Wow, I can feel the intensity behind every note! I always felt creeped out by JENOVA, which the original theme only amplified. But as I listened to your piano rendition through that original lens, the fear factor ended up overtaking the creep factor-only to pop in ahead briefly around the 2:00 mark. It was awesome to listen to several times on repeat! 😄
Yay Kara, been missing your playing and within a few momens of hearing this I was transported back to 7 and all the hours I spent controlling that Cloud. Thank you so very much. Keep on rocking that piano :)
Well you'll be able to create your own memories and nostalgia with the remake :) I am definitely interested in spending plenty more hours playing it hehe. It'll be interesting to hear you play these pieces again after you've played and really experienced every emotion from the characters and the general feel of the atmosphere that you'll be transported to.
Wow, so good. Very clean performance!! "I've gotten to thinking I need a wider range of game covers besides Final Fantasy." >> Well, you can finish doing all the FF PC books first, haha!
Thank you Jeremy! And yes you're like me, you love Uematsu so much that it's hard to do anything different! I have a feeling it won't be long before I'm back at it XD
I see that 6 people liked your comment, then Chrono Cross it is! I have a pretty arrangement of Time's Scar that I should post soon. I always liked the theme at the end with the crystals (ah it's been too long since I played the game), but I don't know the name of it!
Sweeeet!!! Looking forward to you playing some Chrono Cross covers. It also been a long time since I played Chrono Cross as well but if I remember correctly the ending songs are either: Life ~ A Faraway Promise or Radical Dreamers. I could be wrong but someone in the world will probably correct me lol
Well, Time's Scar is tremendous, and I've never heard a proper piano arrangement yet :) Regarding Life Faraway Promise (or Radical Dremers), I think it would be too plain without a good arrangement for a piano version, but if done nicely, that would be a total killer :o Keep up the good work, this is amazing !
Thank you for this link, I had never watched Kyle Landry's performance. His arrangement sounds almost like the one I have, although he usually adds a little bit of his own stuff. So cool, although I wish his recordings were better quality hahaa :)
YASSS! Love it! Prob one of my favorite battle theme music in the game. My fav is the part from 2:00 to the end. I think I'll try learning your version because it's just that cool lol!
Just WOW!!!! You are incredible!! After listening to "One-Winged Angel", thought I would listen to this also. Even though I do not play this game, I have seen various pianists attack this music. I must say you have done a fine job and the best I have seen! I love the info you provided.....that you thought it seemed like a "nightmare" at first, but how it eased up as you played. GREAT work and your practice sure paid off here!!! Again, crystal clear and beautiful work!!! ~Jackie
Thank you! I do love how this cover came out, it's one of my better ones on my channel :) I don't think it's one of Uematsu's best, but the arrangement by Hamaguchi is pretty darn cool!
I am so happy to hear such a talented musician play music that so many of are emotionally attached to. Thank you! Question: how do you choose which songs you will cover from Final Fantasy? There are so many!
You make everything seem so effortless! Incredible! As for any suggestions for you with video game music I'd have to say maybe something from Kingdom Hearts, it also has piano collections to choose from and I think you'd really enjoy some of them. Maybe look at Hollow Bastion?
Thank you! That's great, I'll check that one out. I only know a couple from Kingdom Hearts, so It'll be fun to learn something new! KH will be top on my list :)
Great playing as always! :D theme's from Skyrim, Halo, Kingdom Hearts, Assassins creed, Dragon Quest VIII, Zelda and Chrono Chross would all be nice to hear :) And if you want to continue with Final Fantasy, the piano collections of FFXV have been released a few days ago, those are great as well :)
Awesome thanks for the recommendations! I just recorded something from Ocarina of Time that I'm SO excited to show you guys. Kingdom Hearts is a definite as well as Chrono Cross. I'm gonna expand my repertoire if it's the last thing I do! :D Also can't wait to try some XV, I've been loving the music in the game!
Last week?! Congratulations! It's never too late to start. I wish you the best with your journey! Just keep playing. You'll never reach a plateau with it, you'll always feel like you're learning :)
I bet this is the most challenging one from all the covers that you've done, and wooow I gotta say you Nailed it! Although, be careful with the changes on 1:13. It's a little bit off tempo in my opinion.
