Came here for a Terakuba fix... wow the others are killers too! WTF Yayoi Ikawa, WOW!
Wow killer musicians every one. Erena is amazing as is the pianist. Hope for Jazz surviving is looking very positive as the elders pass on. kudos Ladies.
It is definitely in good hands.
Erena is nothing short of amazing!!!! Very impressive.
Not sure where she grinded her ax but it sure is sharp.
I’m a 65 year old man that started my musical journey when pretty much all the great well known jazz saxophonists were men. I’ve been listening to a lot of the fantastic younger women players and they are absolutely phenomenal no matter what instrument they play. It is so good to see these wonderful talents showing that women have no need to take second spot in any musical place. They ARE on equal footing and many times better than their male counterparts. There are so many great women artists right now it’s just such a pleasure to see them get recognition. Erena is one of them.
You are absolutely correct. Their work ethics and fine attention to detail makes their performances extraordinary. They are playing a major portant role in inspiring other women to be engaged in Jazz.
The birth of a fantastic bebop sax player. Never let it die. Saw her with Emmit Cohen and she is incredible, as are all of these ladies. Aren’t we so very lucky to be able to enjoy them.
Totally agree. I have read of spectacular feats by legends at early stages of their careers. Witnessing her do it as a baby is totally incredible.
Erena is absolutely amazing! In fact, they are ALL superb!
Absolutely gorgeous! So wonderful to hear these very talented women kickin' "Cherokee" all over the place! I love this!!! Makes me proud to be a woman 👱💪!
These Ladies were on fire. I was in charge of being quiet and don't dance. The difficulty of this song is so hard, very few men even bother playing. Please share this wonderful event. These Jazz women are the future of Jazz.
OMG DAMMMMMM THATS ALL I CAN SAY, BEAUTIFULLLLLLLL
Well bopped!
WoW 😮

CHEROKEE by Charlie Parker
Kim Clarke - Bass
Erena Terkubo - Alto Saxophone
Yayoi Ikawa - Piano
Lucianna Padmore - Drums
Annette A Aguilar - Congas
"Cherokee" was written by Ray Noble.
Yes indeed. Published in 1938 by Brunswick and standing just as strong as the first recording. A truly amazing musical piece of history that has transcended the globe and linked generations to come.
I commented, only because lots of listeners, even musicians seem to attribute the song, any song. to an artist who recorded it and I like to make sure that the songwriter is credited, too. Thank you!@@jazzcornertv
impressivew
Hey Charlie, sorry to disturb you but I think you got mail.
It is so hard to solo over Cherokee changes, but Erena just floats over the chords. Borrows a few ideas from Charlie Parker, which every breathing competent alto player has done, and comes up with a lot of original lines of her own. I love that the tenor player just laid out on this - I don’t blame her. 😂
You are absolutely right, then make the audience enjoy it, and then never to be performed exactly the same again. Definitely amazing.
