Hallowed be thy Name is a masterpiece
Empire of the Clouds for best Maiden closer imo.
Hallowed Be Thy Name is my favorite Maiden song, and thus my favorite metal song.
You should hear Cradle of Filth's cover of it.
Empire of the Clouds is so amazing.
My favourite maiden song
Favorite song by favorite band better be here
Edit: disappointed
That was a good one. I liked that one.
Lifehack: one can save a lot of time with these lists by just being disappointed all the time
@@jackburton3149 Ah, a wise man. I like you.
What if I expect to be disappointed? I wouldn't be disappointed because I'd be disappointed. But the I would _not_ be disappointed.
@@akkesm Man, that's a tricky one. I'll ask my Disappointment guru!
Mad respect for Call of Ktulu. Metallica has plenty of albums that end with a great song but Ktulu actually feels like a grand finale to an epic piece and not just a crazy fast, good song like Damage Inc or Dyers Eve or Spit out the Bone.
Tbh, the closing track for RTL should have been fade to black
Call of Ktulu is top 2 best songs for me but probably best album closer ever heard
1. Megadeth - my last words
2. Children of bodom - kissing the shadows
3. Death - Choke on it
My last words is definitely better than polaris.
My first thought was "Rust In Peace and Octavarium better be on here". I wasn't disappointed for once.
I was expecting Dyer's eve
Or Damage Inc
Andrew Webster damage inc all day. Dyers eve is good too though cant deny
@@8109215085986 damage Inc is a banger. sadly its very underrated
Dyers Eve is a great song but it ends the album very poorly. It just ends all of a sudden and your left there thinking there was meant to be more
@@jackkelly6251 that's a good opinion
I swear they’ve used that photo for loads of other thumbnails
high mustaine is always good to generate clicks
That pic never gets old haha
@@birkganze2977 I was about to say that Loudwire had to choose a photo of Dave when he was fucked on drugs
They changed it to chuck now, so disapointed
666ihavenolife666 that’s because there’s two of Dave’s songs on here so it’s relevant :)
For Megadeth I would go for Hook in Mouth
I'm not a fish!
Hook In Mouth is probably the best last 3 seconds in Metal, when Dave last screams "....mouth" and the music ends is just great
Yea🤘🤩
If Hallowed be thy Name isn't N.1 I'm leaving the internet forever
sarka zein I guess you’re not leaving
Well seems like you're safe
You lucky boy
Poor you, here you stay
🙄 Cheater, you watched the video first, and you typing after!! In this times internet it's more addicted than heavy metal, it's hard to leave...
I 100% agree with the number 1 pick, but Hallowed Be Thy Name is also my favourite Iron Maiden song.
Ffffffppppphhhhhh
Basic bitch
@@xVx_Krt_xVx_KillMe Nothing basic about acknowledging what a masterpiece that song is
Blackened Trooper yeah nothing wrong with that it’s one of their biggest songs but it is as good of a song as there is
@@blackenedtrooper It was satire, good sir.
Yes!!!!!🤟🏻
I bet if there wasn't the "1 song per band" limit, this list would be full of Iron Maiden.
1.Death - Perennial Quest (Symbolic), A Moment Of Clarity/Painkiller (Sound Of Perseverance)
2.Iron Maiden - Alexander The Great (Somewhere In Time), To Tame Land (Piece Of Mind)
3.Judas Priest - One Shot at Glory (Painkiller)
4.Rainbow - A Lithg in The Black (Rising)
5.Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss (Seasons in Th Abyss)
6.Morbid Angel - God Of Emptiness (Covenath)
7.Cannibal Corpse - Beyond the Cementary (Tomb Of The Mutilated)
8.Pantera - The Underground in America/Sandblasted Skin (The Great Southern Trenkill)
9.Vital Remains Entwined By Vengeance (Dechristianize).
Entwined By Vengeance is just perfect.
this is a real list thank you, video list is a joke
Seasons in the abyss. That song is beyond epic. The perfect ending to a godly album.
Well said!
Agreed, seasons may well be the perfect metal song, along side walk with me in hell by lamb, and domination by pantera,
I literally screamed YES when all the prog songs were on here
I did the same.
Prog is love, prog is life
prog is shit. hardcore and grind forever motherfuckers!