Kara, you are awesomeness incarnate. I feel like if you ever had to do battle with some sort of monstrous FF boss, you could casually and dismissively wave your hand across some piano keys and it would be immediately vanquished! That or it would be pacified by your amazing skills :D By the way I love that ending! Zelda and Chrono Cross are both great starts for branching out. Beyond that, I cannot help but humbly propose you cover something from Castlevania >:) but its just one idea, I know you haven't played those games...Hmm what else, I'm trying to think of other ideas but there is a giant wasp loose in my apartment right now that I must attend to, so I will conclude this comment here XD
I've played Chrono Cross and Zelda, they were two of my favorite games! I loved the theme from Chrono Cross in his home village, one of my favorites. And I love alllllll the music from Ocarina of Time hahaha. I just recorded something from Zelda today! Soon to be posted >:) I know the music from Castlvania is good because you already told me hhehehe, I will need to put that on my list too :)Thanks Chad!!
Hi Kara, love all of your Final Fantasy covers. So high quality and your piano playing is very skilful and expressive, it's beautiful. My only suggestion would be about the camera angle. Sometimes when the camera goes to just your upper body playing it looks a little strange because we can't see your hands moving. Maybe you could move the camera up a little so we can see your hands at the same time? Otherwise I love your videos!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like it. well it's funny you say that, because during Christmas I posted a few videos of myself from behind with no shot of my face, because it was a quicker editing process (only one angle instead of 3), and I was pumping out a bunch of Christmas videos. I asked my followers how they liked the angle, and most told me they enjoyed seeing my face and expressions more lol! The problem is that I don't have much space in the room (it's about 12x12 and there are 2 6 foot grand pianos in there!), so I'm limited as to what angles I can do. I have done some other videos with most of my body in them from the side. I think as long as I don't make the primary angle my face, it's okay to have a second or two every once in while hehehe :D
Yes of course, I don't think it detracts much at all :) In fact on second thought your facial expressions add quite a lot, we can see your super-concentrated moments and moments of relief and satisfaction when you get past a hard bit into more relaxing bits, and we can tell how much skill and focus is needed to pull off such amazing performances. Don't stop making these videos they are a treat
Hm, I don't think I know that one, but I do love this part in the piece! Well, Chrono stuff and Kingdom Hearts will be up soon! And Zelda later on this afternoon :D
So I've been working through that FF7 Piano Collections book, and I wanted to see how close my playing was the how this was supposed to sound, which lead me to this video. Anyway, only difference between this video and how I was playing it was I'm playing it about 75% slower and missing half the notes. Other than that, basically the same.
Yeah! Thanks for playing one of my favourite songs from ff7. I love this song so much, that i did a cover too (a pretty bad one ) but like always you did great work. chears from germany.
I found your Instagram page first as a suggestion after following some other talented pianists and I'm so glad that I did! While I enjoy listening to classical I come to youtube so I can listen to the Final Fantasy soundtracks while studying so your playlist is a double plus for me. I finally got the FF7 Piano Collections book for myself even though it's a bit beyond my ability but I hope to someday play at least a handful of them well. Thanks for sharing your videos with us! If I might request something I'd ask you to look into "For You" from Marmalade Boy (an anime series of old). There's quite a few youtube vids of that floating around as well although I'm not sure where one could obtain the sheet music. I'd want it for myself even though I have absolutely no chance of playing it but maybe you might like it too?
Aw thank you again Rick! Have we spoken via Instagram? I recognize your name haha. I hope you enjoy the FF7 collection, I do too although my favorite is the music from IX :) I have never seen any anime to be honest. I've had people suggest Your Lie in April and one other famous one. I just wish there were more hours in a day to enjoy all of them! The hardest part sometimes is finding the sheet music for music like that, since there may not be anything "official". But I'll have to check it out some time!
I don't believe we've spoken through Instagram so that'd be pretty crazy if you recognized me from there hehe. I listen mostly to 7/8/10 soundtracks - 7 especially because I played it when it first came out. I can see definitely see why people would recommend Your Lie in April - it's a lovely short series, I'll just leave it at that : ) Marmalade Boy isn't something I would recommend watching unless you were particularly interested in that genre, but the original piano pieces that came from it were great - not many but "Kei Kun's For You" is a piece I could listen to constantly and I have. I understand, finding sheet music is definitely a pain; I only just realized that you could start ordering these books for FF via Amazon - but the soundtracks from these Japanese media are so good!
nice vid! besides Zelda and chrono's u could try kingdom hearts! I also have been studying some.pieces from Studio Ghibli; there are waltz, scherzo, valse, etc.
