Best review of the 23zero I’ve seen ! Love from Australia 🇦🇺 !
Wow! Thanks so much @Dan Mark! It’s a fantastic product and we just had to show the folks @23zero some love! 😄 Thanks for watching! Happy holidays and safe travels to you and yours! 🌲🌲🌲
👍Thank you for the demo of the 23Zero wall setup and folding for storage. I recently ord'd and rec'd the complete kit (Walls 1&2)) w/screens) for 270 awning. Will now be prepared for the Spring rains.
A trick I found for hanging the rope light was to get a box of the inexpensive S-shaped nylon gutter clips (for Christmas lights) from Walmart. Attach one half of the clip over the horizontal zipper that runs around the edge of the awning, and the rope light wiring can slip into the other half of the S clip. The usb end of the rope light I run behind the roof rack brackets, then down the to the fender where I set the Jackery.
Of course, I'll have to rethink this method when I have the wall kits installed. 🤔
@retnav92 Thanks for watching! Had no idea 23zero finally added screen walls! Well, there goes our xmas bonus! Great idea on the lighting! will definitely give that a try! Happy new year!!!
@@skywaystohighways Happy New Year to you also. The 23zero screen walls are not fully screened, but have 2 windows in the rear wall (galley end), and a screen door and window in the forward wall. Each window/door also has a zippered storm flap. The walls are listed as the Deluxe Wall Kits 1 & 2. Reading the info, you cannot mix the screened walls with the non-screen style due to zipper variances, so be aware of that.
@@retnav92 We went to their site and checked them out as soon as we saw your comment. Didn't realize they weren't mix and match, so thanks for that! I'm hoping they'll make a fully screened wall eventually, or I'll have to figure out a way to make em myself. I'm skeeter bait!! No one needs mosquito spray when I'm around. Lol!
@@skywaystohighways Lol, not a fan of mosquitoes myself. Hoping I have some decent early weather prior to Spring to do a practice setup of the walls.
thanks for the review
@A different project Our pleasure! Thanks for watching!
Very good video!
@douglas angel flores Thanks so much!
Thanks for video! Just put deposit down last week and went with 23 Zero awning, 4 walls, and Max fan. Glad to see it is easy and they work.
Happy New Year @ Debi Craddock and congratulations on joining the HT family! We’re glad our video was helpful. How many months are needed for your build?
Thoroughly enjoying your videos. Thank you for your willingness to share. We thoroughly enjoyed the Hiker Campout and your totally scrumptious cooking !! It was tremendous meeting and getting to know both of you. Now get out and start doing "Some" or "Little" camping. Whatever your viewpoint may be. Thank you Matt and Wendy for such a great weekend !!
@Those Adventurous Aults It was awesome meeting you guys! Thanks so much for great conversation and for spending time with us. So glad you enjoyed the food! Definitely getting out to do some MORE camping! Lol! Safe travels and please keep in touch!
We have watched and enjoyed several of your videos. You also gained two subscribers. Keep on, keeping on and we will do the same. Be safe and enjoy the journey!!
Thanks much. My wife and I just bought an Hiker Mid Range XL. We have lived quite a bit on our Arctic Fox TT and sailboat but would like to try on of these.
@ARIAVIALLE Congratulations!!!! When is your pick up? We’ve always kicked around the idea of sailing. Thanks so much for watching! Safe travels, friends. 🤎
@@skywaystohighways just ordered it , so 3 months.
You had said you were looking for a solution to store the extra awning poles in a more "permanent" way. Idea: Get an appropriate length of irrigation pipe (black ABS is a good diameter) with end caps (slip on or screw on); mount this to the rack. I used this to mount my sewer hose on a trailer not having a hose tube. Works really well (the screw end cap makes it easy to load/unload the contents).
Nice video, thanks!!
@Dave Dempster Apologies for the delayed response. We’ve been “Skyways “ for a bit. That’s a great idea! Will definitely do that at some point. Sounds like a perfect solution! Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed our video! Safe travels!
Yup my thoughts exactly. That is how I carry some fishing poles
Outstanding ...Amazinng review
Thanks so much @Puertorican in Oregon! And thanks for subscribing to our channel. Glad you enjoyed the video! Happy holidays to you and yours! 🌲🌲🌲
This is all hard for a single camper. Especially when your short
@GigiEmbrechts Agreed, but it's all in the organization. The more streamlined your kit is, the easier it will be to manage. Folding footstools are the way to go!
That was really very helpful. Will go with the Milliard mattress. Those fans look great also.
@Mary Gray So glad! You will definitely be happy with the Milliard. It’s very comfy and the perfect size! The fans are awesome! Still using them every trip and no problems. Thanks for watching and supporting our little channel! Safe travels!
@Mary Gray Just noticed our link for the fans is missing from our show notes. Sorry! amzn.to/3wz5uHY
Great video. Very nice...
Thanks so much, @TALHA ATES! So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Your weather looks great... don't put it away!