Prog sucks ass, only snobs like that shit
Still no love for savatage
@@elpeluca7780 I bet ur one of those guys that only listens to cannibal corpse. I want you to know that I don't like cannibal corpse
1. My Last Words/Megadeth
2. Apocalyptic City/Testament
3. Howling Furies/Anthrax
I'd say Imitation Of Life is the best Anthrax album closer.
Hallowed be thy name is a deserved no.1, but to leave fear of the dark off the list entirely is just criminal!!!!
When I saw Mustaine as the lead image I wrongly assumed My Last Words was the song. Without doubt the most underrated Megadeth song ever. I’m always surprised it never became a live staple of their set.
agree
Disappointed
Edit: disappointed
umesh
disappointed
Gojira - Global Warming
Rob T not anthrax. That band is literally a bunch of idiots
@@nuckelle shut up anthrax is good
Strange Pibcuo false
@@Conundrums._ ok elitist
Strange Pibcuo ok boomer
Rainbow - Rising - Light in the black.
Totally masterpiece!
When Third Eye came in, i was thinking "why Third Eye, don't they have better closers?", and then i recall that this is actually their only legitimate closer *song*
Betting on - Hallowed be Thy Name, Rust In Peace..Polaris, Raining Blood, The Philosopher, Damage Inc.
EDIT : Of course, Call Of Ktulu is one of my all time favorite metal instrumentals. But that track and Rust In Peace...Polaris should be ranked much higher. #6 and #4 probably.
Nah, My Last Words should've made the list over Polaris.
Candlemass - A Sorcerer's Pledge
Iron Maiden - Alexander the Great
DarkMarv666 Agree with both
Iron Maiden. Does it really matter which album or which closer? Man, those guys are just living treasures.
Unpopular opinion: "Alexander" is way overrated among Maiden epics.
Yeah! Candlemass!! One of my fav bands
Accept - Princess of the Dawn
BAD ASS
That song was even greater than the most songs on this list
Hallowed be Iron Maiden's name !
Best thumbnail ever.
What about My Last Words?
What about hook in mouth???
IMakeBadGTS so far so good so what was fuckin quite good
Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys :"v ??
Bury me in smoke?
Whoa, I was so baked I forgot about that one. Off to listen and toke.
But no Damage Inc.?!
You guys gotta put the pipe down., seriously.
Yeah there pick for Metallica wouldn't even be in my top 50.
Call Of Kthulu is excellent but it ain’t the closer to Master Of Puppets
Spit out the bone>>>
@@flippy7035 because its on Ride The Lightning
The Call of Ktulu though... So Good.
I have to say, this is one of my favorite lists you've done.
Pretty much nailed my expectations.
Good job, guys.
Aerials is such an amazing end to an amazing album such a powerful song I really liked this list
Personally I'd go for Ashes in Your Mouth or Hook In Mouth, ahead of Rust in Peace... Polaris.
My Last Words!!!
@@bschuler6216 yeah, that's the best Megadeth album closer
Megadeth!!!!!🤟🏻
Gojira - The Way of All Flesh should be on here...
I think global warming would’ve fit better
Blackwater Park should be number 1 but good list
Yes
Awesome video!!! Great job Loudwire again!!!
You've got Damage Inc., Dyers Eve and Spit Out The Bone, yet you choose The Call Of Ktulu, which isn't even their best instrumental? Interesting choice, I like it.
Also, Global Warming, off Gojira's From Mars To Sirius.
Call Of Ktulu >> Spit Out The Bone.
The latter is a great song for *modern* Metallica standards but you just can't compare it to their first 4 album closers ( Metal Militia, Ktulu, Damage Inc and Dyers' Eve ).
Ktulu is the best out of those
It's way better than *spit*
The Call of Ktulu makes up arguably the best, most epic, structurally developed instrumental metal track ever. The level of organized precision and visionary approach on that song is astonishing. I would even go as far as to say the song tops everything else on Ride the Lightning, and we know it is accompanied by a tough competition of all the other songs.
dyers eve is arguably better than ktulu, and global warming is an amazing song, too, but everything else you said is just wrong, and ktulu is a perfectly fine choice.
My last words > Rust in peace
Absolutely!!!!!!!! Hallowed Be Thy Name is my favorite Iron Maiden song ever, and most likely my favorite song of all time. I have heard it so many times and it never gets old to me. I just saw Iron Maiden live this past week and hearing it live in person is always the best way to hear it. UP THE IRONS!!!!!
