  • While some of the biggest independent brands are names like Rolex or Patek Philippe, there are some serious rising stars in the independent category that deserve attention. Let's just say the "future" for watchmaking is bright. Although names like F.P. Journe, Laurent Ferrier, and Vianney Halter have been circulating in the industry for years, the intrigue and respect for their brands has never been higher. They're now apart the conversation with some of the largest brands who are mass producing compared to the lower volumes they're producing yearly. What separates them is the sleek innovations, unmatchable hand finishes, and the super detail oriented hand crafting of their timepieces. Grab your coffee (or wine), sit back, and listen to Michael offer his opinion on which brands he considers as the rising stars of modern watchmaking!

    Great video, I really like this series. A segment on RGM would be terrific. They have a series of in-house movements that are exquisite and they are only about 100 miles from your studios!

      Thanks Tod - We've thought about paying RGM a visit, since they aren't too far from us. Thanks for the suggestion!

    I haven’t been able to find much info on the Frederic Constant in house movements and how they stack up in design, quality,reliability, pros & cons and how different from other movements at their teir.

    How about A Lange and Sohne? I know they are not independent brand but their finish is the best in the world!!! Even better than Patek... for me at least

    Is Parmigiani Fleurier considered as an independent?

    • @the1916company
      @the1916company  6 років тому +1

      We think that Parmigiani would count as an independent as they are still held, and not as part of one of the groups.

      Michael Michaels that's sad to hear man he is an awesome guy. Met him A couple of times and could Go by his workshop and also Meet him there. What a goldmine for experience. But don't miss out on visiting romain and the rexhepi brothers from akrivia. Their finishing is on par with that of dufours. Also had the pleasure meeting them

      only my opinion but thank you. Grand Seiko, Richard Mille, Greubel, Moser, Lang & Heyne, FP Journe, Roger Smith and the more affordable value end of Sinn, Stowa, Archimede, Seiko, G-Shock, there are many and of course the usual suspects Rolex & Patek. Good designs and size that people want, good customer service, fair prices though of course, that is subjective.