Hi Kara, I saw in the video description that this might be one of the last FF covers, and in a comment that you're playing FFXV. You probably listened to the battle theme from FFXV, which I think is amazing. What are your thoughts on that song? The name is Stand Your Ground. Have you ever listened to it? That would be my request :D Love your work and looking forward to more! Cheers from Brazil!
I am excited to see what other games you tackle! Can I pitch something from Silent Hill? I know it is a creepy game but you need to admit that the music is fantastic!
I have heard of the game Silent Hill but never played it, I would be too scared XD I have heard others request music from it though, so I imagine the OST is pretty good! I'll have to take a stab at it at some point :)
Dragon Quest would be my request for a game (series) outside of Final Fantasy, though Zelda is good too. Dragon Quest songs like Chateau Ladutorm & Rondo & Royal Palace Minuet. Though traditionally written for violin or a full string section, on a grand piano it could be fantastic as well. Koichi Sugiyama is the only Japanese video game composer I would place ABOVE that of Nobuo Uematsu (though Koji Kondo is fantastic too), and that's because of his formal training, greater experience, and specialization in the baroque style. For as much as I love songs like Aerith's Theme, Forever Rachel, Melodies of Life, Love Grows, Theme of Love, To Zanarkand, and Prelude (The theme of Final Fantasy), I would put almost any of the Sugiyama's castle themes up against them, in particular Chateau Ladutorm, the castle theme from the very first dragon quest game. Also, most of Sugiyama's town themes, overworld themes, and battle themes are true works of art. Oh! And I would LOVE to hear you perform a very staccato playing of Only Lonely Boy, which is typically played by lightly plucking the strings of a violin.
My brother and I used to play games together growing up, and of course Final Fantasy was one of the popular series. I watched him play several of them, and IX was the first one I completed. I'm currently playing XIV and working my way through XV too! Can't wait for the remake of VII :)
serious question: how on earth do you learn this without destroying your arms. i've started teaching myself this one, but the anteriors of my forearms get very sore after spending some time grinding quick passages like those first four measures into muscle memory. good performance for such a difficult piece, by the way. the only really noticeable flaw is the few pauses that could be smoothed out. how many takes do you need to do to get a recording like this?
4 роки тому
Start out slowly and work your way up the metronome. It's not too terrible when you get used the constant cluster fuck of thirds and argpeggios
Looking for recomendations? Kingdom Hearts, definitely! Chrono Trigger would be awesome too, I'm currently learning this: ua-cam.com/video/Rv_OD9JmP3w/v-deo.html
I'm also learning Corridors of Time! Probably one of the toughest I've done so far, because it requires a lot of memorization (which I HATE lol) and muscle memory. I should be posting it in the near future!! Good luck working on yours too!
Kara Comparetto I'm the complete opposite lol I memorize a lot of the songs I learn which makes it hard for me to learn new songs daily (lots and lots of practice)
Yeah, I'm also the exact oposite! I rely 100% on muscle memory. But in my case it's because I'm horrible when it comes to reading sheet music, and I take a LOT of time to learn new songs, so I end up memorizing everything. I started Corridors of Time about 3 weeks ago, and I'm still in the first page lmao I'm really looking forward to your upload!
Azeew I know how to read sheet music, which helps sometimes, but I cannot read at the speed I like or like Kara :) That arrangement you are working on is definitely hard lol I gave up within a few measures but that was a while back. Good luck on learning it!
Yeah, I actually feel like its absolutely above my skill level, It will take so long that I this its not even worth it. But I like the song, so I'll do it anyway xD
Just wow 😲 I listened to those piano collections every day when i was younger. Still incredible underrated. Your piano skills are from another world 💪
Wow, I can feel the intensity behind every note! I always felt creeped out by JENOVA, which the original theme only amplified. But as I listened to your piano rendition through that original lens, the fear factor ended up overtaking the creep factor-only to pop in ahead briefly around the 2:00 mark. It was awesome to listen to several times on repeat! 😄
I love the fact that this channel has so many ff7 osts playes amazingly on the piano
I tried playing J-E-N-O-V-A on my C-A-S-I-O and I S-U-C-K-E-D.
D: awww!