The forgottens: Motörhead - Orgasmatron, Judas Priest - One Shot At Glory, Dio - Egypt (The Chains Are On), King Diamond - Black Horseman, Mercyful Fate - Come to the Sabbath, Kiss - War Machine, Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno, Exodus - Strike of the Beast, Slipknot - All Hope is Gone, Lamb of God - Vigil, Eternal Tears of Sorrow - Aeon, Alice In chains - Would? !!!!!
*Post-edit:
Morbid Angel - God of Emptiness; Accept - Princess of the Dawn; Testament - Apocalyptic City; Overkill - Evil Never Dies; Ozzy Osbourne - Road to Nowhere; Rainbow - A Light In The Black; Sepultura - Fear, Pain, Chaos, Suffering; W.A.S.P. - Rebel In The F.D.G.; Dismember - Dreaming in Red
; Dokken - Dream Warriors; Paradise Lost - As I Die; Savatage - Out on the Streets; Skid Row - Wasted Time; Meshuggah - Dancers to a Discordant System; Disturbed - Meaning of Life; Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor; Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys
NICE LIST MAN!
Very solid picks.
One Shot at Glory is amazing
Any Slipknot closer could have been on the list, their all great!
One Shot at Glory is a good song, but for a Priest album closer I chose Devil's Child.
2:40 Gsus christ how does it actually sound like Dave is singing the spanish subtitles instead ..
I snort laughed at this comment
Im a simple man, I see Mastodon, im happy. Also glad to hear my fellow redhead screeching to the mic :)
I knew it wouldn't be on here but The Last Dance Massacre by Darkest Hour is my favorite album closer of all time
Other incredible closers include:
Daddy by Korn
Scissors by Slipknot
Iowa by Slipknot
Disposable Fix by The Plot In You
Global Warming by Gojira (seriously surprised that one wasn't on this list)
Hell yeah, Gojira's Global Warming is amazing. \m/
Scissors is one of my all time favorites
Pantera's Sabbath cover of Planet Caravan is also a great and calming album closer.
I think Megadeth's My Last Words is better then Rust in peace... Polaris.
I was going to say the same! Although I love "Hook In Mouth", I feel like "My Last Words" was a better album closer in every sense of the word - it wrapped up "Peace Sells" in a nice little ribbon and then handed it to you. 'I come bearing gifts... that keep on giving.'
It also includes much better solo than the one from tornado
What
@@LJLewis94 That's right.
Agreed, but we all knew it would be off Rust In Peace.
Peace Sells will always be their best record.
Would??? Alice in chains(had to put extra question Mark's, the song already has one *fart noise)
I mean, I'm a huge AIC fan, but is "Would?" metal? I'd call it grunge rock.
I always thought angry chair worked better as a closer than Would?
XistoKente grunge was just a label given to the seattle bands, if you listen to nirvana and mudhoney then to soundgarden and aic its a whole different sound so you can’t really clump them into a label like that plus aic didn’t really have a set a genre doom metal, blues, sludge metal, rock, their just their own kinda thing
XistoKente AIC is fucking stoner metal most of the time.
Pretty satisfied with this one, Loudwire :)
The Philosopher for Death? An absolute classic for sure, but the fade-out ending robs something from its effectiveness as an album closer. My pick would be Vacant Planets.
And Loudwire, WTF, where's Vektor's Recharging The Void?!?
I know a lot of people hate on Avenged Sevenfold but Save Me from their Nightmare album is an amazing closer
Such an underrated song too
100% I feel like it’s even underrated amongst a lot of the fans
Agree
Exist from their latest album is a better closer imo
Tuna Saglam M.I.A. & Acid Rain are great as well. They’re all so good it’s hard to pick one!
For me it's Iced Earth's Dante's Inferno from the Burnt Offerings album.
Such an epic song!
Very cool idea for a list
Pretty solid list!
The list is actually good! But you put Aerials above Ktulu and Blackwater Park...
So you rate Damage Inc as the best metallica song, but don't include it here, but you do include Call of Cthulu?
It's a sick song, but it ain't no Damage Inc
I can think of so many more from tons of classic albums:
Ozzy's "Diary of a Madman"
GNR's "Rocket Queen"
Skid Row's "Wasted Time"
Motorhead's "Bomber"
Extreme "Everything Under the Sun"
Ghost- Monstrance Clock!
