Not all coffin damage is due to grave robbers. I’ve read that during the Victorian period that if the embalming process was done incorrectly, gases would build up in the corpse causing it to exploded and blow the coffin apart.😮 Another good video!
@llightshope8283 Most were. I don't think these exploded but some on the top and middle levels you could see how body fluids leaked out and poured over the ledges.
Wow great video! ❤ I love how this historic Crypt with all those amazing details in stone work. Such a tragedy how people left it abandoned and destroy it. Greeting from Indonesia🇮🇩
Wow... Dale you are willing to go to great lengths to show us interesting places. Thank you both, this was very interesting. The people who threw trash down there make me sick, very disrespectful.
@escapade_z They were indeed. But being so religious and superstitious back then, you would think grave robbing would be a no-no. It goes to show how bad life must have been for the lower classes. 😔
I'm in America. However, since a wee lad I've ALWAYS found buildings that were abandoned and still standing very interesting. At a moment in time they thrived the same as Amazon does now. But, time moves on. The older I've gotten I always seem to want to know each building person working there full story. I worked at a cemetary at 17 for a summer job and had the most respect for head stones and tombs. But, always read the dates and imagined who they were, their personality and knowing once upon a time they did not want to see the end of life's road either. Thank you for giving us visuals to these hopefully peaceful souls.
I know where this is, I lived in the village next to it, my parents still do. I've never been inside it but when I was younger me and my friends would play about near it. It use to be locked up. So sad to see it like this now.
That was a cracking little find guys 👌👏 Well done on your history too, very interesting and helps us understand what we're looking at. Love you two, looking forward to seeing lots more from you, have a great week guys 🩷💙
It's so sad the history of who, when and how long it took to build things like this have vanished into the past. Those who built old crypts, mausoleums, etc were TRUE CRAFTSMAN. They did all that work WITHOUT CAD, WITHOUT any formal or college education, WITHOUT all the electronic and digital technology we have, WITHOUT power tools AND STILL THEY STAND. What a shame this level of architecture and building does not exist on this level any more, and in my own opinion, it really does NOT. The quality, hard work, creativity and pride of those Craftsman deserves being remembered. Grave Robbers are a disgrace with no respect for ANYONE including themselves. Great explore Dale and Lisa!!! ❤ ~ APRIL LIPKE😂
Yea I think they were kinda asking for it back then , the world was a different place and most people were poor , the rich people took advantage of the poorer ones , we say it’s bad but would we of done the same to feed our family … catch 22 in them days
Hi mate that's crazy people have done that in the past but your right was a thing in the victorin period I really enjoyed watching and like all your content definitely need to come exploring up wales and Scotland
Hi Dale & Lisa, I heard Lisa mention a door to a tunnel that went to a big house. Did you not see the evidence of a bricked up doorway directly opposite the bottom of the staircase? Perhaps that was it. If you go to 16.22 you can see the vertical line of mortar between the bricks, and a larger lintel stone across the top. I couldn't see the left hand side as it looked like a pillar or something was in the way, but it certainly looks like an old doorway to me. If it did lead to a big house, then if that property still remains, then it may have been bricked up at both ends to prevent burglars getting into the house. Just a theory of mine. It is terrible that people can be so callous to rip open the coffins of the dead to steal anything that may have been on the bodies when they were laid to rest. It's possible the flowers were left by someone looking for their ancestors and finding them and laid as a tribute. The same with the semicircle of candles, incense stick etc. It could simply be someone lighting candles when saying prayers for the deceased. Doesn't really strike me as being anything more sinister (not that I know anything about such things). I've seen another clip of people going into the same church/crypt. Like you, just curious explorers who observed with dignity. When the relatives of the dead lay their loved ones here to rest, I seriously doubt they ever expected them to end up like this. It's awful to think there are people who would do this kind of thing, sharing the same planet as us!
😮 Oh WOW!!! That was an amazingly Creepy Video, and sad at the same time knowing how much vandalism had taken place, not to mention what kind of Rituals were actually going on... Possibly Necromancy, and other sick and twisted Satanic Rituals. It is very sad to see how most of these once sacred graves were desecrated like that. I will say, that besides all of that the crypt still hung on to some of the beauty it once had. The ornate Masonry work and how Nature surrounded it. I'm glad that you were both safe, excellent job to you both.
My ancestry comes from Scotland and would hate to think that my ancestors were in places like you visited and to be looted like so many of these. So sad to see this

To be honest, I never would have gone down there! Oh my days….who broke through that seal at the top to begin with? So many questions now lol You got Nerve Dale lol.
WOW!!! What a beautiful building. I noticed over the doors that the window looked like a rose. Do roses have some special meaning with the Campbell family?? Also loved the history you had about the one guy. Alexander I believe. How cool. In my research I recently found the name Campbell for one of my ancestors. But I think it was connected with Ireland. It would be cool to find out if they originated in Scotland. I've already seen it twice for other Irish relatives. Great video Dale. You're really getting more comfortable with videos that are more in depth. And on a side note. The picture Lisa put up on Instagram I had made a comment on. The comment now has 101 likes.
