To apply stucco over blocks, bricks, ugly stucco, or Terra Cotta, this stucco system works beautifully, all you have to do is hire a skilled plasterer.
What does Quikrete make besides this product? www.quikrete.com/.
We first pressure-washed these brick and block walls, then applied a bonding agent directly to the walls using either Quikrete or Weld-Creat bonding agents.
Quikrete is sold at every hardware store in the country. Then, Plastered away.
We applied Quikrete’s stucco to these brick and block retaining walls in just a few hours; it takes about an hour or so to set, depending on the temperature.
With Quikrete’s Greencore, you or we can apply what’s known as a steel trowel or a smooth stucco finish over any block or brick wall.
Why? That’s an excellent question; the sand is very fine, so it can be troweled down much smoother than most one-coat bags with heavy stucco sands.

I will be sleeping when this comes on, Oldman rise early rest early, the guy I worked with inside we use fine sand and lime, outside we also use lime and sand but larger grained. We even lay brick using large amounts of sand and lime , 20 sand 10 lime 1 cement mason cement , there was a pit 70 mile or so away and we would go get the sand here sometimes it had a red color to it and a larger agrigate. Oldman even make us grind that sand up to powder and he would tint the finish coat. Have a good one

Morning H Max, I will point this out to my son jason, this finish was a smooth as stucco can get, however it was not true and plumb, meaning if a ten foot rod was placed on it, there would be variations.
Anyone who tell's me they want a wall that is perfect so that no daylight shows thought a ten foot rod, I say hire another, or double my cost.
Note the bench I was sitting on the right inner corner, I didn't realize it at first but it shows in the picture that area held a lot of water, I added mud to fill it, but we were not there to give Perfection, only a smooth consistent wall texture.😉

I bought 20 bags of quickcrete from Home Depot last month and had them load it on my truck, I told them before I bought it they’d have to load it, they said sure.......it was like pulling teeth getting a guy up front to load it, they were super lazy.

    • @TrogdorBurnin8or
      @TrogdorBurnin8or 3 роки тому

They make concrete bags as large as feasible in order to save you ten cents on the packaging. The tradeoff is that you provide the labor, and the labor takes a *lot* of workplace injuries. For 20 bags? I'd rather have a tooth pulled, from a pain perspective. These guys are forbidden from tips, are paid nearly minimum wage, and often don't get health insurance.
If customers demand that they start stocking 20lb or 40lb bags instead of 60-80-94lb, loading gets a lot less painful. In the meantime, either covertly tip anybody that's willing to lift these generously, or hire your own laborer. Plenty of people do.

Morning Shane dude, I know the feeling from many years back.
I was at a plastering material yards about 15 years ago in Marine county. I went to the rear to have it loaded, was waiting for the guy to load it when he said, sorry, man, you have to load it.
Note: In many plastering yards, they won't let us load because if we pull a disk or something similar, they can be held responsible.🤔 Getting back to the guy at the Marin plastering yard I asked why. I believe he was sincere when he said, man, I'm too old and beat up to load them for you, plus I have herniated disks. I believed him truly, so was not the least bothered to load the bags myself, then said to him, take it, easy brother.😉

Looking around properties hat did have rendered/stucco areas these are relatively untouched where everything else is gone.

Kirk, (and J.) something like 15 years ago, I used an ultralite large tile format mortar on a a new wall, when I mixed too much. It literally spread like whipped butter (sanded whipped butter). It was white, waterproof, made the perfect texture, ws literally 2/3 the weight, cured hard, etc, etc. It's also lasted years of hard use in a bathroom too. Maybe this is similar? Dear Kirk,
Thank you for your videos! I am working on an 1898 adobe house here in southwest NM.
Do you have any videos that address plastering over adobe bricks?
The previous owner used an elastomeric paint over the adobe bricks with no stucco in between. The wall has quite a bit of damage because, I believe, moisture has been trapped between the adobe and the paint. I am not sure how to proceed, and since I haven't been able to find a video of yours on plastering over adobe, I think you might not see too many adobe houses in the Bay Area.
Again, thank you for your generous spirit. I have learned so much from you!

