I am a 72 year old grandmother with two grandaughters. My dad was a jack of all trades as they say in the state of Tennessee USA. . i love your channels .From the age of 2 i was under the car handing my dad his tools. Helping him mow the yard. He made me my own push mower when I was 5 , no gas just me. I had to stop doing all my yard work 2 years ago because of health. MY husband of 52 years says i have saved him money because i was his jack of all trades Your videos remind me of my dad. Thank you so much for these wonder videos of lawn work and fixing things.
My dad was an engineer at Maytag for almost 31 years, I loved helping him repairing things and making things out of junk, shop vac out of a metal popcorn canister.😆👍 My husband was the same, we would work on projects. OMG, I HEAR HIM ALL THE TIME WHEN I GO IN THE GARAGE, PUT MY TOOLS AWAY AND CLEAN THIS CRAP UP, he passed away three years ago and I'm still catching hell!!! 😆😁👍❤ I love my sewing machine and my power tools. I go to UA-cam all the time about how to fix things, thanks for doing this new chanel.
Hey Sean, Steve here from the States. It's wild - using different words to describe the same part. When you started saying "carby," I thought you were just having fun being silly calling it that, to then find out you switched to a carby cleaner and it was called that on the can. I laughed in disbelief! We call them "carburetors" or simply "carbs." Just wanted to share that with you. Keep on the good work! Cheers! 🍻
Brilliant. Nothing like restoring something to work like it did brand new. Instant satisfaction! The only thing I do differently is put armor all on the black plastic bits before putting it away for the winter. An old timer taught me that at a golf course shop. I don't know if it preserves the plastic longer but it looks good. Lol. Great work.
Obviously power yard tools are built differently there than in America. But the same engine ideas, just rearranged in different formats. Nice to see them. Thumbs Up!
We call 'em a basket case on this side of the world, all taken apart like that. I think that air filter will get plenty of oil from carby spit-back soon enough. I enjoy watching your videos Mr. Sean.
I took delivery of a new blower vac today, a Solo 442 on clearance. Apparently has Masport dealer service back up I was told. I've successfully transferred decals from one mower to another by using a hairdryer and razor blade to peel off. I clean the surface to put it down with rubbing alcohol. That red replacement cover looks better than the original one.
Even if I don't know what I'm doing, it's amazing what I can learn and do just by taking things apart and carefully keeping the assortment of parts secure while I explore and sometimes fix.
Very satisfying to watch. Thank you for doing these video's Shaun. I learned a lot. I love watching video's that I can learn from. I don't ever want to stop learning.
Hi Sean I've just subscribed to your new channel AR after seeing the Info you gave on your Gardening channel . Looking forward to seeing what you can restore especially the old Push Mower, I used to have one, which was a far superior cut than my electric mower. However here in the UK a push mower gets hard to manage with our climate being lots of rain & damp weather, good luck with your new channel AR, ❤️👍🏼
A very well-done restoration, Sean. I did like the fact that you didn't mess with anything that worked properly -- that saved time and possible headaches.
I always air blow debris before using Solvent. Some solvents will remove the instructions printed on Decals. Those lines will push through the grommet and into the tank to use up excess length. Suction often has a filter inside the tank on the end of the Fuel line.
Great new channel man! As long as you're in that area, pull the muffler and clean the exhaust screen (if equipped). You can also check the piston/cylinder for scoring through the exhaust port.
Very nice. I'm not mechanical at all. It probably would have ended up at them bottom of the river if I was expected to repair it..lol. good job. Runs like new.
Sean, regards oil in filter, I decided to oil the foam element in my line trimmer even though I hadn't before and it ran fine and started easily. Didn't hinder it at all. Even my first line trimmer, a Ryobi from years ago instructed you to squeeze oil through the filter after cleaning it out.
That blower actually looks way better with the orange pull start on than it would have done with the black one. Have you looked to see if the badge on the old part is a vynal sticker that can be transfered across?. If it can, it would add the finishing touch.
