Hi guys, I've been watching your videos for a while now and have only just seen this one! It has to be by far the best one I've seen, thank you so much 🙂. I started shooting 63 years ago at 7yrs old with air rifles, shotguns at 14. I only started hunting with rifles two years ago and they were black powder ones back then. I bought my first centre fire only three years ago, I feel such a fool now, as I wish I'd started earlier. Now I'm stuggling to find good places I can walk into as these 70 year old legs can't do the distance they used to. So, looking for DOC blocks or private areas I can quad into is now high on my list. But videos like this inspire me to carry on, thanks again guys.
You guys have aced it again, in the most magical place in NZ That was an awesome video for so many reasons, no wonder Stewart Island is so addictive Also one of the few places you can hunt, fish, and dive, and actually put on weight over the time you spend there
Awesome video, stunning scenery, love the drone footage - incredible! Lived on the Island about 42 years ago and remember the horrendous crossings on the old Foveaux ferry, big diesel generators, the coal range and Butterfields Beach where I use to play across from our house at Halfmoon Bay. Cheers guys!
Far out lads this has probably got to be your best video yet. Video quality and editing is bloody top notch, that sunrise up Anglem was something special.
My mate and I lived in our fly-camp on this very beach for two weeks of very bad weather during April 1980. Like you guys, we speared fish on the reef (terakihi), caught fish on hand lines from the rocks, and gathered paua . I shot the only whitetail for the trip during a rare sunny spell one afternoon, while bush-hunting on Garden Point. I had my poison gear there and managed to collect about 20 possum skins. No hut there in those days. Great living on fish, venison, and paua every day. Superb photography guys, especially the underwater shots. Well done.
Great shot deer on the beach. Years ago we ran down a wild sheep in the Ruggedy Flats that hadn't been shorn in years and cooked it up. It seemed a huge waste to leave the fleece behind.
Great video, outstanding photography. We had the yanky River block back in 1998.shot a few deer but the best part of the trip was the seafood and the birdlife. Magic spot.
Great video lads one of my most favourite places in the world….. my folks had a Crib on Stewart Island and I hunted there quite a few times with my Cuz and know how tough it can be in the bush. The cemetery and dump were the best places LOL Great camera work and commentary
Epic mission, glad you actually got a view up on Anglem in the end, it's a pretty special spot! And good job keeping the attitude up after some long days in the bush
Great editing, great filming and really well put together. Thanks for sharing. I was lucky enough to be in the same location almost exactly 2 yrs before your trip. You've captured this far better than any of our footage did though !
The backstraps on whitetails is magical. What's even better is the psoas muscle up against the spine in abdominal cavity. It's small, unless you kill a very big deer, but it's worth saving.
Nice boys!!! So close but a whole world away. I live 30kms north from here in big ol Bluff and have done the track before but never taken my dive gear, how'd you find hiking with all your gear? How heavy were your packs, new to the channel and can't wait to see more, my kinda videos🤙🤙🤙
We had most of our gear dropped off at the hut, would've been a bloody heavy haul otherwise! Don't think we would've been able to manage it with the dive belts hahah. Cheers mate
lol we had exactly the same scenario play out waiting for the Mana to pick us up Deer popped out on beach Alex sprints back up to hut and grabs rifle pretending nothings happening then BANG
Fuel to and from bluff ~ $100pp Ferry to and from Oban ~$100pp Water taxi to and from block ~$400pp Block booking $30 Then the usual food costs on top of that, hope that helps 😄

Great shot deer on the beach. Years ago we ran down a wild sheep in the Ruggedy Flats that hadn't been shorn in years and cooked it up. It seemed a huge waste to leave the fleece behind.
Haha no way that’s pretty cool, wonder if there’s still any wild sheep roaming the island
Absolutely epic video thanks team 💯😎👌

Great video, outstanding photography. We had the yanky River block back in 1998.shot a few deer but the best part of the trip was the seafood and the birdlife. Magic spot.

Great video guy those things in the sea you saw with the drown could have been lions mane jellyfish they can be massive upto 120 foot long
Far out! If only we'd been able to get closer!
Best looking trip, didnt get a extra deer or two just dont matter with a trip like that,,
Didn't look like the lads were short on food, the mean cook ups each day. Now that's hunting
Eating well is a tradition down there!
The backstraps on whitetails is magical. What's even better is the psoas muscle up against the spine in abdominal cavity. It's small, unless you kill a very big deer, but it's worth saving.
Definitely! We call them the fillets, nice to know their real name thanks! Hands down one of the best cuts on a deer 🤤

Epic trip! One of those trips where you actually put weight on? Fantastic camera work and editing skill too.
Hahah yeah I'd say so, definitely eat well down there 😂
lol we had exactly the same scenario play out waiting for the Mana to pick us up Deer popped out on beach Alex sprints back up to hut and grabs rifle pretending nothings happening then BANG

Fuel to and from bluff ~ $100pp
Ferry to and from Oban ~$100pp
Water taxi to and from block ~$400pp
Block booking $30
Then the usual food costs on top of that, hope that helps 😄

Sad to see Paua cooked like that! Sack that cook, otherwise a great time I'm sure.
Hahaha fair comment, I've had it since then cooked (and tenderized) properly... a much more enjoyable meal!
sun fish by the looks
That would be cool! I wish we'd been able to get the drone in a bit closer to find out!