Awesome video as usual, señor! Material looks really nice. So if I wanted a super smooth finish on a heavy skip trowel, painted exterior surface, would I have to use weldcrete or could I use Lanco bonding agent before two coats of this greencore?

Morning Executive painter dude, excellent question. I prefer Weldcret as it's been for sale at all professional plastering yards for over 40 years, plus I'm not familiar with Lanco bonding agents.
A big FYI, if you're going over walls, one needs only apply a skim coat, not both a scratch and brown coat.
This means if you process the skill to apply enough to trowel on in one pass, no need to double back, I didn't double up in this video, and I went over one of the heavest finishes known.😉

Good evening Troy Owen Hladio. You are up and coming and soon will be the man to call for plastering.😉
With me, I just place my towels into my toolbox on the truck.
I sometimes just use a rag in the winter months when it damp and or put oil on them, but mostly if they rust, I rub them on the sidewalk or curb.
You might say, damn, Ol Kirk doest care about his trowels, but I feel it's the skill level, not the trowel, so sorry to say, I don't treat them too well.
The fact is I buy carbon or stainless steel trowels. They rarely rust. Have I dropped a new trowel from three to five levels high off scaffolding? Sure, a couple of times, where I look at someone, and we both just say, "damn," I'll bet that trowel is now bent like a dog's hind legs.

Morning Craig dude, excellent question. Before steel troweling in this video, I did a few sand finishes.
While on the job, I tried it for steel troweling and found it worked better than other existing products now on the market, so yes, it can be floated to bring out the sand or applied over metal lath and applied in two coats, then skip trowling with the same product.
It's a new modern day plaster, in my opinion.

    • @StuccoPlastering
      @StuccoPlastering  3 роки тому +1

Good evening JML, yes, for cement mesh-covered foam trim, you can as it is similar to a finish coat.😉Which means it has fine sand in it. whereas Rapid Set Stucco also sold at HD has heavy sand, actually one can apply that too but it is more difficult.
FYI, most foam molding stucco trim's have fiberglass mesh over the styrofoam and a cementitious cement called Poly Bond over the mesh.
This gives extra strength to the foam, while the Poly Bond holds the fiberglass mesh on.

I am becoming a weekend warrior in my old age and have a few projects that would be great for this product however, it is not available anywhere outside of Florida or California. My question is do you know of anything like it that would be widely available along the NJ, PA, DE east coast? I have some ugly 100 year old notched bricks in a small area around my garage that are uneven and repaired and I want to cover them with a smooth stucco coat but, I don't want to get into screening and multiple coats because only have about a 1/2 inch up to the trim so I need to hit it with some Weldcret and put around 1/8 inch of stucco and hope it don't fall off. lol

Greetings Anna Darling, yes, however, I recommend if you're going to HD anyway's to buy the "Rapid Set Stucco" as it's heavier sand and much stronger for your needs. 😉
Your bonding agent needs to be brushed on a super clean foundation, then spread out the "Rapid set Stucco," note, don't mix more than 3 to 5 minutes as like all the same day materials. If you do, the over mixing will compromise the strength.

This feature is miles ahead of any plastering forum. 🥳

Cool. Tomorrow I am doing stucco on a house that had brick fascia tore off by Hurricane Ian. I am using this stucco.

Hi Gerry, it's good quality stuff from Quikrete. They wrote the book on stucco and concrete.

@@StuccoPlastering Thanks for the definition of 'stucco stoppers.' I knew there had to be some term in my invoice for the client for containing stucco within the intended parmeters -- or whatever. Also thanx for affirming in an earlier video that when I was mixing thin set with mortar in Colorado to increase adhesion -- I wasn't wacko. You the man.
