I've just ordered one of these and should get it in a couple of days. In the meantime I'm doing as much research as I can so I know what to expect. This video was incredibly informative and helpful, many thanks for putting it together.
Excellent review! Concise and explicit.
Appreciate it, PHV. Thanks for watching.
Just got mine today and your video was very helpful...thanks!
Awesome, glad to hear, Bill! Thanks for watching.
Excellent demo. Honestly, picked up quite a bit from your video. Great job!
Glad it was helpful, thanks for watching.
Thank you for this video. It helped me make my decision to purchase one.
Your review is very helpful for me. Thanks!
Glad to hear, Link. Appreciate your support of the channel!
Great overview, thanks!
Just bought the MPK Mini and wishing I would have seen this review before hand. Thanks for posting
Perhaps you could do a return if it hasn't been more than 30 days!
the same price
What an excellent video. Thank you. Very thorough and clear. Well done! Needed that. :::::)
Nice overview -- thank you very much.
Very helpful review thank you
Great Vid Bro, I'm thinking of buying one of these pretty soon... 👑✨👑
Great video! Thanks!
Appreciate it, thanks for watching!
Thanks good review
Great video! Helps alot!😁
Glad to hear, Braden. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the amazing vid, you showed me how to use a lot of functions i didn't have used yet! only thing is that i tried to use the 'patch' buttons on arturia's analog lab and it didn't switched through the presets
This is such a great overview. Really good job covering everything important so efficiently! Do you know how this compares with the Impact LX Mini? The Mini keys too tiny by comparison.
This is cool. because I have Studio One. I was looking for a Midi Keyboard that goes well with it.. Good Vid.
Hi there, nice review on this midi controller. Do you still use it todate? I was also looking at the novation impulse 25, but still not sure which one to get.
Nice overview video, pacing is perfect. I am using a different DAW (Cubase), but I think the principles are the same. In my Drum VST (Groove Agent SE) there are 16 pads and 8 groups. In the LX25+ it speaks of switching from Pad Map 1 to Pad Map 2 to access pads 9-16. On My MPK Mini Mk2 I simply press the Bank A/B button to perform that action.
Is there another way to switch between pads 1-8 & 9-16?
Just thinking that I may want to have chords on one pad map and some other stuff on the other pad maps. -- thanks
Thanks @@bertiespencer8446, what I was asking was how to access all 16 pads and the 8 groups. Pressing shift takes you to the next pad map, but there are only 8 pads on the controller. But thanks again for being helpful
have you tried LX25 (older ver)? The price is relatively cheaper even compared to AKAI Mini mk2 and Arturia MiniLab Mk2. I am torn between buying MiniLab, LX25, LX25+. what do you think?
Does Nektar Impact LX25 work with Ableton live?
Thank you
How do you mute a track with the pads in Presonus Studio One V3?
Thanks bro
How does key velocity feel?
I've heard some complaints that sensitivity could be too low for soft players and you have to bang the keys pretty hard, unless you turn velocity completely off, which I don't want to do.
So, I'm still in doubt among this one, Akai MPK mini mk2 and Arturia minilab mk2. I'm composing mostly soft, ambient music, so velocity sensitivity is important to me.
For me, personally, I don't have any issues with the velocity sensitivity. i think there are also 4 different sensitivities that you can choose from, as well.
I love everything I see here, but what do the keys feel like? I prefer weighted or semi-weighted keys, but I've used synth-style keys that felt really good as well. I don't like when they feel "floaty", I need them to feel like you're hitting something that creates the sound.
I would not recommend you get this keyboard, then... The keys are most definitely "floaty".
I'm on the fence between this and the Novation Launchkey 25. Mainly looking to get something to make programming drums easier and faster. How are the pads on this? Any experience with the Novation?
Ended up getting this :) like it a lot! Although I find programming drums easier with the keys. The pads are good but kinda hurt the fingers after a bit.
Glad you're happy with the purchase! Keep in mind you can always adjust the sensitivity of the pads so that you don't have to tap them as hard. It's in the manual somewhere...
Quanta awesome yeah I'll have to look into that. Thank you.
