If you love White/Silver Bass then you need to come to the Detroit River during the spawn around May. We have the biggest white bass run in America. I catch and release hundreds in a few hours. You can throw Alabama rigs, crankbaits, jerkbaits, swimbaits, topwater, blade baits, spoons, whatever you like and the fish are HUGE!!! Coming out of a cold winter, when the run starts its HEAVEN!!!

Wolf River in Wisconsin might want a word about a May White Bass run. I grew up fishing the Wolf in Fremont, WI every spring with my dad. Simply amazing fishing. Hundreds of fish in a weekend if you get there at the right time.

My dad and I and my brother in law were on lake shelbyville in Illinois bout 4 yrs ago. Got on the water around 6am and had to be off the water around 11 am because my brother in law had to be home (don't ask). Anyway at 9 am we had 3 fish. Then they started hitting and by 11 am we had 176. We started catching doubles (2 at once). It took us an hour and a half to clean them and my brother in law was late anyway. Lol. Best day I've had on the water by far. They hit so freaking hard and you can't get the hook back in the water fast enough.

These fish are actaully really fun to catch as they are are really agressive and fight really hard espically when you using a light or medium action rod

white bass are the kind of fish i catch when the school is boiling up beside me. I CAN target them. But it's a lot of work in the texas heat as they tend to boil on the hottest days, like 110 degrees at the hottest part of the day for whatever reason. Otherwise you can do the night time light trick here in central texas. But cuz the weather they like is so extreme when they are on. And the size is typically half that of a black bass, i enjoy a fight so i just ride the weather or when they are available. But i don't turn down 25 bass in my cooler if i can leave catch be home to fry them within 3 hours.

The white bass run here in Indiana is an annual event that my son's take to every spring. We couldn't go without missing it. Of course the Whites we catch here are not nearly as big as these in the video. I wish they were, WOW! Great video guys. Thanks for sharing.
These were some big whites but regardless of the size they are one of my favorite fighters to catch!
Active silvers and you're using a bama rig? If those fish are active, just throw a shad colored crank like a Rattlin Fat Rap 4 and tear em up.

What are the best times of the year to target then Whites?
I’d say early spring when they’re moving up the creeks or rivers to spawn
in the spring usually march-end of april depending on water level and temp they will run up the rivers and creeks when there is good running water however if you are in a dry area they will spawn in the lake if they cant get up stream. post spawn you can catch them just about anywhere in the lake. they school up really good. deep in the summer and 8-15 foot in the late spring/fall. if you are fishing main lake fish rocky points/dam areas post spawn and gravel like areas pre/during spawn.
can you catch white bass on a spinnerbait
Heck yeah
absolutely but you will miss more strikes due to the size unless your throwing a really small spinners. i would recommend using a jig with a trailer. i generally use a 1/16 or an 1/8 road runner.
