal Japan... no matter how much I want to.
hope we do get another game that goes off that cliffhanger(also undoes that twist as it was just dumb.) as it's a bit of a downer if it was the end as this series(alongside playstation's other classics.:3) deserves to continue like with crash.
Also, the SIXAXIS controlles missions sucked hard.
this game is just gold I only played the first game and then this one and they both are just exactly what a videogame should be! many other games can learn something from this series
I need to get the trio for the ps3
I'm sure the skirts for etter agility, there are such things as armored skirts, usually scalemail or kevlar, and even some maidens also trained as soldiers wore armored skirts, so they could defend themselves and kingdoms from attack if need be. But I agree with you, they probably just matured her up, despite her seeming more agile now.
they talk about her in the 3rd game, Henriette "One Eye" Cooper is mentioned while sly explores the cooper vault.
Chapter 3 was my favourite!! That Murray training montage was classic.
I hope they do make a Thieves in Time 2. I wanna see Sly's other ancestors.
Leave it to Grey DeLisle-Griffin to provide excellent voice acting.
Well, there have been rumors of a fifth installment of the series. Also, just by looking at the end of the game, they kind of have to, because they kind of left us at a point where it would make perfect sense.
Nice review. So now that you've done the Sly games what do you plan to do next, or is that a surprise?
you forgot to mention that if you get all the achievments you get a secret ending
i agree on chapter 3 being the weakest, what would've been better if chapter 3's ancestor was substituted with a different one.
or if you showed up and Clockwork was doing more than just hanging out.
imagine you show up and have to deal with clockwork before you can do anything else.
or that it upgraded the unfinished sections of sly 3, like sailing and sent us to the pirate ancestor.
now that would be more fun than what we got.
that song of dimitri from let's dance, really let me think about the missions in dimitri's world which are my very best game expirience ever, and it gives me a really good feeling inside
Um what was that cutscene that you showed in the intro at the very begining of the video where sly ties carmelita up I don't remember that cutscene
Mission 1 = Get the costume
Mission 2 = Break out Sir Galleth
Mission 3 = Get Sir Galleth's cane back
Mission 4 = Destroy blimps
Mission 5 = Mechanical menace
Mission 6 = Murray, Sly and Sir Galleth mission
Mission 7 = Bentley mission
Mission 8 = Sir Galleth collecting fire bulbs and Sly competing in the archery mini game
Mission 9 = Boss battle
I couldn't give a review with as much justice as you did. You hit nearly all points that I have with the game.
With my opinion that you wont respond to, I had critic related problems with the game in nearly all aspects. Biggest being the story, the bosses, and continuity.
I'd have to but this one on the shelf under 2 and 3 (and maybe 1) in my opinion.
Great review, I'm gonna watch it again.
Maybe with the Sly Cooper movie coming out, Sucker Punch will retcon the series on the PS4 like Insomniac did with Ratchet & Clank.
Retcon? I think reboot would be a better term.
Insomniac never left. They worked on the PS3 titles.
They seem to be a smaller group than Insomniac though; Imnsomniac have made multiple games in the last ten years, like one every year, and SP just 3.
Doesn’t Sanzaru own the Sly Cooper IP?
Sly 4 was the first one i played, man did I miss out in the originals at the time. Trilogy was really amazing
I love how overwhelmingly specific you are about certain facts in the game. Non sarcastic wink…
Great review though.
I figured the lack of Dimitri talking would have sadden you greatly.
I'm kinda surprised you didn't briefly go over the boss characters like you did in the last three games. Then again since one of the bosses is linked to that big twist you revealed, it's probably for the best.
Speaking of said twist, without spoiling it, what did you think of it?
now we have to wait another 7 years for sly 5
I know I'm about five years late but I grew up with sly, mainly the second and third one and never finished either game until later on which was basically what happened to every game I played at a young age but Sly was something special, I've replayed all but the first a million times, all though not fully, especially the third game.
But i also played it with my dad who was also in love with the games.
I ended up getting sly 4 on both Vita and ps3 and played both versions fully and possibly replayed it fully about three times and I absolutely love the game.
While all the original worlds in the other two games were unique and such,
As a kid, they were fun at first but then sorta felt long and I forgot most of what happened in them.
Hm. Wanna try again, five years later?
I've wanted to get this since the anouncement trailer, but us UK guys have to wait till the end of the month before we can play it.
I hat the hacking mini games. Like every time you play as Bentley you have to do a 10 minute hacking mini game. You want my advice stick to sly HD collection
Wish I did...
i highly recommend getting the collection, it is definitely worth it :D. you're gonna love honor among thieves.
Now that more than 3 years have passed since this video review, I wanna ask a question:
Do you still think that a Sly Cooper 5 game "isn't necessary"? Because I surely think it is, besides, I always wanted a Sly episode set in Egypt ( and no, the Sly 2 introduction doesn't count as an "Episode" ).
I'm buying this.
How were they un-faithful? I'd love to know.
