Gotta say I love the dogs! Watching you has given me courage to restore an '84 TRX200 that my wife bought as a project. Parts are so scarce that we ran across a parts donor for $100 so with watching your TRX200 AND ATC200ES videos, getting an original service manual from the local Honda dealership (for free if you can believe it) I think we have the knowledge to put together a complete bike. Thank you for the great videos! When you have time please keep them coming
Assembly lube is always very important... when I did mine I used my bel ray 2 stroke oil on the wrist pin and bearing put some on the rod needle bearings then on the rings and smeared some in the intake ports and on the reed pedals so as soon as it fired it was getting oil all over... smoked like crazy but oil is cheap top ends aren't
Fantastic job as always, can't wait for the ride video. Busy day today, picked up my other truck, loaded up a 700 Sportsman and waiting for a seat cover customer to pick up his Brute Force 750 seat. Rode the dx225, 250sx and a 1990 300 fourtrax 4wd I picked up from the original owner, last night before dark and thats the way to end the day. This week I'm building shelves for plow mounts and preparing for the winter project of adding 8ft. steel shelves for the blades and push tubes. Looks like I'll be grinding till the bitter end but I'd rather burn out then fade away.[Words from Neil young]. Take care and I'll be sending a strongly worded message to Harvey.
Man, I have an 81 that looks just like that. They are very similar bikes the 81 and 82. My plastics are original and in a bit better condition, but like you said you were just trying to get it running I completely understand that. I had to rebuild the top end of my 81 baught a top end or jug from ebay and sent them mine luckily I had a spear from another bike that I sent to them not my original because when I got it back with the new wisco piston there were some broke off air fins, witch I was not happy with at all, but I was excited so I pushed forward and put the thing back together and to my Dads surprise the bike started third kick. God Bless my friend.
I love your videos, and appreciated your help when I messaged you, that 84, 200m is running like a top, and I’ve had it out on a few trail rides, I love it, thanks again.
Save the Two-Strokes! Love the video. I wanna make the idle my ringtone. It makes me believe we can fix them all! Cheers! enjoy the rest of the weekend! See ya at Trikefest!
That's the kick I needed . Draging my 82 out tomorrow! Po told me it's got 310cc kit in it. Can't confirm but I threw a 32mm carb on it and need to tune the jetting. & finish installing swing arm. They had all thread and I sorced a oem swing arm bolt 🔩 that wasn't cheap...
Another informative build to help the next guy. It's probably going to be better to heat cycle it with a new carb anyway the break in will go alot more smooth and easier to read.
Keep it up... another great video man! I always like to complete a leak down test on any of my 2 strokes after a rebuild 5 - 7psi for 5 minutes. I like to check crank seals and reed block / boot just to be overly cautious while I am doing a top end especially anything that has some hours on it. Ready to see more of your 250r! Take care buddy!
Hey Taylor, that's a good idea, I will pick up a leak down kit asap. As stated in the video, these are new to me and I'm always willing to learn something about.mechanic. thanks for sharing.

That was a great video on how to use cylinder hones and how to use them. I just realized that on the 82 250R that the chain and sprockets are on the right side of the bike, don't know why I didn't see that before. But always, you do a great job of explaining how things go, and how they should be. BTW what part of FL are you in, I'm only 20 mins south of Orlando. 👍

Sounds like the carb stuck open. Or may be the cable. Recheck your compression, fill the bowl of the carb with fuel, verify the throttle cable is not sticking, turn the fuel off at the tank, Check you fast idle setting you may have it screwed in to much, you may have the slide in the carb backwards and its hanging up. They may have also heard that by deleting the base gasket on 2 stroke ehgines you can raise the compression ratio. If deleting one helps? then deleting both base and head gasket should turn it into a rocket right?Lol! Base gasket deleting is very common on "hot saws" (chain saws for competition)to increase the compression ratio or make the piston to head distance closer and squeeze out a little bit more power. It's easy and no machining is required.Get it wrong though and busted heads and bent rods will ruin your day. I would assume that all of the exhaust ports on that cylinder head could also be polished and the intake ports flowed out and enlarged like a saw also? Anyway, it was a great video!
2 - strokes really are the easiest engines, they have a lot less moving parts, this is part of why they rev so fast, I am still learning these myself. But I could get use to cheaper rebuilds. lol