I used to watch my Dad fix up things on his workbench. One of my favorite things to do. He died in 2010 at 92 and videos like this remind me of him. Are you going to sell the blower or add it to your collection?
Thanks for sharing Peggy! All we can ask for is a long and fullfilled life, surrounded by our loved ones 😊 I plan to keep this one as a back up for my mowing business
I was going to say, "You're off to a great start!" ( get it, you got the leaf blower to start..😉) but that was dangerously close to being a pun, so I backed away and went with 'Best Wishes '. Better safe than sorry, when it comes to puns. I'm very happy for you, though. The launch of your new channel was great. You're just that guy that everybody likes to hang out with.
G'day mate good save, those degreaser cans are good and cheap but you can use brake cleaner as well. I'm not nit picking but I would have pulled the carb to pieces and made sure that the jets aren't blocked and diaphragm is in good condition, same as the spark plug I would have diced it and put a clean one in. The cleaning ect. , was good and it's like new and Victa is a good make. Take care John
if you ever find an old victa four star or 506 ambassador from the 60's somehow let me know.. havent seen one since childhood but definitely a victa classic
Grouse work Sean mate i also have the blue version of that leaf blower etc mine might have a faulty carb but yeah not hard to fix it by simply replacing it etc.
Congrats on the new channel, Sean. I have to tell you though, a pressure washer in your [near] future wouldn't be a bad thing. That brake cleaner is nasty stuff - not to mention a bit pricey!
Nice camerawork too. Really get the lence in there. Easy to set it up too far away. I have come to see Andrew Camaratas channel as the goldstandard for this type of content. But watch out, you may get lost for hours over there :-) Anyways, nice job, keep it up!
Nice! So, comparing the price of the broken blower, replacement part, and time and materials spent cleaning and repairing, was this a worthwhile restoration? I think so if I can get a blower to use around the yard!
Gday mate, i reckon it was! I probably spent around $30 in total. These retail for a few hundred dollars. In my experience, as long as a 2 stroke engine has the right fuel in it, it will never die, so this one will be here for the long haul!
Good stuff 👍 Is that manual cylinder mower a Webb? I’ve got a more recent one, a 12” Qualcast. Needs a sharpen but works pretty well and stripes ok considering how light it is. Btw, you can just burn off the carbon buildup on spark plugs. MAP torch is great for it but a gas burner will do.
You could have used a dremel, or cutoff disc, or metal hacksaw to cut a slot into the head of bolt so you could use the flat blade screwdriver instead of a socket.
I’m from USA are victa mower decks cast aluminum or metal? I have old lawnboy 4-square mower deck cast aluminum commercial that is 2 stroke that resembles this but standard push
Also good with degreaser washing with high pressure hose or normal hose after as long as everything is blocked off . Done it with a fair few mowers and blowers . Good stuff though would be good to see more mowers like how junkyarddog87 has done in the past if haven’t checked him out he’s a master at mowers
I figured that's the logic behind it, but when you take the filthy foam filter off of one, I've always found the intake is immaculate and not a spec of dust

Hi Sean

Good video.

Haha, true that 🍻

In my opinion it WAS a bloody Rolls Royce restoration! Thanks again Sean!
Thank you :)
I am literally so happy right now. My two favorite things to watch on YT are lawn care and restorations. Now you get to be my favorite in both!!
You're the best!
This channel was such a good idea. I love everything about this.

Gday Steve! I have definitely learned of a few different regional dialects since becoming a UA-camr haha
@@theaustralianrestorer6211 LOL I am from SoCal. I instantly interpreted "carby" as "carburetor", and I am far from mechanical.
A real push mower! I use to mow the lawn with one of them when I was a kid for my Mum. Well done on the fix.
I forgot Ozzies swore!
Oh there was no swearing in this video by an Aussie standard haha

Love your song, waltzing matilda. wow you are the craftsman, handy to have around!!!
Great repair, clean up and restoration, on the blower Sean. Enjoyed that. Your son looked like he enjoyed too. See you later on Blade Mate 😀👍

Worth the loss. It has a Victa badge on the spout.
