I think pervious concrete can help a lot with water control issues. Too often water pools up in unwanted areas due to widespread paving.

Thanks for the videos. I have 300 stone crab traps I have to pour in the next 2 weeks. They will sit under water in the gulf of mexico for 6 months out of the year. I would like to NOT have to put metal in them, steel or what have you, because it is expensive and I can lose up to 30% of the trap in a 6 months season, that's 90 traps a year that I will have to replace next season. I plan to have 1000 or more in the future. I am trying to find a recipe that will make the concrete in the traps last at least 10 years without using meatal and is cost effective. The traps dimensions are 14.6 x 14.6 and maybe 2 inches thick. I would really appreciate it if you could lend me a hand? Thanks!!

If they were using fiber-mesh reinforcement (fiberglass strands) in the concrete then you don't need re-bar. This is standard practice now adays. That's probably what they were doing for the driveway your neighbor was pouring. A professional concrete company is not going to overlook something as sill as no reinforcement.

They were definitely not using fibers in place of rebar. Note that I am a concrete contractor and owned a shotcrete company for many years prior to running this youtube channel you are watching now. In this situation, the contractor was being a slimy, scummy huckster and was attempting to get away with unacceptable work on the driveway. Also, I would not use fibers in place of steel. The fibers are used in addition to steel. Structural construction still happens with steel reinforced concrete. Unless your fibers are approaching GFRC levels, the steel is still definitely needed!

@@creatingconcrete If you have a footer, it needs to have steel. If you are doing a driveway, glass fiber will work fine. It is actually beneficial in that the strands are throughout the thickness of the slab compared to re-bar. Furthermore, it is more fool-proof than rebar because contractors often don't ensure re-bar is perfectly placed. Licensed structural engineers will disagree with you that a driveway cannot be done this way.