The worst part is load screens. I ignored this, and when the game started I was ready to play the game as Silver the Hedgehog...
i think she's latina since her full name is Carmelita Montoya fox, which i think Montoya is a spanish word and after looking it up on wikipedia, it is
the ancestors feel useless outside of their missions. sly is different in this game in terms of personality (the first 3 games showed sly as a level headed smartass while this game turns him into a joker). this last one is just an opinion of mine, I feel that they missed out on a golden opportunity for sly to grow as a character. they could have sent him back to just before his parents were killed, in the end of the level he has to leave just before the fiendish 5 came in to kill his parents.
as a Sly fan who put 300 hours into Sly 3 and completed Sly 2 about 8 different times; i can say Sly Cooper thieves in Time was a huge disappointment to me and i blame myself to an extent. My first reasoning can be pretty opinionated, but i kinda felt like there should have been more levels where we could have met Slytaunkhamen Cooper, Otto Van Cooper, Henriette Cooper, and Saligh MacCooper. Still i understand that the game was fixated to run on the PlayStation Vita as well proably made production difficult. that does not hide the fact that Sanzaru are sinister considering they left off this long awaited game on a cliff hanger where Sly is lost in Time and Sanzaru decides to abandon the series. it's a shame that my all time favorite game series had to end with an unsolvable cliff hanger
NOTE: i do not hate Thieves in Time whatsoever, i just dislike the fact the game did not live up to my hype and how the game ended. the story is solid, Sly's ancestors are lively in the game, and the collectibles reminded me of the classic Sly 1 challenge
I hope someday in the future, I will have the chance to get those games and play them! :D
i loved this game, i'm not a fan of rioji's look in this game, i was expecting him to have a bit of a slim or even covered face since he was suppose to be like a ninja
Was this game ever patched? I'm installing a bunch of ps3 games that i never got any time to play before and downloading the patches before the servers go down, but this game didn't patch or update or anything, just went straight into the game
You can replay jobs but they are exclusive to that character. The ancestors are only playable in their own chapters.
Could you do some more Sly Cooper on the channel.
If anything i was disappointed we didn't get to see his female pirate ancestor or his Egyption ancestor
What's the end card music though?
Dimitri's theme.
Hey Dude, can you tell me a list of the Sly games in order from least to greatest?
I have some problems with it, like when all guards are so accepting when you wear a costume. They could atleast have made the heavy guards ask for a code to make it a challenge. And then the cutscenes, I hate the artstyle of them. The older Sly games had such beautiful and artistic cutscenes. But other than that it is only the voice acting of Murray (Swedish) that I have a problem with.
a wise review, sadly for the cliffhanger... if only there was like a comic or similart to finish of Sly 4 story in any way.
I love the gameplay of Bentley in this one...
all he did was hack, that's all he did!
If you liked Sly, play its predecessor, Rocket Robot on Wheels!
There is 9 if you go on the replay job menu there are 9 jobs and you forgot to mention the 8th job which is the archery mini game.
this is my first sly cooper game and its pretty good
and I got it for about five dollars
man i remember i would remember watching my dad play this when i was little. like i was so young that i would force my to dad play them lol. it was really fun my dad loved playing these kinda games though so that's good.
I agree sly 2 is also my favorite of the four and sly three is my least favorite
Great review. Looks like I need to check this game out. And will you review the Ratchet games in the future?
Maybe someone has said this already but far as Sly Cooper lore goes there has only been one confirmed female ancestor still they added a new one for this game so that dosn't have to stop them.
This one's my favorite out of all the Sly Cooper games, I don't know why the majority of people didn't like it much...
Blazeh a great many reasons
@@RegretfulDeadMan Sup?
Controls of this game felt a little floaty to me. They were a lot better in the previous games. Also the hub worlds felt really static. The game was just ok but nowhere near the level of the previous titles
Penelope being a traitor is cool to you? How? The plot twist ruined her!
***** Yeah but still.
While I agree that the plot twist ruined her but I respect his opinion.
Hey AntDude92, Here's a bonus u should try. Try and finish the game 100% and then go to cinematics and their will be an extra cinematic that gives u hint of where Sly might go next. You up to the challenge?
i like sir galath cooper hes awesome and his lance looks sick
I honestly wouldn't mind Carmelita's change if they didn't overdo it
The game is not bad but I wish the levels had more then just the guards roaming the streets, the game should of had civilians roam around too
Sanzaru Games were idiots to not continue with the Sly Cooper license. They did a near-perfect job with Thieves in Time, and they miss up on a great opportunity to become one of Sony's AAA developers. And look at them now, developing bullshit like Sonic Boom. EW.
considering that seemingly every sly cooper hates this game with a burning passion,i doubt that will have worked out for them
wait.... I loved this game! It continues the cooper legacy and style near PERFECTLY.
Avinash Subramanian
"Fans" are never satisfied unless it's 100% original not 80%, 95% or even 98%
:(
as much as I hate this game, the fact that they ended this game with a bullshit cliffhanger and not plan a sequel whatsoever is fucking shameful