Hi Kevin! We were hoping for one last trip, but work got in the way. It’s back to the “friendly skies” for us. For a little while anyway. Safe travels and thanks for watching! 🍁
@@skywaystohighways - Ha... I'm betting that there is nothing friendly about serving the public right now.
Truth! Hopefully, I’ll have the wherewithal to duck in time! 😂
Are you guys still happy with your mattress? We have a different camper (Runaway RangeRunner) so a little wider. We got a trifold cot size and a twin size mattress for ours, so it's a narrow king and works OK, except!
A. I ordered 6" and we got 4". I'm 6'3 and over 250 so 4" is a bit thin for us.
B. Just like a queen size with the Hiker, we have the dreaded door bulge when the mattresses are out.
I added a new mattress to my winter camper project list - thinking a 1 piece queen and I want something nice... problem is, without the folding action, we'll lose a lot of storage when we travel home - site... unless we pile stuff on the mattress and clean sheets. Since I'm on the taller side I can't really do a platform in ours if I want to be able to sit up in bed.
Also considering switching to electric cook setup. I'll always have my single burger propane / butane burner... but electric would be easier and free'er.
Hi @Chadi7173 Tosh here. We absolutely LOVE our mattress. The 6" is key for comfort in my opinion and the full size fits perfectly in our HT.
For us, electric wouldn't really be an option. We boondock quite a bit and often don't have electric hook ups. If you're campsite/KOA campers, electric is definitely easier. Something to consider before making the switch.
Great Job and it looks like you two had an amazing trip. I am patiently waiting for my Mid Range XL 5x10 . Hoping in August or September. I enjoyed this review especially the 23Zero awning as I have that too.
@Ramon Holguin Thanks so much! We’re glad you enjoyed our video. Congratulations on joining the HT family! Waiting on your build, is the tough part. Kinda wish we had gone with the 5’x10” as well, but ours fits us just fine. Where’s your inaugural voyage planned for?
@@skywaystohighways Thank you for your response. I live in Texas and I will pick my HT up in Colorado. I will take a week off from work. My hope is that I pick my HT up in Sept. when the leaves are changing. I am a passionate photographer so I am always looking for interesting images to photograph. My inaugural voyage will be taking the tailer down to Chaco Canyon World Heritage Site so I can photograph the ruins. From there I will do a slow drive back to Texas with my travel companion Ringo, my rescue dog..
@@ramonholguin5022 Wow! That sounds amazing! I love photography and I’m guessing it’s going to be a beautiful site to photograph, that time of year. Do you ever post your work online? Would love to see your pics.
Real nice job, guys!
Hi @DrC! Thanks so much for watching! Glad you’ve enjoyed it!
@@skywaystohighways THINKING about getting a Hiker myself. I live in IN.
That’s awesome! Have you been to their factory yet? If not, you should since you’re in the area. A bunch of really great folks. Get your questions answered and size them up in person. That’s what we did and it helped solidify our decision. No hard selling, or anything like that. You’ll leave there knowing that they simply love what they do and they put that into a quality product. Safe travels and happy holidays to you and yours, @DrC
@@skywaystohighways I plan to do just that in June. Takes me about 1.5 hours to get to Columbus.
That’s great! Would love to hear your take, afterwards!
I love your Max fan and mattress and that was kind of Jackery. Thanks for sharing
Thanks @tedsamuels3203 ! So do we! Yes. we have 2 Jackerys and can't recommend them enough! Thanks so much for watching our video!
Thanks for sharing. Have you had any issues at the end of your season with the water tank? Are they easy to drain to prevent freezing issues?
@Steve Burns. Hi, Gary here. It's very easy to drain and there will still, most likely be a little water left. That amount should not be enough to cause a problem if it freezes. I just dump some cheap vodka in after I drain it. The other thing is the first year I didn't get the water pump dry enough, so the bladder ripped and I had to replace it. We don't store the hiker outside. We have a storage unit.. Hope that helps Safe travels.
The table you mounted on the side of your Hiker, How thick is the plywood table top?
Thanks for watching our video @Jason Campbell The table is exactly 1” thick.
Enjoyed the video! Regarding your "love-hate" relationship with the Revel lights: have you checked out the Luminoodle Basecamp? I picked one up a few months ago and it's really easy to manage set-up and pack-away. It's a little pricey and only 20 feet long but I have found it to be really useable. Cheers!
Thank so much @Kurt Spurgin we’ll definitely check those out! Are you a new HT owner? We’re so glad you’ve enjoyed our video. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
@@skywaystohighways Thanks for the reply:) I’m not a HT owner but I enjoy seeing what other people are doing with their rigs. I have a Bushwakka Bhoma and do a lot of boondocking as well. I hope you have a great 2022!
@@kurtspurgin4942 Had to check out a video on your rig, since I’ve never heard of it. Wow! That thing’s a beast! 😄😄😄 Impressive!