I swear to god, if Billy Jean is not on this list.
Sami Käräjä Billy Jean? That’s not metal!
Not only is that not metal, it isn't an album closer.
imagine if mj went metal though
xxCrunchY i don’t know what tha would sound like but it would be awesome
@@MozillaFireFox1967 look up Michael Jackson The Trooper! That's what metal mj sounds like!
Come to the Sabbath mercyful fate????
I totally understand why this track didn’t make it to the list, but Global Warming by Gojira on their album From Mars to Sirius is one of the most cathartic and wholesome endings to any album I’ve heard.
Can't wait for tomorrow's video: "15 Greatest Album Middles in Metal History"
Hallowed be thy is the greatest metal song of all time!
Instead of 'into the void' I would have put 'Under the sun'.
I would have to disagree with you, I would choose Megadeth's Holy Wars, also the greatest album opener.
Under The Sun is so damn good!
Still loving you?
Animal Magnetism
I see Dave I see the video
Thank you for Call of Ktulu! Love that track.
Jane Doe by Converge. The whole album is a masterpiece
PS Also glad that White Walls is here along with Blackwater Park and Aerials.
I thought about Octavarium when I clicked. Wasn't disappointed!
Are's Lament, Loudness. I wish I could experience something like that live
The pic of Dave Mustane for the thumbnail is hilarious
I feel like God of Emptiness - Morbid Angel is missing here, and also Even The Gods Must Die - Nile
Decent list, tonnes of classics missing though imo. My top 15 (only 1 track from each band allowed):
15. Autopsy - Stillborn
14. Destruction - Confused Mind
13. Nile - Von Unaussprechlichen Kulten
12. Annihilator - Human Insecticide
11. Emperor - Inno A Satana
10. Carcass - Forensic Clinicism / The Sanguine Article
9. Kreator - Under The Guillotine
8. Saxon - Denim And Leather
7. Death - Scream Bloody Gore
6. Motörhead - Bomber
5. Megadeth - My Last Words
4. Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name
3. Exodus - Strike Of The Beast
2. Morbid Angel - God Of Emptiness
1. Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss
Loudwire needs to pin this, way better list. \m/
Putrid Abomination Cheers mate, awesome profile pic btw \m/
Agreed
Always cool to see people mention Destruction and Annihilator
O Father O Satan O Sun is simply exquisite
Yes
Daddy better be on it
Edit: dissapointed
Hope that they make a top (insert number here) disturbing album outros. It’d probably fit on a list like that along with the title track from Iowa
Also my gift to you. That is a fantastic song. Also the earache my eye is a great hidden track.
Basil Bonehead yess that would be awesome
I showed that song to my friend and he was cracking up.
Any of the closers of the first 4 Metallica albums could easily be on here, especially Ktulu and Dyers Eve
Anthrax- Gung Ho?
What about:
Korn - Daddy
Korn - My Gift To You
Alice In Chains - Would
Down - Bury Me In Smoke
Slipknot - Iowa
Flames Of The End - At The Gates
The Truth Beyond - Entombed
Come To The Sabbath - Mercyful Fate
Killing Star - The Crown
The Feeling's Back - Suicidal Tendencies
Under The Guillotine - Kreator
Melissa - Mercyful Fate
AC/DC's Night Prowler from Highway to Hell.
Nah. Whole Lotta Rosie from Let There be Rock
Not metal by any means
Shazbot...nanoo nanoo
Great song, but it's a blues song.
It's not as good as some of the others on here imo
The Last Baron is a non brainer here
The main reason I clicked the video. Just wanted to make sure The Last Baron wasn't absent.
Seeing White Walls made me really happy. Here are some other great choices.
Shadow Of Intent - The Tartarus Impalement.
Vektor - Recharging The Void.
Born Of Osiris - Behold.
Avenged Sevenfold - Save Me.
Slipknot - Iowa.
Astronoid - Trail Of Sulfur.
Trivium - Declaration.
Cattle Decapitation - Pacific Grim.
Carnifex - Where The Light Dies.
Spawn Of Possession - Apparition.
Atreyu - Five Vicodin Chased With A Shot Of Clarity.
Archspire - A Dark Horizontal.
Periphery - Lune (you could also do Racecar).
Beyond Creation - The Deported.
The Human Abstract - Vela, Together We Await The Storm.