You can not adjust the sensitivity, but only the velocity curves that is software related, what is lagging, is the sensitivity, but that is the hardware, you can buy other rubber pads that are 2 times the thickness of the original once and that makes the sensitivity better but not perfect! If you want perfect pads for finger drumming, go for a Machine Mikro 3. The pads are the best there are on the market, but a little heavy on the price! about 550 euro's! Next week my Nektar Panorama T4 will arrive and the pads most be ok, but not perfect! But funtionality wise, the Nektar impact LX+ series are decent according to the sliders, knobs etc.. and DAW integration!
the pads on this are too small and stiff. honestly the mpk has the best pads but you sacrifice on keys a bit
Hi, what are differences between LX25+ and LX25 the older version? Can you put just a few words? Thank you in advance.
ia it possible to control cubasis and synth app with knobs on cucasis on ipad pro?
Hello! I got the Impact LX 25+ too! One question: to enter the menu, press "Shift" + "Patch>". And that's ok. But to exit the menu and save the changes made, which keys should I use? Thanks in advance!
I haven't had this keyboard in quite some time, I don't remember.
What software does this come with?
I wonder if you have any info about the Akai mpk midi controller and which one would you think that I should get?
This is a year later, responding for anyone new reading.
I have both and lady fingers. I like the fact that the MPK takes up less space on my desk, but it doesn't have an on/off switch. The keys are small, so if you are into playing as opposed to just hitting a key here and there, you will have issues. The integration is better with the Nektar Impact in Cubase.
I had a hard time trying to figure out how to program the MPK in Cubase, that after awhile (I got so frustrated I stopped messing with it for a couple of years) that I got the Nektar and am happier. The MPK integrates better with the MPC Essentials software, except the Q-Links don't work so you can't assign the knobs. You have to purchase MPC 2 to get the knobs assigned to the Q-Links.
If I had it to do all over again, I would've chosen the Nektar Impact LX25+. However, I do like the expansions that came with the MPK and the two VSTs Wobble and Hybrid, that I can use in Cubase. I can also figure out, how to use both midi keyboard controllers in Cubase and have the drums/pads and keys assigned to different instruments making it easier to be a bit creative when playing and they both fit on my desk.
@@TanyaOwens I just got the Nektar 25+ today and I've had the MPK mini MK2 for a while now. The mini mk2 is small compared to the 25+ and I like how big the keyboard keys are on the Nektar. The pads on the Nektar are perfectly serviceable as well. I have yet to hook up the Nektar to my Reason 11, but I'm sure it will be fine. If I had to do it over again I would get the Nektar Impact 25+ hands down. Sweetwater.com has the 25+ for 109.99 and that's $10 cheaper than the MPK mini mk2 is and it seems to be a better midi keyboard. I like the on/off switch on the 25+ and it has a Sustain pedal port just like the mk2 does. Peace!
So do i have to use software
Are 25 keys enough or would you recommend the LX49+ instead with more keys plus 9 faders? Thanks!
If it still matters to you, it all depends on how much live playing you'll be doing and how complex that live playing will be! I'm always a proponent of playing live as much as possible so I'd recommend the LX49. I merely chose the 25-key because of $.
@@quantaaudioHi mate, and which is better (key action) between LX49+ and T4?.
Is it worth the extra money to go up to the 49?
One of my midi drum pad no respond should I do the factory reset
Does it work well mapped in FL Studio / ProTools , anyone tested this? Thanks.
I have this. The pitch wheel is acting up. Its not centering properly, making the default note wavy & weird sounding. How do I disable it? Resettting to default settings doesnt work. Im about to just chuck this into the bin
Hey Man great vídeo ! , was very helpful to know somethings about this machine. U know how to use it in ableton ? I have a little doubts about it. Regards from argentina !
Haven't tried in Ableton. Don't have that DAW. Thanks for watching!
Hey can you make a video on difference between studio one 3.5 and reason 9.5 ? Pros and cons on 1.music production 2. Mixing 3. Mastering
Will try to work on that.
I've got that up...hope it's what you were looking for... ua-cam.com/video/4dvBf9gvh0w/v-deo.html
Quanta the link doesn't work 💁🏾♂️
How to do looping while making a live cover
what about using the secondary functions on the keys and the clips and scene functionality?
If you've installed the software to pre-map the Nektar to Studio One, and you still have buttons that are available, here's a quick video on how you can go about assigning functions to them, here: ua-cam.com/video/6FNQrNA0YQw/v-deo.html
I'm probably going to make an in-depth video on how to go about manually assigning MIDI controller buttons, knobs, faders, etc. within Studio One in the next week, or so. Hope this helps, in the meantime.
hi dear , i hope you are as well , i want this controller to change the VSTI's Patch . can i ask do you use the sylenth1 , refx nexus , ni massive ,...etc??? do you need to link the knobs to the vstis or they are Premapped? and can you change the patches and banks of this VST'I's? thanks
I don't use those particular VSTs, so, it'd be hard to say what the issue may be.
