In my country, the Oneplus 8 (non-pro) is $100 more than the iPhone 11 Pro ($50 less than the Pro Max), and The iPhone 11 pro is about 2.2 times the price of the iPhone SE. But I understand it's not like that for the majority of countries.

what every reviewer seems to miss is, that this is not a tablet sold as phone. It's small! Thats the best feature. I don't want a 7" plate in my face.
People won't complain if it had a higher screen to body ratio, this design is outdated.
I actually find small phones cute ngl it’s much better to carry around rather than carrying a massive phone around
@@stompinggrounds5626 its feels unusually good in the hands. like, this is really well built and its snappy and its quick. it feels great, and to me, the display ratio isnt that noticable after using it for awhile.
est Gaming I enjoy the home button so much I genuinely don’t mind. I went from a galaxy s10e to the iPhone se and I don’t miss it.

I feel like Apple purposefully didn't include Night Mode on the SE camera, so they could still differentiate the 11/11Pro as the obviously better phone for photography
Apple is a genius of marketing, and most normal people are too ignorant to notice its manipulation. It does everything to maximise its profits over the long run, even if they might come out with bad sales there is a reason.

I’ve had the SE for about two weeks now and I haven’t noticed any battery drain. My phone lasts all day no problem!

Very funny right? Nice concept of complaining initially but later loving up to putting his main sim in it. Smart.
Basics is smooth UI, average battery/display/camera, regular updates(security+functional features), best appstore/ecosystem, best audio/video capabilities and better build quality. So I think basics are covered, it's not best compared to other phines. But it does the basic stuff right.

@@JamesJose00 lol I use a Android, always have and always will, not a apple fan, never used one but I am sick of such bashing/trashing about a phone simply because it's apple. They invented the app store, they switched to stereo plus on top of unrivalled 4K capture which is EIS capable at 60 frames, plus what flagships including Android have headphone jack these days and software updates lasts 4-5 years minimum (much longer than pixel). If iphone 11 pro runs Android, I will gladly buy one cause I like Android plus it's freedom of accessibility. They produce the best hardware possible, it's the truth even you can't be blind about. I believe you are simply a "bash apple fanboy kind". Think before posting before hand.

Turn on low power mode while playing games, its saves a ton of battery and I do not feel it impacts performance while gaming.

I just got my SE and I love it. I upgraded from my 7 Plus so I’m still getting used to the smaller size but other than that it’s perfect for me. I don’t play games on my phone so battery life isn’t an issue. The camera is outstanding!

The fact that the iPhone SE sells like crazy - and an equivalent $399 Samsung doesn't - has nothing to do with features/specs/basics and everything to do with the iOS operating system and the fact that there are no alternative phones.

In Steve Jobs' day, that quote was fine. Apple today does not give people what they don't know they want. Apple today takes ideas and makes them better… and takes 3-4 years to do that. I don't like waiting that long and getting old features in the meantime.
At the end of the day though, I'm to blame: I use an iPhone 11 Pro.

iPhone will always be a luxury in India. Be it 11Pro or SE. We don't have a minimum wage rate of $10/hr and never will inorder to keep food, clothing and essentials cheap. Govt. not taxing it will result in minor change in its sale. In a country where over 80% of people buy sub $300 phones, even if Iphones were to sell at US rates people just won't buy them, people wouldn't want to pay for music & most of the apps too. So they aren't meant for price sensitive country like India.
@@dhruvtalwar9790 Personally, I'd go for the iPhone XS, since it's in the same price bracket as the iPhone SE and the OnePlus 8 outside the US, simply because it runs iOS, and far better than the SE at least for me.
Now let's say someone in India wants an iPhone, the SE is going to be the most logical option for them if they want the new cheapest phone that runs iOS

I had the 8 in red and now I got this se in red so I’m happy. I’m not so into phones as I was before and so something that does what it needs to and isn’t that expensive and has the potential to last a good 2-3 years is perfect for me

It’s important as I have an iPhone 7 with a newish battery from Apple and the battery drain is ridiculous so would definitely not want this.

It's not a phone for phone enthusiasts, but tech lovers can still appreciate it. It's just a simple phone for the basics (web browsing, texting, calling, etc.) I have a DSLR for photography, and a gaming PC, laptop, and Nintendo Switch for games. Also, I was tired of Android manufacturers abandoning security updates after less than a couple of years.

