Just incredible work. Bravo. I have a few questions. I'm just starting this model and my wood deck just showed up today :). I'm using your model as a paint template so I've been studying the pictures as I think you did an amazing job at the colour representation. Did you paint the superstructure or did you keep it the original white? What did you use for the lines supporting the funnels? Did this kit come with photo etched parts or did you purchase an upgrade kit? If so which one? Again, beautiful build. Thanks!
Hello! I did paint all of the white parts with Tamiya flat white spray, including the superstructure. This kit did come with photo etched parts that I used, but I also used those that came in an aftermarket kit by Flyhawk, as well as some photo etched parts by Tom’s Modelworks. The rigging and the guy wires for the funnels is Modelkasten ultra fine rigging wire .06mm. Hope this helps!
All of the windows are 1:400 scale from either Tom’s Modelworks or the Flyhawk aftermarket kit, depending on which frames fit the model best on a given piece.
I made it out of the original center propellor from the kit. Three of the blades were cut off, then I repositioned and glued two of those blades to make the modified central propellor.
Hello! I used testors/model master leather acrylic! I should warn you that this paint color is probably too dark and not historically accurate for those handrails.
@@Interismomerdawjuve definitely true, and I based a lot of the colors here on his 1:100. However his more recent 1:72 model has a lighter color, and the digital renders by Vasilije Ristovic, which are generally considered the most historically accurate ever made, also have a lighter color.
I would say the Academy model is better overall. There are a lot of reasons for making that argument, but some of the main ones for me are the windows are much more nicely molded on the Academy, and you have the option of using brass or plastic railings. On the Revell model, plastic railings are molded onto several parts, and it would require a lot of extra cutting and sanding to remove them if you wanted to use PE. The funnels also look a bit bizarre to my eye on the Revell. That said, the Academy model certainly has its issues, the most unfortunate one being the height of the B deck walls, which gives the model an inaccurate profile. No commercial kit of the Titanic is perfect, but as someone who has built both the Revell and Academy kits, I definitely think the Academy one has more potential in becoming a museum quality replica.
Best video to date on the Titanic build. Great for reference. Wouldn't expect anything less from a Michigander.
Thank you so much for the kind words, and Go Blue:)
AWESOME!!!!! Keep up the good work.
Terrific job!!!
You actually made the middle propeller three bladed!
Looks great
Nice video .Like it very much.

les bancs sont particulièrement réussis😎
Can you tell what size of anchor chain you have used for the forecastle of your RMS Titanic?
I used the one provided in the 1:350 Minicraft kit, so it’s a little oversized

Are the extras like the window frames etc 1/350 rather than 1/400? Are the scales close enough to get away with it? Nice job.

Have you got the link to this?

Love it 💟 is that the special edition one?
Thank you! And yes, the one that was released in 2012
Where did you found 3 bladed central propeller?

@@historicalmodeler1483 Wow, nice work man. I will propably 3d print this propeller. I am buying this model in a week ^^
HI! What kind of brown did you use for the handrails and wall edge trim? For example at minute 3:10? Thank you!

@@historicalmodeler1483 are you sure? if you see jason king's models the browns are equally very dark

Is the Academy model 1/400 better than the one of Revell?