I think you can. I will check next time i am at studio where i have this. I have massive
My hands are disabled in a way that doen't let my fingers do chords. There are a couple other controllers that can do one button chords: the Korg Nanokey Studio has buttons to do this and Roli lightpad can do it through it's software. Can the LX25+?
Not that I'm aware of, Roy.
I just found out the Studio One Chorder tool does this with any controller... but most controllers don't have daw controls. Thus I ordered an LX25+ today.
I'm between this one and the iRig keys 25...what do you think? I'm a MacBook and Logic Pro user btw.
Not familiar with the iRig, so, can't really offer any useful thoughts on that!
Hello bro, I have just bought this keyboard. I use the studion one DAW.
The keys are usable but the record button or other button keys are not working. Have I connected it wrong or is there something that I'm missing. Please do let me know thank you
You need to download and install the integration software for Nektar with Studio One. You should log into your Nektar account and download it this way.
Wow, I didn't realize I could get this through an affiliate from you. I ended up buying it after researching on my own, lol. This video was more helpful than the manual, since you demonstrate how the controls can be used.
Something I'd read in the reviews, and have found to be true myself, is that the keys are pretty stiff. I'm not a trained piano player, so even after adjusting the sensitivity, it's still hard to have fine control over my playing. Also my wrists get pretty unhappy with me after a while. Is that something I just need to get used to or do the keys loosen up after a while?
Hey, Elfn. The keys, in my opinion, are actually quite loose compared to a real piano. Which has keys that are actually weighted. Not sure that they (the Nektar's keys) will loosen up after a while, I would perhaps continue to play around with the sensitivity settings.
Also, if you are having issues with your wrists becoming stiff/sore after playing, this is more likely due to the height of the keyboard on your desk, rather than the pressure required to play the keys. To avoid issues with wrist soreness, try to place the keyboard at a level that allows your forearms to be parallel with the floor.
If you're unable to adjust the keyboard height, an alternative would be to sit on a cushion/pillow, as you play. That is, if the keyboard is too high!
I can't remember the last time I touched a real piano, so I don't have a comparison there. However, I think I have some options regarding height adjustment, so I'll give that a try.
Thanks!
@@ElfInflicted I just got it and I'm returning it the keys are to hard to press down.. Did you end up getting something different ?
@@FTarquin I didn't return it, but I wish I had. I used it for a couple of days for one project and haven't used it since because my wrists hurt from playing it.
@@ElfInflicted The new M-audio are weighted and are horrible... But I played a old one.. Called the M-audio keystaion 2.. it was perfect..
Buenas, como va? Sabes como puedo conectar mi controlador Nektar IMPACT LX25 con mi placa de audio Beringher Uphoria UM-2 ? MI problema es que esta última no tiene entrada USB
Graciasssss
Hi friend, are you tried Nektar T4/6?. Is that key feel "floaty"?... Thanks!.
No, I haven't tried that model.
Comparison video nektar lx25 vs m-audio oxygen 25 midi controller
its not recognized by my mac, is there a driver? I can't find on on nektar website
The keyboard and pads should work immediately upon connecting, if it's not, I'm not sure what to tell you to do to troubleshoot as I'm not a mac user. There is software on the website that you can download to map all of the other controls to your DAW. If you continue to have problems, I'd contact Nektar support, directly.
Mapping is very good on video!
..but really unuseful on multitrack,
because of when you change plugin -> knobs are always in certain positions -> it will drop off your plugins settings every time
Think about it )
We really need unlimited knobs with led feedback which keep on watching for changed tracks or vsts
And What device does that?
@@yorganyog basically both Minilab Mk2 and MPK Mini Mk3.
This would be an amazing mix of both those controllers, but the knobs are a huge dealbreaker, at least for me.
Can the rotativ controller be assigned to whatever I want ?
I'm not familiar with this controller so I can't really say.
Thanks ??????can you sample slice with Nektar and i heard the keys diident feel good while plaing it is that true????
You would need some sort of 3rd party application to sample slice. The Nektar and it's included software do not provide this natively.
