- Home Office minister Laura Farris has told Sky News Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is a "malign force" but the government does not want to disrupt lines of communications with Iran by declaring it a terrorist organisation.
Ms Farris said there was something "positive about having face-to-face diplomatic relations" with Tehran.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer and a number of Tory former cabinet ministers have called for the proscription of the IRGC.
Israel says it will respond to Saturday's attack by Iran, which Tehran launched in retaliation for an Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus.

They know the USs and UKs defence capabilities, that’s why they informed them before they fired them, they were anticipating they would be intercepted and stopped. It was a show of force, nothing more, a response to the illegal embassy bombing.

Why are all the leaders of the major UK parties so weak? The conflict initiated when Israel bombed Iran’s embassy, an act that could be seen as a declaration of war. Despite the issue being raised to the UN, the attack was not condemned, due to vetoes from the US, Britain and France. Left with no other options, Iran defended itself with a carefully measured retaliation targeting only military sites, and even provided advance warning to Israel and the US. Iran’s response was a clear message urging Israel to back off. However, it seems Israel’s leaders are intent on escalating tensions to war-a stance they have long maintained by consistently provoking Iran. Unfortunately, it appears that whatever Israel desires-from escalation to direct conflict-it receives unwavering support from America, Britain, and many other nations worldwide.

Paradigm shift:
By destroying the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Israel broke international law and endangered world peace. Iran responded in a very balanced way by using its old drones and missiles to do little damage.
If Israel once again celebrates aggression, it will definitely be excluded from the world community.
Iran will be a far more attractive partner for the USA in the Persian Arab region than Israel.
Israel will have to accept this, unless it wants to risk an Iran-Israel war, which would also mean the end of Israel.
A paradigm shift is currently taking place and that is encouraging.
What we need now, however, is the irrevocable recognition of the Palestinian state by the UN so that the Palestinian population can live in security, self-determination and freedom.

The consulate in Damascus was no Embassy. There were terrorist hidding. US/UK coalition forces did exactly the same in Afganistan when Bin Laden and its peers were hunted down. Long ago, so no one recalls how many drone attacks the US launched and hit civilians instead of Al-Qaeda or IS.

Israel has dropped almost 30 bombs on civilian areas for each person that was killed on Oct 7th . . . Iran responded with 18 bombs on non civilian targets for each Iranian that was killed . . . So what’s the problem? Where is the disproportionate response?

The attack towards Iran came from Israel when bombed the Embassy breaking international law. That is the facts and that follows Iran has the right to defend themself.
I love how they call the Israeli's attack retaliation and the Iranian attack a strike. Everything over there is retaliation. The Iran attack was because Israel attacked Iran's consulate in Damascus, Syria on April 1st.
