Utah fan here, I’m excited for this new venture into the Big 12. I want to learn all about the traditions and rivalries.
The PAC 12 was a dream scenario for the Utes, the 12 year affiliation elevated the program to new heights. I believe Utah can continue on this upward trajectory with the Big 12. Any of my fellow Ute brothers and sisters looking down at the Big 12 are just wrong. Once the season is kicked off and we see the level of competition in person, this narrative will become silent.
Utah reminds me of the final days of the old Big 8, with Colorado, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. I think Utah is a good fit for the Big 12, too bad they can't beat up on Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas or A&M now.
How would adding Kansas to the SEC make any sense? Except for basketball, their teams are average. Kansas has nothing in common with the SEC schools, geographically, historically, or just about anything else.
I live in the east bay. I can't wait for Cal to renew their historic rivalries this fall with Miami, SMU, Florida State, Pitt, Wake Forest, Syracuse, and NC State.
😂
😂😂
kansas would be a fool for not going to bg ten or sec
I think Missouri would Love its rival Kansas back as a in conference foe versus stoking a rivalry with Arkansas which is not mutual. Arkansas wants texas as their rival
I live in Tucson Arizona I Lille your show
Can't see a Big12 team winning the conference 3 of out 5 years... maybe 2 years.
I can see a team making the playoffs 3 out of 5 as the 2nd best Big12 team.
But more importantly, they need to win in the CFP, otherwise the Big12 will fall to a distant 3rd as opposed to a close 3rd.
John,I tried like 6 times to sign up.I have no gotten an welcome email to confirm it
I enjoy your commentary and am glad your channel has grown the way it has. But when can we get back to some shorter content. The concise, 10-15 minute videos were the best.
Wow!
As a SEC fan living in North Carolina 45 minutes from Wake Forest campus. The Wake Forest fan is an elusive creature😂
I don’t see that very few teams add enough value to justify adding them I think the big 12 is good the way it is maybe add some teams from the ACC and maybe get a little better TV deal and the Big 12 can be competitive most years

🥱 wake me up when Conference realignment starts back up! 😴
KU and ISU to the SEC. Missouri gets the Border War and Telephone Trophy games back. Plus the SEC gets 2 new states. The SEC West would look a lot like the old Big12.
If Greg Sankey moved on blue blood basketball schools. I think that would be a signal for the beginning of the end of NCAA. Basketball makes its money in the postseason- sure these programs playing each other would spark bigger ratings- but march madness is where the money is for college 🏀. With revenue sharing on the horizon- the days of the ncaa running itself on the 🏀 money is coming to an end. The conferences/committees will probably run in the future and money split similar to the CFP. Over a billion 💵 - these conferences will want their share of that.
Basketball Money comes from the Post Season. Tournament is Expanding. Every Round a team Plays PAYS the Conference 1 additional Share.
So you DOUBLE the Tournament and NOW you get more teams IN... so instead of 6 or 8 you get 10 or 12 shares in the New 1st Round.
If you add Kansas, UNC to Kentucky &c you have 3 teams that could play in the Championship Game any year.
if they make the Title game they get 6 or 7 shares and any 1 of them can do it. Most years each will make the Elite 8 on average. That is now 5 shares not 4.
If you have those 3 Brands everybody else will get better Talent and they will get IN more and WIN at least 1 game more.
Every 1 game winner DOUBLES your number of Shares... Basketball VALUE is going UP immensely very soon.
@@user-kn7ry8iz6x I agree- fun fact if you added UNC, KU and Duke(UK already there). Those 4 programs have been in the championship game 14 times out of the last 23 tournaments. So 60% of the championships games since 2000.
I can see college 🏀 going the way of college 🏈. Where the conferences get and manage more of the money. Right now the payouts for the 🏀 units is only like 1/3 the total revenue. The other 2/3 is used across the NCAA and helps subsidize D2/D3 athletics. I can see D1 ending that and getting access to more of that money.- just like they did with the CFP. It will be interesting to see what happens, if the SEC did this They would have a very powerful position with any proposed changes in March madness revenue distribution in the future.
@@user-kn7ry8iz6x I agree- The total revenue distribution for the basketball units only pays out around 1/3 of the total tournament revenue- 2/3 is going to run other NcAA championships and subsidizes D2/D3 athletics. I can see D1 moving to end that and move to secure more of the revenue for themselves. College 🏈 broke away from the NCAA 40 years ago- I see 🏀 doing the same thing. Also, Fun fact if the SEC moved on UNC, KU and Duke (UK already there) those4 programs have represented the championship game 14 times out of the last 23 tournaments. Thats 60% representing since 2000. If the SEC wanted to control or heavily influence any potential changes in march madness revenue distribution in the future- having those brands would be a power play.
@@martin53088 I think they are starting to do that. If Kansas, UK, UNC and maybe Duke all in the same conference. Would attract a lot of attention.
As a Kansas fan F*ck that. We’re finally gone from Texas and Oklahoma. Why would we want to get bullied again 😂 #RockChalk baby!
Your Big 12 title pick clears
Purely wishful thinking on my part, but if the ACC is separating, then I would like to see the Big 12 persuade Pittsburgh and Louisville to join
I’m focused on Big 12 winning non-conference games this year. Not playoffs. We can’t have a start like last year or any playoff talk, other than conference winner, is out the door.
Go Pokes!
Not a Utah fan but I feel bad that they had to take a step down in conference realignment.
👍
Not 1 Big 12 team has consistently elevated themselves above the others since OU's run which is in the distant past. There's no evidence this will change. And there's even less evidence that Utah will step in and do it. They didn't even do it in the Pac 12. Most recently it was Baylor. Baylor will run the Big 12. Then it was TCU. Who next? When has KSU run it? Tech? OSU? ..... I like and listen often but the odds of this happening are very very low.
As far as Big ten, it depends on if Big ten wants to go to 24 teams. It would be a possibility after an FSU, Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, if they want to pick up another team or two in the Midwest/West. Maybe with a Utah. I don’t think anyone knows who could get a 22-24 spot. Lance put himself on the map at UW Whitewater only 12 miles from me.
No big 12 school will ever win win another natty in football😅
I think the stay-free max pad super absorbent big 12 would be awesome.
Texas and Oklahoma will get pummeled in the SEC. It would take Kansas a decade to win a game in the SEC. I don’t think they could even beat vandy.
Then you’ve been asleep the last two years…
This is BS
ROCK CHALK!!!
Kansas fits the bill as it relates to a new state, national brand. I know football drive the train but it makes sense
Flagship University
@@jansonroberts2616 which is an unwritten requirement to join the SEC.

