I am planning on adding the BBQ guru to my Vertical (same as yours).. The bulkhead adapter has to be inserted in a 1-3/8" hole. just below or at the fire basket. It protrudes through the wall of the fire box about 1/2". I planning on putting it on the back of the box. any recommendation on best placement for optimal air flow? I also may completely close of the vent area with a removable 1/8" steel plate. Your thoughts?
About 85% successful. What I've learned is that the metal in this smoker is quite thin and that makes it difficult to keep a constant temp without a lot of attention. I'm in the process of moving to NY where I will either buy a stupid priced smoker or make my own. But I can say that this smoker does work very well if you can devote the time while it's operating. More vids to come and thanks for the comment!
@@SteeveeDan Not lava rocks, LavaLock, it's a sealant. You actually used LavaLock to seal the seams in your other DynaGlo Vertical Offset video. Do you think that would be sufficient instead of buying the cord/felt material?
@@Gemini-Maybe Ahhh, read too fast! That's an interesting idea. I may just try that on the Signature Series firebox door but not sure how well it will work, that particular area may get too hot but still, worth a try as it would be much easier. Thanks for the comment!
I messed up and read the directions and it said put 5 pounds of charcoal in there and I couldn’t get the heat below 350 for some reason. I may have used more than 5 pounds tho.

Love your videos beautiful place you have also thanks for the video I’m going to try it.
It worked out good but I don't use that smoker much anymore since I bought their signature series. Best luck!
@@SteeveeDan yes I just ordered the signature series was wondering if you did any videos on that.
@@jamesarnold5100 Yes, I have a few of the Sig series on my channel.
The door lifts off easily I will take the door off to do this modification. Thanks for the tips.
Very welcome and hope it helps!

Just saw this post, so sorry! I'll need to look into that, I'm not familiar with it.
Looks like an old license plate would do to replace that door, easy to get piece of metal.
Nice video
Are you going to add wheels?
I was thinking of putting wheels on it and using half a door hinge as an axle carrier. Future vid when I get a set of wheels. Thanks for the comment!
Good Job, In retrospect, were you successful in achieving the intended goal?

can I just use lava lock? in that same area?
I'm not sure but I really can't see a benefit of the rocks in a smoker.
Did you ever use the lava lock Jesus
@@reubenmtz No sir, haven't tried them yet.

I think you voided your warranty! LOL
O ya, that's long gone!
I find it hard to get the temperature to stay above 300 for a decent amoung of time... I believe the firebox is just too small for the size smoker.
Honestly, I've never tried to get the temps that high. I only use mine for meat and most meats are good between 180 and 240.
If I'm smoking I don't want my temp that high. I rarely ever go over 200 degrees
If you're smoking..225 man