@@skywaystohighways thank you 🙏🏻 Happy New Year! Keep putting out great content!
this video was great... I have almost an identical 5x9 Midrange XL on order for April pickup. I even already have the Jackery 1000. I just spend 2 weeks truck camping using it in southern AZ. I did not plan to have any solar or electrical setup installed... I thought the Jackery would run the trailer.... ice chest, not fridge right now. Do you think I should reconsider the basic electrical package? You advice is appreciated... thx... Fred from Flagstaff
Hi Fred. Gary here. I think the Jackery 1000 is a work horse. I would think that the Jackery would run your trailer. We thought about not getting the electrical but so glad we did. That along with the Jackerys just makes everything much easier. I would say get the electric. if not maybe have it wired for it so you can do it later. We love having a frig. Hope that helped.
question for you, i recently picked up my Hiker Camper and trying to get some curtains for mine. i seen the curtains you have. i used the link for the curtains, was wondering about the curtain rod and hooks. did you just pick up a normal curtain rod? the command hooks you used, which ones were they?
@travelinwithTODD Hey there! Thanks for watching our video and using our link for the curtains. We really appreciate that. The rods were purchased at Target and I believe they're 2" in diameter. The 1" rods will fall out of the command brackets, so any thicker rod should do, as long as it's no bigger than a broomstick. Here's the link for the hooks on Amazon, but you can pick them up at Target or Walmart as well. Happy New Year to you and safe travels! amzn.to/3Q6qNcu
Thank you for sharing! What dolly do you use to move the trailer around?
Hi @Freedom Revival. Gary here. The dolly is from Harbor Freight. Not too much $$. Somewhere around $75. Thanks for watching.
Thank you Gary, this is helpful!
Maybe an additional question, what’s the average mpg on your rubicon 4 door with the Hiker on? Thanks!
@@freedomrevival1375 Hi! Mpg was around 15to 16. Did suffer in the Mountains , especially when the water tank was full. Now we’re going to suffer even more. We put a 2in lift with 35in tires. But it looks cool 😎
@Freedom Revival Anytime! Glad we could help! Safe travels!
Love you videos! What size storage unit do you have?
Hi,Gary here. We have a Big unit. It’s 10x40, but we live in a townhouse with a one car garage. We have another jeep and Kayaks we store for the Winter. With an MR XL you will need at least 80 inches clearance, maybe a little more with an awning. A 10x15 should work just fine. Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions. Safe travels!
@@skywaystohighways thank you so much!
@@denayarbrough2346 Glad we could help! Contact us anytime if you have any other questions! Safe travels!
Thanks for the review on the iceco and the jackets combo! How many hours (or days) do you feel you get powering it with your jackets 1000 without having to give the jackets any additional juice?
Hi Ariel Gary here. The Iceco VL 60 is a big frig with a freezer. I first tried it out in the garage. It was spring with the day time temp 60ish night time around mid to low 50s. I would say around 60 to 70 hrs. On the trip we had sun about everyday. My guess is you should get somewhere around 48 to 50hrs in the summer. Smaller frig you would get a few more hours. Was pleased with both the Jackery and the Iceco.
@@skywaystohighways thanks Gary! This is perfect, pulled the trigger on a JP40 and have an existing Jackery (500 not 1000) but was trying to get a good feel for longevity in the 1000. Appreciate it!
@@arielganillo3432 Hi! The Jackery 500 should do just fine. Would like to know the run time with the JL40 and the JK500.
Hows the quality of the overall trailer? Interested to buy one soon
Hi there @K&P Adventures Uploaded a thorough walkthrough on our Pickup Day 2 video, if you haven't seen that one, you should definitely check it out. But cliff notes-wise, overall quality on a scale of 1(meh)-5(wicked awesome), we'd give it a 5! They really paid attention to detail, as in every screw in place and all seams as they should be. Six months out, couldn't be happier with our decision. Customer service is stellar and they're a very family oriented, small business that cares about their customers. If you aren't happy, they'll make it right. Hope this helps and if you have any other questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out. Safe travels, friend!
Love the Donald Duck voices. Ha ha. It's obvious that you love your camper. What's in your dream plan for 2022?
Hey Bill Gary here. T thought she was funny with the Donald Duck voices. This year looking to stay closer to home. The White Mts here in New Hampshire, coastal Maine and Vermont. Still kicking over ideas. Do you have big plans for 2022?
@@skywaystohighways gotcha, I'm familiar with Conway NH & the kancamagus highway. Happy camping.
Hey Bill! Toshi here: Thank you! Gary wanted to edit it out! Donald Duck voices always makes you smile, right!? 😂 We haven’t camped on the Kancamangus, but it’s definitely on the list. What are you traveling in… HT, RV, or backpacker?
@@skywaystohighways at the moment we have a 4X8 Square Teardrop (made by Runaway Campers in Florida.) I managed to find a Teardrop Craftsman in Tulsa, Oklahoma and have put in an order for a 5X8 Teardrop with the galley in the rear. I am making plans to donate the Runaway to my daughter.
That’s awesome @bill leland! Lucky kid! Love those little teardrops. How long for the 5x8? What’s their delivery schedule? HT has had a massive upswing in sales. I think they’re almost at a year out.