This is the best track from the piano collections IMO. On par with Piano Opera, in my book solidified as the be-all-end-all arrangement. Great job!
Mad props to Uematsu for the epic soundtracks and you Kara for these awesome renditions!
Yes it's going to be hard steering away from Uematsu for awhile, his music is so brilliant! It won't be long before I'm back >:)
Loved it! Definitely a unique take on J-E-N-O-V-A but really maintained the spirit of the original. A well earned thumbs up!
Thanks Zach! Yes I agree, I think this arrangement is great, I felt it really kept the intensity heard in the OST. :)
Yay Kara, been missing your playing and within a few momens of hearing this I was transported back to 7 and all the hours I spent controlling that Cloud. Thank you so very much. Keep on rocking that piano :)
I wish I had the memories and nostalgia that many of you have with this game! I'm looking forward to playing the remake :)

The best boss battle music... ever. You knew it was going down when you heard this.
Best boss music of all time. You knew shit was going down when you heard the different music. Great interpretation!
YES!! thank you!!
Kara Comparetto maybe I’ve missed it but have you done “The Decisive Battle” from FF6?
Awesome!! I would say Chrono Cross covers because I am doing those at the moment and it would definitely be nice to hear how an expert play them. :)
I see that 6 people liked your comment, then Chrono Cross it is! I have a pretty arrangement of Time's Scar that I should post soon. I always liked the theme at the end with the crystals (ah it's been too long since I played the game), but I don't know the name of it!

Keep up the good work, this is amazing !
FitzRurisk u have not heard a proper time scar arrangement? UA-cam "time scar tita kun editor". great version of time scar on piano
I love the ending of this one too! Not a single second of this arrangement is dull :)
Ahh, memories. This is SO GOOD, and I bet this is totally fun to play!
It was fun once I got the hang of it! At first I was overwhelmed but I got over it quickly and enjoyed learning this one a lot!
The Silent Hill series has very beautiful piano melodies, it would be great to hear you playing them. You're amazing! I love your channel!
yuuuuh. felt the fear in my stones on this one.
Wow, you just became my favorite channel on you tube! This music will help me get my through final prep this term.
WOW!
Such talent and very pretty, too!
Happy New Year!
This is incredible! Great job!

I have yet to see anyone cover DQVIII, sadly.
This cover is so captivating
Wonderful
You are beautiful and amazing! I hope one day I can be half as good as you! Only just started my journey into piano last week.. long road ahead!
Last week?! Congratulations! It's never too late to start. I wish you the best with your journey! Just keep playing. You'll never reach a plateau with it, you'll always feel like you're learning :)
you gotta be fuckng kidding me
hard as shit to play... perfect
good call past self. this is an incredibly difficult piece that is crazy well performed.
Damn, one of your best covers so far. Very good exercise for your left hand haha! Keep on going!
I love the left hand pattern in the beginning of this! It was a workout for sure! :P
How does this not have more views??
Wow, this is wonderfully played. Incredible job!
Thank you so much Joe!!
No problem Kara :D
very very good
You're a 1st Class Soldier, 100% Jenova cell infused with that skill
Kara is such a good player I get the vibe that she could have done an even *harder piece. Great performance. She doesn't make errors
Congratulations for reaching 1000+ SUBSCRIBERS!!!! 💙🎶🎹🖖🏾😉
I knew you would! Next stop 10k!
Let's Go!!!
Bless.xXx.!!!
Aw Richard you're so nice! Actually next stop is 2k hahahahhahaha XD I'm so excited to see where things go!
You're more than welcome and yeah aim for the top!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I bet this is the most challenging one from all the covers that you've done, and wooow I gotta say you Nailed it! Although, be careful with the changes on 1:13. It's a little bit off tempo in my opinion.
the piano is quivering with excitement
Ok, I'd like to join the official Kara piano crush fanclub
Cool lemme just get you your welcome packet and t shirt we meet every Wednesday

Ack, listening to you play is like electricity on my skin! (In the best way possible.) ^.^
Flawless!!!!! 💕💕💕💕
Hi Kara, love all of your Final Fantasy covers. So high quality and your piano playing is very skilful and expressive, it's beautiful. My only suggestion would be about the camera angle. diggin' your version. i don't know why i'm just hearing this now, but 1:27 - 1:36 reminds me of ruled by secrecy by muse
ah, and t'would be quite nice to hear you cover anything from the chrono series, otherwise secret of mana or kingdom hearts would do just fine
Hm, I don't think I know that one, but I do love this part in the piece! Well, Chrono stuff and Kingdom Hearts will be up soon! And Zelda later on this afternoon :D
well you should check it out then! it's great how the same songs played on different instruments can uncover something you hadn't heard before
So I've been working through that FF7 Piano Collections book, and I wanted to see how close my playing was the how this was supposed to sound, which lead me to this video. Anyway, only difference between this video and how I was playing it was I'm playing it about 75% slower and missing half the notes. Other than that, basically the same.
