I would add new oil to lube rubber ring and pre fill filter with oil. And like someone else said...make sure the old rubber seal came off with old filter.
The dipstick is what you use to check the oil level in the engine. They are usually marked with a yellow handle on most newer cars. You can pull it out and check the gauge at the bottom to determine if you need to add oil or if it is in the safe range. Good luck with your Kia Soul!
I just changed the oil in my wife's 2014 Kia Soul. For some reason, the oil drain plug is not under the cover that says "Oil Plug". It was actually pointing toward the back of the car and drained through the opening that is seen to the rear of the cover. It's as if the oil tank was installed backwards. Any ideas what the heck that's all about?
In 2014, Kia put 2 different engines in the Soul. I have the 1.6l. The other was a 2.0l. If that is what you have, that might explain the difference. I am not familiar with what the oil pan on the 2.0l looks like.
Great video! Changing my girlfriend's oil today and using this to make it seem like I am better with cars than I actually am haha
LOL. Hope it helps
Such a luxury of having your own grease pit
Yes, it was definitely a factor when we were considering buying this house.

Very thorough! Thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
What is the dipstick? I’m gonna buy a Kia Soul as my first car!
Also this helped so much!

Did you say 1qt was added a Kia takes 1.6l engine
takes 3.8 qt.
Nope. I stated that there was a little more than 1qt left in the jug. I could have stated more clearly. Thanks for clarifying.
If I ever buy a house im makin sure its got a grease pit
it is definitely a plus if you can.
