Great Episode. It is so hard keeping van cool when temp is high 80’s and above…esp when your van is black like ours. Plenty of cool spots in the northeast. Where in the gunks right now and no AC needed. Do a van life meet up soon. We live near Woodbridge NJ…..

Baja has a lot of "IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE" sections... but that is part of it's charm... at least for us! ☀🌵 Your struggles were rewarded... with a stop at San Ignacio... 👍 These are the places few visit and/or experience... the TRUE BAJA... makes me feel like a step back into the time of the conquistadors! I will borrow a line from a Red Roof Inns commercial... WE WILL KEEP THE "LIGHT ON" 💡 DOWN HERE SOUTH OF THE BORDER AWAITING YOUR RETURN ONE DAY! 😎
I agree Lee! It's so bittersweet that we're wrapping up our Baja adventures! I think we're so lucky to be able to explore it via camper van, I'm going to miss it... I'm sure we will be back in a few years though!
Do you worry about the water being filled with bacteria along the lower coast, as San Diego is? They close the beaches for swimming in San Diego all the time.

Man, you guys should add more battery capacity! I setup a cargo trailer conversion for my mom and she lives in NC. She's using it as a temporary home while her house is under construction. I was going to deliver it and I ran the math for running the AC and decided to get her double the solar capacity to install on the property so she could run it non-stop even on cloudy days.
We lived in Japan, and the ladies would always touch my son. He has super blode hair...and they believe it is good luck. He would whisper to me, "here they come dad..." LOL
Man, Wyatt's growing like a weed. That's just too damn hot! So your AC will last 13 hours with some sun? That's good! I don't remember...how many watts of solar up top?
It’s very difficult to give a duration on how long it will last. Essential both our batteries and AC are 12v, we have 540 amp hours of battery with 680 watts of solar on the roof. But with no sun if the AC is pulling 40 amps we’ll get around 13 hours. But that’s also not accounting for any other loads etc, there’s just too many variables. We can run it longer obviously when the suns out, with solar, but the AC has to work harder cause it’s hotter and the sun is beating down on the van.
@@MathersOnTheMap Thanks for taking the time to reply, Kev. That is still a pretty good return as far as how many hours you can get with no sun, no engine, no shore,(!) even if it was 10.5-11 hours. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on our batteries. We bought 3/300w panels and a Nomadic X2 24v AC unit. I'm looking at two Epoch 460ah "heated" batteries that are "Victron-friendly" but wiring them together for 24v. We def want to be able to boondock in hot weather and at least sleep very comfortably (unit over bed like yours at the farthest rear of the roof to leave space for the panels, Maxxair just behind front seats)

Take your son to those restaurants. Take him everywhere. Your son needs to fit your lifestyle not you fitting his. He will own you.