great video as always 😍😍I so love to get notifications when your Vids come out
Thank you so much Roger! Gonna post another this afternoon :D
You really do an amazing job
Yeah! Thanks for playing one of my favourite songs from ff7.
I love this song so much, that i did a cover too (a pretty bad one ) but like always you did great work. chears from germany.
Loved your cover, and the arrangement, it was different and I liked that! Cheers from New Hampshire!!
nice execution!

SO good!
Fun fact: the three times you hear this are Jenova 1, Jenova 3, and Hojo. Jenova 2 on the other hand, I don't think I have to say
You hear this in the final part of the dungeon before Jenova Synthesis too
nice vid! besides Zelda and chrono's u could try kingdom hearts! I also have been studying some.pieces from Studio Ghibli; there are waltz, scherzo, valse, etc.
Yes, I've heard of Studio Ghibli and would love to try some music from it. Your other suggestions were perfect too, thank you!!
Oh yes I like your channel nice songs of viedogames
Thank you so much!! :D
Bravo... 🤗👏👏👏
Thank you dear :)
My next cover will be Waltz di Fantastica from XV, and I LOVE Stand Your Ground, I just have to muster up enough courage to learn it hahah!
amazing
Nothing but ❤️.
Aw, asome song
Thank you so much, you're sweet! :)
I am excited to see what other games you tackle! Can I pitch something from Silent Hill? I know it is a creepy game but you need to admit that the music is fantastic!

Oh! And I would LOVE to hear you perform a very staccato playing of Only Lonely Boy, which is typically played by lightly plucking the strings of a violin.
Xenosaga has a lot of noteworthy tracks too. Xenogears also, if you're looking for suggestions.
I do have one arrangement of something from Xenogears!
Hi kara i hope you doing ok ^^, you get more subs! thats awsome! i hope you play some another final fantasy 8 again!!
Thank you so much! And hello to you too :) I will play more VIII for sure, I promise I'm not done yet!! :D
yesss
Who arranges these piano collections. I've never actually looked it up but damn they're great arrangements
love it!!!
What is your relationship with FF?
My brother and I used to play games together growing up, and of course Final Fantasy was one of the popular series. I watched him play several of them, and IX was the first one I completed. I'm currently playing XIV and working my way through XV too! Can't wait for the remake of VII :)
What about you Rafael, what is your relationship with the Square's franchise ?
nice work Kara, PLEASE MAD DANCING. IT'S A Kefka order!!!!
I want to try, maybe this summer I'll make it my project!!
I just figured out what key this song is in.
All of the keys
serious question: how on earth do you learn this without destroying your arms. i've started teaching myself this one, but the anteriors of my forearms get very sore after spending some time grinding quick passages like those first four measures into muscle memory.
good performance for such a difficult piece, by the way. the only really noticeable flaw is the few pauses that could be smoothed out. how many takes do you need to do to get a recording like this?
Start out slowly and work your way up the metronome. It's not too terrible when you get used the constant cluster fuck of thirds and argpeggios
For the reunion by FFVII AC?
Where can i get this piece?

the real bad guy of the game.
I started Corridors of Time about 3 weeks ago, and I'm still in the first page lmao
I'm really looking forward to your upload!
Azeew I know how to read sheet music, which helps sometimes, but I cannot read at the speed I like or like Kara :)
That arrangement you are working on is definitely hard lol I gave up within a few measures but that was a while back. Good luck on learning it!
Yeah, I actually feel like its absolutely above my skill level, It will take so long that I this its not even worth it. But I like the song, so I'll do it anyway xD
I love you.
Super Mario Bros. and etc.
SMB is a GREAT recommendation, I love all those classic themes :)
I know people will hate me, but you comletely ruining the tension with these slow down moments. Sorry.
More weight. Js.
