You will be required to quote any one, or all, of the Eleven General Orders of a Sentry from memory anytime, anywhere, and to anyone by the fifth day of the first week of training. It is imperative that you learn the Eleven General Orders of a Sentry while you are in the DEP, prior to your departure for recruit training.
Before I reported for boot camp at Parris Island on August 17, 1964, I had memorized the General Orders inside out and upside down. I could do 50 push-ups and 15 pullups. Boot camp was a breeze for me. Now I am 71 years old. I love the Corps!!!

If you stuck with number seven or eight just remember it this way. For example, for 7, imagine 7 people in the line, and for 8 associate it with alarm for 8 o’clock

here’s a tip!! you can remember 2 by think you walk with two legs and the order starts with “to walk” and for the 9th general order it starts with “to call “ and u can remember to call 911 cause it’s the 9th general order

Drafted into the US Army in 1964 sent to Fort Ord California during the Viet Nam War. WE ALL HAD TO MEMORISE 11 GENERAL ORDERS BECAUSE WE DID NOT KNOW WHERE WE WOULD BE STATIONED AFTER - ( AIT ) TRAINING. Now at the age of 75 and reviewing them I remember about 1/2.
