- Rama's Bridge or Rama Setu, is a chain of natural limestone shoals, between Pamban Island, also known as Rameswaram Island, off the south-eastern coast of Tamil Nadu, India, and Mannar Island, off the north-western coast of Sri Lanka. Geological evidence suggests that this bridge is a former land connection between India and Sri Lanka.[2]
The feature is 48 km (30 mi) long and separates the Gulf of Mannar (southwest) from the Palk Strait (northeast). Some of the regions are dry, and the sea in the area rarely exceeds 1 metre (3 ft) in depth, thus hindering navigation. It was reportedly passable on foot until the 15th century when storms deepened the channel. Ramanathaswamy Temple records say that Ram Setu was entirely above sea level until it broke in a cyclone in 1480.
According to legends, Ram setu Bridge was constructed by Lord Ram when he went to Sri Lanka to save Sita mata from Sri Lankan king Raavan. In Sri Lanka people also call this bridge as Hanuman Bridge. This is also mentioned in Ramayan.

Great, Ram Setu mentioned in historic literature and Ramayan. The seas between SL and India seems quite rough, it must have been a massive project in those days to join the two countries. Or sea level must have been a lot lower that you could walk across. Then again Pyramids are massive too, yet they were built by humans. Adam story is so very old I cannot fathom that theory sorry. Besides his final resting place is claimed by many other countries.

According to valmiki ramayana it was originally known as nala setu. Nala was the main architect of the bridge. But as time passed people stated calling it ram setu according to their believes.
what believes Nala built it for Lord Ram. It is Nala setu too but it was built for Lord Ram so it is Ramsetu.

I am happy that you are focusing in these beautiful areas. If you look at Sri Lanka the North, North western and the Eastern provinces are neglected by the Government. These places are systematically deprived of development Yet there are very beautiful areas and beaches to see. If you look at SL where the Minorities live then you can see one thing for sure. That is all these areas are poorest in the country as they are under developed. Only private investors and Diasporas invest in these areas. Now the tourists from India and other western countries are getting interested because of people like you showing these parts of the country. Now there are very good potential that many tourists can come from India and other countries. These places are much cheaper than Colombo, and many other areas. There is also less tourist Scammers and less crime, Pollution I am sure. So Tourists can enjoy peaceful days. I used to live in SL many years ago but now I live in Europe for many years. Your videos are bringing focus of these provinces and lets hope it will bring more tourists so that the marginalized people of SL can serve the tourists and earn a decent living without becoming Greedy