As someone who consumes their media and games on a smart tv or laptop this SE is perfect for me. Basically just need a simple thing for podcast/music listening, work calls and texting...don't need a giant screen expensive phone for that.
G M I agree I have a MacBook Pro Touch Bar and iPad Pro 3rd Gen for that reason. This iteration of SE feels like the iPhone I didn’t know I’ve missed.

After listening to the whole tech community just gushing over this phone, I loved the fact that Dave critically looked at it and told us about it.

Wdym, you can see from a distance how outdated and just a bad choice this is in 2020. Theres no need for a very good proccesor in such an old body, makes no sense for me.The Only thing that sells this is the Apple logo.

Don't worry, this phone will get throttled down by iOS pretty quickly because of the small battery and how it'll get through a lot of charge cycles in a short period of time.
Also Dave: It's going to be my primary driver for a while.
It won’t be throttled down lol. The a13 is more efficient than all the past chips. It has better battery life than the iPhone 8 or similar so no point. Battery tests aim to drain it quickly not in real life use. Standby decrease is legit nothing over a day. My phone stayed at 100% for 8 hours when i was at work so I think everyone using this will be fine
Kenn yesh. My iPad mini 2 was unplugged overnight and during school and when I got home was still on 98%. I’ve been using it since it came out too!
Peter the Panda I still use my iphone 7 and I used to hammer the battery everyday by just using the hotspot for hours a day. It’s been 3 years now and the phone is still snappy and the battery is “good enough” at 81% max capacity.

I don't have a single problem with se except the battery cause for a guy that plays a few games on his phone the battery drainage is a big problem.
Also it is similarly priced as the one plus 8 in india so I have spend my money right.

One plus phone works fine after 2 3 year, my friend still using there 5t and 6 from stat still working fine mo lag or any problem. Rest on your choice what you want. I believe whole heartedly they made this phone for everyone who doesn’t care about what their smartphone can do. They just want reliable performance for the basics like you said, and don’t want to break the bank to do it. Nothing more. Nothing less.
The mom comment was on point. My mom with an android was a nightmare, she would get all the bullshit ads tells you to get, random games, different keyboards, animated screensavers, random apps that I was not sure what they were. She then would complain about how slow her phone was.
Got her the last SE, and that’s it. She still downloads random games and stuff, but no weird mods to her phone...
Then why to throw 400$ away. Get yourself a simple phone for one tenth of the price with tons of battery.

Communication apps have become standard for many people. My parents can’t communicate with relatives overseas without WhatsApp, short of paying outrageous fees for international calling/texting. Video chat is almost catching up in terms of “basic mode of communication”, especially during this crisis.

He's not, it's an old phone that's marketed as "2020" model. I have last year's Xiaomi that several times cheaper, has better screen resolution, bigger battery and "just works" just like this. The only reason you would by this overpriced iPhone is if you want newest cheapest iPhone

As a photographer, I cried so much when Daves tacled the Iphone SE for bad night mode photography. Because lets be honest, its just intended software limitation.
what do you mean? are you saying that SE camera is not that bad?
Ivan Lubis when you talk about Smartphones’ cameras, there is 3 points to study :
-the sensor (the size of it)
-the lens and how they designed it
-the internal photo processing software (colour correction/ chromatic aberration/ contrast and so on..).
Apple imo has the best internal photo processing software as for now, and many photographers may agree with me.
What I mean with the SE 2020? It is that with photo processor software, normally you can choose the shutter speed but Apple decided to lock all the manual modes and prefers to use an automatic c one for photo newbies. Night mode could easily be implemented in this SE because it has the right processor (A13 Bionic) and thus could easily handle a night mode processing.
For me ( but I don’t how the software processes), night mode is a mix between long exposure & white & lights enhancement. These things Can be easily done by the SE but imo Apple locked this feature for marketing segmentation.... this is my point.

I know a few people still using iphone 5 and 6 models who aren't interested in Android. This is the perfect upgrade for them.

My dad, my younger brother, and I used either iPhone 5 or 6 for years, they still use it now, and only that I had received a hand-me-down phone.

I just upgraded to the new SE from an iPhone 5, which is still in excellent condition, and was OK for my purposes. The battery still held a charge. I purchased the new SE over other phones because of its size. I wanted a new phone that fits comfortably in my pocket and hand. Not everyone wants a 'big' phone.

Thank you for talking about variations in world pricing. You are the only American reviewer to even mention this and it's appreciated because all of the big tech reviewers have global audiences and the prices of these things are wholly inconsistent (I'm in Sweden for example, where a base model SE comes in at $550).
