Definitely a bit of inflated ego there. He wasn't explaining it to the kid because it mattered. He was explaining so the kid would be appropriately impressed

Michael Jordan for example is touted as the greatest basketball player, but he was horrible at baseball. Bo Jackson was just amazing at anything he enjoyed. Had he been born in a different area where basketball was the predominant sport I have no doubt he'd be a superstar in the NBA, instead, his home of Alabama is more football and baseball oriented

“I was sports in the 80s”
Stolen comment
i cant explain why but whenever a coach starts hitting your hat like that while talking about when he played sports thats when you know you got a real coach who loves the game and wants younger players to love and enjoy it just like he did
I met him once in a gym working out back in the 90s. Very humble man.
Kid: “So you played baseba...”
Bo: “Yes i played football professionally” 😂
Bo: Football on the professional level yes
I thought he was just finishing the kid's thought, he was gonna say "so you played baseball **and** football?"
No clouds in the sky, a green grass field, and a little guy talking to a legend while he explains who he is without arrogance or any inflated sense of himself. Prime example of excellent coaching, without coaching.
really is happiness
Definitely a bit of inflated ego there. He wasn't explaining it to the kid because it mattered. He was explaining so the kid would be appropriately impressed
@All_22_NFL_Cuts ok.. so what was the purpose of telling the kid?🤔
@All_22_NFL_Cuts was that knowledge somehow useful to that kid's training?
Kid: "how long did you play there?"
Bo: "...I played for Kansas City, the Chicago White Sox and the California Angels and I played with the Raiders...the Heisman Trophy...that's the best college football player in the country...I won that...I played football on the professional level...I'm the only player to make it to the pro bowl in football and the all star game in baseball and I'm the MVP of the all star game...so I've been there..."
How is that not arrogant??? The kid tells him his dad plays for Kansas City and Bo, unasked, gives him his resume.
Bo knows football, Bo knows baseball, Bo knows history.
This is a lesson to stay humble. It proves that you could be the best there ever was, and the kids won't care. For them, 2 years ago is ancient history. The 80s might as well have been during the French Revolution.

Well his father was an extremely good baseball player who is extremely well traveled and brings his son to every MLB practice and game. So chances are, he’s had conversations like this with former presidents lol.
"Dad, this old fat dude at your practice said he played baseball and football and was heisman, pro bowl, all star something blah blah"
There’s no reason to think he’s lying, Bo hasn’t been a household name since the mid-90s. I first heard of Dick Allen THIS WEEK, and he’s a borderline HOFer. You may know of all the HOFers who were before your time, you you don’t know every since player or story.

if he humblebragged it was in the most modest way possible. Had his career not been cut short by injuries Bo Jackson would've been talked about as the most accomplished athlete in modern times. Michael Jordan for example is touted as the greatest basketball player, but he was horrible at baseball. Bo Jackson was just amazing at anything he enjoyed. How great to be so innocent . You know you’re an awesome father your son idolizes you and has no idea he’s standing next to one of the biggest sports legends ever.
When I was close to this kid's age, my father took me to the local mall because a former baseball player was there signing autographs. He instructed me to get a nice looking ball, and hop in the car. When we got there, I was surprised to see such a huge line for a player I'd never heard of before. After briefly saying hello, and getting my ball signed, I felt lucky to be part of such a big deal, even though at the time, I didn't fully grasp it. It was later that I understood the gravity. I had just met Hank Aaron, the REAL home run king. Still have the ball.... over 30 years later.