I would've gone with Seasons in The Abyss for Slayer and I'll Cast a Shadow for Pantera. Especially because shadow was the last song on their last album and was written about making a lasting impression. One hell of a way for the Cowboys to ride into the sunset.
My top 5:
5. Slayer- Seasons in the Abyss
4. Opeth- Blackwater Park
3. Gojira- Global Warming
2. Vektor- Recharging the Void
1. Mastodon- The Last Baron
Liking for Vektor
Jewstein I did the same thing.
Matt Jones how not Raining Blood?
Chris Ayers Ive heard it so many times, and I think Seasons in the Abyss is a perfect album closer plus a more well written song
A7X: E X I S T
S A V E M E
Future Of Fallout Awesome song but I'd prefer Save Me
Exist was better until the instrumental half ended. The outro went on for too long.
The first half of exist was great, but after that it fell off. Especially the section with the spoken words. The music behind Neil Degrasse Tyson just goes on and on, never changes.
Ryan Bollinger To me it's just the spoken part that went on for too long. But also Save Me feels more thought-out to me with all its amazing variations and stuff...
@@stefank.8818 Save me is much better. I agree. I still dont think it's on the same level as some of the other songs on this list, they really knocked it out of the park with it this time I thought. Lots of prog
I, for some reason, really wanted “Finally free( scene nine)” to be on here.
I thought "what could be better than Raining Blood?" Answer" "Hallowed be the Name." Ok. I can accept that.
My top 5
Daddy - KoRn
Hollow - Pantera
Into the Void - Black Sabbath
Hollowed be thy Name - Maiden
Raining Blood - Slayer
Octavarium should ranked higher
Absolutely. Although I definitely prefer Finally Free and Learning To Live, those outros are just from another world, and both songs in their entirety bring a tear to my eye.
@@marius9372 I found Finally Free's ending kinda funny the first time.
Learning to Live is the best closing song DT has. Octavarium's kinda self indulgent even by DT's standards.
Jack Robb oh come on, its one of the best closers ever (in my opinion of course)
@@taffbrigade6429 yes, but I'm talking about the outro riff of the song. Epic, dramatic, out of this world... exactly what the song needed. And that Portnoy solo is one of the craziest things I've ever heard.
Pretty solid list overall. Biggest omission in my book: Dissident Aggressor
Damn, kinda hoped Perennial Quest would be on here from the masterpiece Symbolic, but guess I’m still happy with one Death song on the list
Morbid Angel - God of Emptiness... WTF?!
Iced Earth - Dante's Inferno
Exodus - Strike of the Beast
I was just listening to Dante's Inferno a couple days ago. 🤘
Where's Nickelback?
At home
In the trash where they belong
Kurt returns to us as a troll
@@kingb716 lol
In a trash bag where they belong
Damn, that's a really well made list. Everytime a new song popped up, I feel like it one-upped the last one
This list is pretty fucking awesome🤘🏻
Seasons in the Abyss
i really wish they would’ve put the album the song was from but that’s just me
C Brad Music I totally agree
Honorable mention: Evil Never Dies from the mighty Years of Decay!!
Hallowed is by far the best album closer of all time if not the best metal song of all time.
System of a downs toxicity album ends with Arto, not Aerials
Arto is a hidden track . Kinda like a bonus song . But it's not listed . It starts when Aerials end . So you are technically both right and wrong .
@@nitishpadhye4529 i blame spotify
@@hallongrotta9114 hahahahaha
What about Christ's cage by Immolation
THAT SONG! That song is a fucking closer! One of the heaviest (if not THE heavist) outros i've ever heard
@@Affocatore great song but that wouldn't make a loudwire video cause they usally do most popular songs
Metal Head yeah i know. It is sad because they do lists of most popular bands and make them even more, instead of exposing bands like Immolation that deserve more of all than they have now and that have the equal, if not more, amount of talent and epicness of bands in this video.
Nice profile picture man! Watchtower kicked so much ass!
Diary of a Madman ~Ozzy Osbourne, Marching Out ~ Yngwie Malmsteen, Krakatau ~ Yngwie Malmsteen, Invasion ~ Vinny Vincent, Holy Diver ~ Dio, To Tame A Land ~ Iron Maiden, Tierra del Fuego ~ George Lynch - Sacred Groove.
Just a few from my list.
The Call of Ktulu is the best metal album ending in the history of metal album endings, maybe ever