The ACC is gonna lose 9 schools. FSU, Miami, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Pitt, NC State, UNC, Clemson, Duke.
That will leave Wake Forest, Syracuse, Boston College, SMU, Stanford, Cal.
They can backfill with Oregon State, Washington State, Tulane, UTSA, Rice, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Boise, USF.
That is not a P4 conference.
Virginia? Virginia Tech?
Memphis
Oklahoma State would probably be near the top of the list of teams that would go to the SEC and then UCF if both Miami and Florida State leave for the Big Ten the SEC will come calling for UCF in order to counter that and maintain a huge footprint in the state of Florida. Other than that, no chance any go to sec.
Kansas's shot relies on what FSU does. The B1G isn't going back to the midwest for an expansion team. They are hard pressed to get into the southeast and after that, Stanford. Kansas needs FSU to go to the B1G to open an opportunity for the SEC... even after that, it might have to beat Duke for that spot.
Not just consistently winning the conference, but getting at least a first round win in the playoff, I think, would be required in order to earn some respect and earn a look.
North Carolina, Virginia, Kansas, & OK State to SEC
Texas Tech has no shot in SEC. B1G would be hard pressed to add them.
@ronon3849 tech makes more money then some of the sec big 10 teams with less money giving to them and still makes a profit same with kansas state
I don't think the SEC needs any baskeball schools. They have the monies and enough schools with basketball pedigree to build on their own. The SEC is no chump basketball league.
Facts I was just speaking on how underrated the MBB is. The SEC has won the SEC/Big 12 challenge for consecutive years and the SEC/ACC challenge ended with a draw
Its all speculation for now. The criteria for expansion keeps changing. Maybe Kansas is a red herring to distract us from the real targets?? Still, the name keeps being mentioned by those in the know! Will be interesting to see what really happens!
It’s no secret KU is going all in on moving to SEC. They invested a lot of money into the program. There true rivalry is Mizzu, that game alone can sell out Arrowhead. They would do well in SEC east division. Football program is on the rise in Lawrence, KS
Kublos
Kublos
Show a healthy QB with the necklace.
..
There is no East Division anymore. But if you mean they'd do well against Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Missouri; I don't think they'd have a winning conference record against them.
I don’t recall the ku/mu games selling out arrowhead in the heyday of the ‘07 - ‘08 seasons when both of those programs were at their recent 20-year ish peaks; didn’t they play a year or two there back then? Probably well attended, but don’t believe sold out.
You can say what you want about Penn State but go do some research check Penn State record against every BIG12 team so while you think your smack talking Penn State your also smack talking the BIG12 schools considering Penn State has a winning record against every BIG12 team 😂😂😂
Basketball is irrelevant. The way borderline big 12 and ACC schools can gain entry into p2 is by accepting reduced shares.
Nobody cares about the Wine Sipping, Oer d'oeuvre eating Yuppies to the North..signed