As far as the keys, that's kind of subjective. If you are used to playing a 'real' piano with weighted action, then these will probably feel like crap. If you are used to just playing synthesizers, I think they are very reasonable. I'm very picky about my keys, and I've been happy with the quality, for the price.
Actually you can. The bitwig software included is very powerful for a limited version. Although you only have "8 tracks ", the drum machine sampler ( which counts as one track) has seperste outs and will let you map sounds across several octaves. Since bitwig is very similar to Ableton, it does a great job of slicing samples. You can either map to drim machine or sampler with a click. A boom bap producee could use this alone to make beats
Does it have note repeat ? if so im buying this!!
There is no note repeat.
Hey, Does this work with Music Maker?
Haven't used Music Maker in over a decade, not sure what it's capabilities/specs are...
Can this fit into a backpack?
Well described, thinking about picking one up, but would it work on FL Studio?
Yes, they do have integration software for FL. ua-cam.com/video/NboXsOwT77M/v-deo.html
Hello good night, I wanted to ask you, if you could make a video of how to connect the keyboard to GarageBand ?. Because I bought the same keyboard and I can not connect it to my mac. I hope you are well.
Hello, Nico. I actually am on a PC and don't use Garageband, so, it'd not be possible for me to create that tutorial. Here is a link to Akai's instruction on how to do so, however: www.akaipro.com/support/kb/articles/akai-pro-mpk-mini-mkii---complete-setup-with-garageband
Hello, thank you very much for your answer and for the link. I'll see if it's possible to solve it. Thanks for your time. Good luck.
On FL Studio when I use the drums I can’t find an option for an 8 pad, just 16, even after sequencing the 8, now it automatically plays 2 drums per pad. Idc how to fix that :(

Yes please answer this as I'm having the same issue

Hi im interested in this keyboard could you make a video of how it works in reason?
Especially the track forward and back in the rack and mixer controls
this keyboard is more beautiful than most of girls.

Can anybody tell me if this one works fine with ipad pro ?? I saw it on Sam Ash and looks very good, solid. But i did not get it couse im not sure if works or not with ipad.
Please someone let me know, thanks
Jorge O. Yes it does! It is class compliant: meaning it works right out of the box. No need to install any software.
@@Prexsplay Does it come with lightning cable for iPad / iPhone?
Joe Seven i don’t think so
i think that you have to buy it separately
How is it now?
How the hell does this work with GarageBand? I adjust the POTS band then the sound disappears and I can’t get it back until I delete the “instrument” on garage band.
How do I assign the parameter knobs to control cutoff etc.?
This is all going to be different depending on which DAW, VSTs you are using...
Quanta . I got it figured. Last touched then right click over the parameter you want.
Cannot get the pads to stay on a different sound than the keys though...
this thing comes with BitWig studio, a massively underrated daw...and like the only decent one with a linux version
Full version or just lite?
Does this work with ableton ? to use all this function..lfo, cutoff...or i have to map it?
I don't use Ableton, so, I'm not sure of the details on that. On the Nektar website, they give no mention of custom integration files for Ableton, that I've seen. Doesn't mean that they can't be mapped manually, however.
Does this has aftertouch keys and pads ??????
Yes it has.
This seems to be very helpfull, but I'm looking for the DAW to make music on live using loops and these things. I'm using it with FL Studio, but I think that this MIDI can only help on record samples (that is a very good point, but it's not what i'm looking for). If someone can help me, i will be very gratefull 🤧🎶
Does this plug directly into iPhone? Does it need an adapter?
You'd need an adapter.
Get a USB B to Lightning adapter. And I power it up on Low Power Mode so as not to drain my iphone 13’s battery right away. 😄
What's name of program? Thanks
It's Studio One by Presonus.
Great review, but you forgot the actual keyboard!
I'm sorry, but I really don't get what this comment means. Can someone explain this?

It does
Dose this work with fl studio pls let me know
Yes. FL Studio has MIDI setup files for the LX25+
how can install on Ableton lite ?
Does it work without fl studio?
Yes, it does.
Are the keys weighted?
No, they're synth-action.
Will this work with Ableton??
The Nektar website does not list Ableton as a DAW with integration software available (that will automatically map controls), so you'd need to manually map everything.

The Nektar keyboard makes no sound on it's own, so yes, you'll have to get software.

I would get the Akai MPK mini, if portability, a built-in arpeggiator, and having note-repeat are critical to you. Otherwise, I"d get the Nektar.