PSU beat Utah in 3 quarters in the Rose Bowl. Before I hear the excuses, Rising doesn't play defense and they gave up two 80 yard TDs.
I love John. But is growing P2 resentment is ridiculous. I can't afford a Ferrari or Lambo. I don't wake up every day obsessing how to close the gap in my finances to buy one either.
There is a significantly lower chance than zero, that KU ever joins the SEC.
Why? Their rival and next-door neighbor (3 hours away), Mizzou is in the SEC...
@@Jonas-nf2bcand Oklahoma, I would love Kansas to be in the SEC
@@oceanwaves4141 Right! People act like basketball doesn’t generate at least $10-15 Million per year in TV revenue per for these power conference school. KU has a huge following and Alabama will be ranked #1 Preseason. UK and Arkansas now will have a rivalry. So of course, Mizzou/Kansas will matter in basketball just like Texas/Oklahoma in football.
@@Jonas-nf2bc Yeah, and so what if your payout is close to $100 large and you bring nothing else to the table.
@@Jonas-nf2bc It does and MOST of the money Basketball brings is for making the Tournament and Winning Games
Does anybody think that Texas Oklahoma and Missouri would vote and Kansas to the SEC
Supposedly, Mizzou is pushing for Kansas with OU, A&M and Texas recommending them too.
It’s a stretch and only makes some sense geographically. But even then, not exactly the southeastern part of the country. So far, the SEC has pretty much kept their expansion to the south and east. And it might be an odd fit culturally. They are an AAU school which does matter to the decision makers, whether or not people believe that. They’re also a national brand. They wouldn’t have so many haters if they weren’t. Overall, seems to me that IF the B1G or the SEC wanted them, they would have already snagged them years ago.
Oh ye of little faith
In the near future, EVERYONE will sell their own mom to get into the B12. Things change. Contracts change 😂
Have a great week.
LMAO In 5 years 6 to 8 of the schools in the Big 12 NOW will not be in it anymore.
Favorite thing about Big 12 homers is nothing possibly could ever hurt the league, meanwhile their admins are out panhandling for cash
I don't think KU has a chance to get in the SEC or the Big 10they are not good enough for them .They are overrated in football they are good enough for basketball but basketball doesn't drive enough money right now for both of those conferences!!!!!
And theyre an academic joke
@@JJ-yx6jy They are AAU. And Basketball Money is about to DOUBLE with the coming Tournament Expansion.
Most Basketball Money is from the Tournament, not the TV Contract.
The teams that bring the Most Basketball Money are schools like Kansas, North Carolina, Kentucky, Duke, UConn because they play LATE into the Tournament.
SEC could grab Kansas, North Carolina, Virginia and Duke and make BANK.
Plus you cannot forget that the Basketball Expansion will be with WOMEN"S Basketball too,
The Women earn the SAME Per Share Payouts the Men do. The money Shares the more money.
@JJ-yx6jy As a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaig(BA/MA) and University of Kansas (GS/ Ph.D.), both are wonderful research institutions and members of AAU. My time at both schools was wonderful, and I received a world-class education.
With that said, I would like to ask you what makes KU a joke in academics? There was nothing easy about earning my graduate certificate and doctoral degree at KU.
@@williamadams2964 My bad I was thinking K State.
How is KU underrated? By the way, how is football going for Purdue, Rutgers, Indiana , Illinois, Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State? I could go on.
I am an SEC guy the SEC needs to add Kansas Notre Dame, Virginia and North Carolina and that’s it be done with realignment after that
Hell will freeze over before ND joins the SEC.
What about Clemson and FSU? Or Miami?
Know sec wants into nc, and inside nc everyone knows ncstate ( bigger than unc) is fb school. Would sec take unc and ncstate ( partial share) or take neither?
Is a #20-something recruiting class supposed to be impressive?

If were going off money the best bi12 school with revenue are texas tech and kansas state if texas tech lower there expenses with women's sports losing money they be the best fit for a sec big 10 school only school in top 25 in athletic revenue
This is not a net revenue discussion but a gross. It doesn’t matter how much and school is paying their programs
@tylermiller5836 name of the game is profit whats the point of making 199 million and owe 198 million in expenses (oklahoma)

The BIG12 should bring Mizzou, A&M and Nebraska back.
The B1G would probably be happy to let the Big 12 have Nebraska.
@@romanmoronie lol, I believe you are right.
So Big 12 fans think ACC school want to join the Big 12 to be in their every game is a struggle conference rather than STAY in the ACC and be the NEW Big Dogs of the ACC after FSU and Clemson leave?
